Al Sharpton
Saturday, May 12 at 12:01 PM

Leroy M. Martinez of Denver writes:

It seems to me that Al Sharpton’s big mouth can say anything when referring to Republican Mitt Rommey running for the White House. All that believe in God will defeat Mr. Rommey. This comes after his disgust with Dom Imus’s remark on live radio.
Do as I say, not as I do?

READER COMMENTS

It seems to be that Leroy M. Martinez writes an awful lot of these letters. Too much time on one's hands?

If I were Martinez, I wouldn't be worried about Sharpton:

"Half (53%) of all Evangelical Christians say that they would not consider voting for a Mormon candidate"

Oops, seems like a lot of conservatives agree with Sharpton

Better a Mormon than a Muslim.

Obama,Osama, same religion. Only difference one is an Arab.

Al Sharpton is a bigot and a hustler! Just like his buddy Jesse(adulterer)baby from an ilicit affair Jackson. REVERAND Jackson no less.

Mitt Romney in bed with Pat Robertson makes for "strange bedfellows" says Bill Moyers on PBS. Mitt seeks faith should run the Presidency obtruding once again my brilliant wit: Faith is a mouse living in fear of the cat called Reason. Sharpton wants his faith in charge; Mitt wants his faith in charge. Both, like Bush, adhere to this higher law concept that subordinates American law. The mouse wants to be President. Me, your friendly deicide.

to the writer of "Better a Mormon than a Muslim.

Obama is not a muslim, and anyway what does religion have to do with running a country, ever here of seperation of church adn state?

hoimaha,

The old tried and true - vide Goebbels and Nazi Germany - tactic of "the big lie". The warmonger party, and all its frightened followers, just can't understand why the rest of us don't see all those flying carpets coming - and the great bronze horses, powered by the Djinn - all filled with millions of "Islamofascists", who will "take over America", if we don't keep on sending American troops overseas to get killed in Iraq - and wherever else Bush, as the "Great Decider", decides to bog us down in the Middle East.

What a wonderful slogan! Simple enough for even the conservative Republican mind.

Posted by Old Grouch on May 12, 2007 02:38 PM

Real nice, Old Grouch. Do you ever read what the Islamofascists themselves say their goal is? Probably not. Too caught up in your own little world singing Kumbaya and thinking up brilliant responses like the one above.

Deniers and appeasement specialists like yourself are just as much a target of theirs as anybody else deemed by them as an infidel.

No, I'm not for Bush or for attacking Iran or anybody else, as I'm sure you would characterize us. However, even Clinton began finally to recognize the worldwide movement that threatens western civilization. He just didn't do anything about it, except lob a few cruise missiles over there.

With folks such as yourself assisting them by turning a blind eye, the Muslims that have settled here legally (or crossed in illegally) will have little trouble gaining power through our institutions without firing a shot. Moderate Muslim voices here in the U.S. are stifled, threatened and intimidated by groups such as CAIR. Even our government, in its stupidity, has, as its "experts" on Islam those that are hostile to moderate Muslims - the same folks seeking to silence the moderates. The same people that believe in jihad.

Did you know that CAIR is behind a lawsuit by the "Flying Imams" against the ordinary "John Doe" citizens who reported their suspicious activity in the airport which led to their removal from a flight? CAIR is now urging Muslims to complain more and use the U.S. justice system. All part of a plan to intimidate ordinary people into remaining silent when we have suspicions of unusual activity.

It won't be quick, but it will be relatively easy, thanks to people like you. Dimwit.

3:42-

Nicely put!

Old Grouch-

Downplaying or dismissing the threat of Islamist Jihad,a stylish new dem talking point, is absolute blind stupidity, but,I would expect nothing less from a predictable liberal like yourself.

Richard Grimes-

Ive been trying really hard to pass over all your tortured posts but you are like a car accident that, for some reason ,people must look at. I'd compare it to my 7TH grade son's basketball team that, not for lack of trying, really sucked and never won .My wife and I attended every game but always commented on how it was "hard to watch".

Posted by GET REAL on May 12, 2007 05:56 PM

RU Serious,

Have you always been so paranoid?

Did you know that terrorist attacks are up X7 since Bush attacked Iraq?

Do you think he's doing a good job protecting you?

Have you ever read Richard Clark's testimony regarding what Clinton told Bush was the biggest threat facing the USA when he left office?

Did I mention how paranoid you sound? Doesn't it suck to live like that? In a perpetual state of paralizing fear?

hoimaha,

"what does religion have to do with running a country,"

Believing in ghosts and magic has everything to do with running this country:

When asked if he ever seeks advice from his father on important matters President Bush said:

"He is the wrong father to appeal to for advice, the wrong father to go to, to appeal to, in terms of strength. There's a higher father that I appeal to."

There you have it, don't consult your father with his 50 years in government and encyclopedic knowledge of foreign policy and history, ask the old man in the sky.

Ghosts and magic are running this country..

Sharpton & Jackson are poverty pimps who do more harm to black Americans by teaching them to be professional victims.

Denver's premier poverty pimp is Acen Phillips.

Quick! Take Cover! The flying carpets are coming! The flying carpets are coming!

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

And the rest of the rhetoric and fear mongering.

Having lived through the days when the world was "threatened" by quite a number of diverse ways in which it was going to be "conquered", I realize that there is really nothing all that new in the current round.

Also, having studied history - and taught it - I am well aware of the rhetoric and bombast of the Centuries; and of the various and sundry "powers" telling the world what they intended to do when they succeeded in "taking over".

I am also quite able to distinguish between "hot air" and actual capability to accomplish the threats. The "Islamic Jihad" that has you wetting your undies has been proclaimed time and again over the Centuries, against almost every nation in the Western world. And, for approximately the past five centuries, the Western world remains "unconquered"; even that part of it that is approachable by land as part of the Euraisian Continent.

The likelihood of invasion in the Western Hemisphere - much less "conquering" - is infenitesimal. Unless, that is, you really believe in those flying carpets, and great bronze horses powered by the Djinn. No Moslem nation has a navy, or merchant shippong facilities, large enough to transport an invasion force over either the Atlantic or the Pacific Oceans, much less maintain the necessary supply lines to make such an invasion force even minimally capable of a war on this Continent.

And, as to "Moderate Moslems" in this country, just when was the last time you sat down with an Imam - or even a reasonably devout Moslem in your area - to discuss whether or not "their voices were stilled"? And just how many Moslems are currently "gaining power through our institutions"?

Answer with facts! Not the lies and canards of ignorance, bigotry, and blind fear.

Then I might even believe that you "are serious", and or "real".

Posted by Old Grouch on May 13, 2007 08:23 AM

hoimaha,
Barack Obama was born to a black Muslim father and in the Islamic faith once you are born to a Muslim father you "are a Muslim forever." Obama's mother divorced his father and married another Muslim. He was registered at his school as a young child as a MUSLIM by his family!!! He can deny all he wants but, Muslims consider him one of theirs and who do you think the ever growing Muslim population in the U.S. are going to vote for?????? Scary!!!

Posted by A on May 13, 2007 09:18 AM

I don't want to vote for any of them. All a bunch a lying scumbag politicians. ANd all these previous posts sure bring out the party line morons from both sides. Sooo much ignorance.

Posted by my name 2 on May 13, 2007 10:19 AM

09:18 AM,

And just how does the idea of being a "Muslim foreve" by birth differ from the idea of being a Roman Catholic forever by Baptism, or a Protestant cult member "forever" by whatever way one is inducted there? Are you so totally afraid of the claims of a particular religion you can't even understand an individual's own choice to convert to another faith?

And quite obviously, you are totally ignorant of the Constitutional prohibition of ANY "religious test" for holding office.

As to which candidate Moslems might vote for: IF your silly prattle were at all anything more than fantastic imagination, you would know that for an absolutely observant, and or fanatic, Moslem, Obama would be the LAST person for whom he/she would vote, since he has become, to them an "apostate".

Do you still ask Mommy to check for bogymen under the bed before she tucks you in?

Posted by Old Grouch on May 13, 2007 10:32 AM

Old Grouch...do you always insult people for their right to express an opinion?

Barack Hussein OBama is indeed an "apostate." Apostasy is a capitol offense in several Muslim countries. OBama should denounce the practice of enforcing the death penalty for apostates, and call for religious freedom in Islamic countries.

It is long past time for non-Muslims,(OBama claims to be Christian) to demand that Muslims offer reciprocity in the realm of tolerance for other faiths. Muslims benefit greatly in countries based on religious equality. They are thriving very well, in the U.S.

Yet Muslim theology and practice in several important countries DO NOT offer the same tolerance.

If Barack OBama would help raise this issue, based on his unique circimstances, I would support him in it. I wouldn't vote for him however. If he doesn't make such a call it would raise many red flags for me.

I cannot believe the comments posted by Old Grouch, Charles B and the like. Listen to the words of Iran's president. Get a copy of the Q'uran in English, or double-speak, or whatever you best understand. You're both toast in their perfect world. After you're both toast, then forever, you're both toast.

[to be fair, the system assigned him a name quoted from an anonymous post. he can ask to change it]

Mr. Supid Boards,

Isn't your posting signature, in and of itself, an insult to everyone who posts here? Should you really be admonishing others about their postings, then?

tally,

I am thoroughly conversant with the beliefs and practices of quite a number of religions. I am also conversant with both history and reality; and the basic reality is that, all rhetoric aside, and all posturing aside, the simple facts of life are such that the current wave of hysteria about some kind of Moslem takeover on earth is just that, foolish hysteria.
