Democrats & national security
When Clinton ruled by public opinion this Terrorist mess went unanswered.(Lets play nice) Hence 9-11.
True leaders don’t listen to a “Public” that thinks it’s Ok to abort millions of unborn Americans, but not see the valor in our volunteer army protecting everything we cherish as Americans. (The fight remains in Iraq not mainland USA) World War Three is closer than you think. Democrats will not have the guts to disarm Iran, they will send Pelosi over to play kissy face with Amadinejad as he plots his American/Israel Holocaust. (History repeating; Hitler, Chamberlin 1935) I am terrified what will happen if the Party of Defeat is in control of the White House in two years. Lets see how Liberals will blame the Bush administration as their children and families are incinerated at the hands of a Nuclear Iran they bowed down to.
This letter has not been edited.
James, you are a Redumblican cretin. The Muslims will come over to our side with diplomacy, but you want to bomb them instead of exchange presents. Better that we kiss the Muslim rear a little than see any more soldiers die.
Posted by No use on May 7, 2007 12:32 PMJames seems to approve of a representative government only when it represents him and him alone.
Sounds totalitarian and rather facist to me.
Posted by on May 7, 2007 01:08 PMFirst poster is right - this is definitely the cream of the republican cretin class:
"incinerated at the hands of a nuclear Iraq" - who, Runavich, do you think emboldened Iran in the first place by effectively taking out the 2 countries that contained them - Iraq and Afghanistan? Why yes, I believe it was cretin-in chief, GW Bush! But please blame Democrats for that.
And what exactly is an "Islamic Fascist" - is that a
cross-dressing Muslim who wants to look like Mussolini?
Why don't you read up on fascism before you throw out idiotic, nonsensical cliches.
And the man's name was Neville Chamberlain - not "Chamberlin."
And of course we have to throw in somewhere some irrelevant reference to "aborting..millions of unborn Americans." Of course we never get misty eyed about the tens of thousands of real kids who've been incinerated in Bush's war of choice - much too important to wring our hands about the "unborn."
Good grief-these people write the same letter over and over - it's getting tiresome!
Posted by Drew on May 7, 2007 01:25 PMJames stated with oxy-moronic flair:
"I am terrified what will happen if the Party of Defeat is in control of the White House in two years."
and Let's play spot the contradiction!
You need to narrow the scope of your letters if you hope to get them published. Your postulations are obtuse and sans evidence. You jumble together disparate subjects in ways that don't follow. From what I gather you have an irrational fear of "Islamic Fascists" (seems you have a gift for oxy-morons), and you see Democrats as being complicit with these boogiemen with whom you've conflated the native insurgents in Iraq.
Credit for trying though.
Posted by Charles B on May 7, 2007 01:33 PMThe “Public” is only affected by emotions and feelings, not educated, rational, informed, decision making
Why do conservatives insist on telling us, the people, that we are stupid, irresponsible, and clueless?
It's the same with the healthcare debate. We're in a healthcare mess because, as they sternly tell us, "We're not being personally responsible enough."
Why do these Americans hate Americans so much???
Posted by mytwosense on May 7, 2007 01:37 PMPoor William Buckley...he spent his life bringing legitimacy to the conservative political viewpoint, even among those who don't share its values, and look at the pathetic rabble that it has produced. If there are any conservatives out there worthy of the name, can you please reveal yourselves and articulate what has happened to your cause, to let the likes of this letter writer represent you? 'Conservativism' has become a punchline for a least a generation or two to come.
Posted by on May 7, 2007 01:47 PMCmon you anonymous posters you know Mr. Runavich has some valid points. Does that scare you?? I guess it doesn't scare Democrat's, cause they think softee chit chat with the terrorists will do the trick. Boy, are they in for a surprise if they get the presidency.
Of course for the next 40 years they will blame Bush for any and all terrorist actions. The Terrorists are just "misunderstood"!
12:32 you can go kiss a Muslims a--s if ya want, but I'll utilize my guns and my ammo and help them get to Allah and their 72 virgin's in a speedy and efficient display of American patriotism!!
Posted by A on May 7, 2007 01:49 PMActually, I think Alan Simpson is the only decent conservative left. Most of the rest are whack-jobs. This was from the Rocky on May 5:
Former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson, of Wyoming, the event's keynote speaker, agreed. He told the group of about 200 that he thinks the party is in a better place than it was after delving into issues such as the Terri Schiavo right-to-life case and gay marriage.
"We're shaking some of the goofies and zanies out of the trees," Simpson said to laughter.
"Who the hell's for abortion?" he asked, explaining that it is a personal decision and should not be on the party platform.
Mr. Runavich and Christian Conservatives are the main reasons that I have become libertarian. His logic is based in as much fear and "talking points" as those he accuses. However, I can easily dismiss his comments as being ignorant to the whole story.
What scared me most however, was the comment by the first poster stating:
"The Muslims will come over to our side with diplomacy, but you want to bomb them instead of exchange presents. Better that we kiss the Muslim rear a little than see any more soldiers die."
That is just an ignorant lack of historical understanding. There has never been an instance where Muslims (as this reader wrote) have ever accepted Jewish culture in history, and the lack of understanding the religious overtones of two sects of Islam (shia and sunni) that are not willing to to accept each other, is an absolutely scary proposition, to think that diplomacy will allow us to "all get along."
Now, maybe I am misreading those comments, and instead that poster is saying that we may diplomatically retreat, save face, and let "them" work it out on their own, for which I say, I'm willing to give it a shot too. But if that poster truly believes that we can help "ease" the middle east with diplomacy, I'm afraid he/she may need a history lesson.

Given the incoherence of the original letter and T's apparent ability to understand it, perhaps T can bullet out the "valid points" Runavich was making.
Posted by on May 7, 2007 08:03 PMDan2 rejects the thinking of Defense Secretary Gates, General Petraeus and most others who realize that any victory will have to be a diplomatic one, albeit with military support. Condi Rice is in the process trashing Rumsfeld and Cheny's claim that we should never talk to "them".
Dan2: "There has never been an instance where Muslims (as this reader wrote) have ever accepted Jewish culture in history"
It wouldn't hurt a thing for Dan2 to bone up on his own history.
http://soundvision.com/Info/politics/jewhistory.asp
"Muslims and Jews: a historical perspective that reveals surprises"
"Once upon a time, a widely circulated Jewish document described Islam as "an act of God's Mercy"."
"Also, Jews in the near East, north Africa and Spain threw their support behind advancing Muslim Arab armies."
"No, these aren't fairy tales or propaganda. The relationship between Muslims and Jews really was that cooperative and marked by peaceful coexistence."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_under_Muslim_rule#Arabian_Peninsula
"For nearly 700 years, Spain (then Al-Andalus) was ruled by an Islamic Caliphate. For a period of time during the Muslim rule of Spain, Jews were generally accepted in Muslim Spanish society and Jewish religious, cultural, and economic life blossomed."
These are just a couple of articles of which there are many. There were also periods during the Muslim control of various European countries when the Muslims got along well with the Christians.
Yes, indeed, there were many conflicts as well. But to say, as Dan2 did, that Muslims never accepted Jews is simply due to Dan2's lack of accurate historical knowledge.
Posted by Truth on May 7, 2007 08:10 PMRepublicans...democrats...trying to argue either was just sounds ignorant.
Posted by [Anonymous...the same as the rest of em] my name 2 on May 8, 2007 02:18 AMJames Runavich,
Your letter could be used as an example of brainwashing by exploiting fear. I don't care if you are afraid of everything on the news, but PUH-leaze, don't try to scare the rest of us.
P.S. There is a BOOGEYMAN in your closet.

Islamic radicals also want to kill people in their own countrys, look at how Egypt, saudi Arabia etc treats them. I would not wish that kind of arrest and exacution on almost anyone, but for them, it fits.
Go moderate mulsims. Kill your own toublemakers.
