DIA smoking lounge must be mighty vital
Monday, May 7 at 12:01 AM

I have some questions now that should have occurred to me much earlier. Who owns the lounge where smoking is allowed at Denver International Airport, who operates it and into whose pocket does the money go?
I’ve never seen any information on this and, since Sen. Betty Boyd seems to think that one lounge out of more than a thousand similar businesses should be the one to get an exemption, surely there must be some overriding, extremely important state interest — maybe even a national security interest — involved.
Perhaps many covert operatives who smoke come through DIA and it would compromise their identities if they were not seen to be smoking in that lounge. Just think of how that would jeopardize our anti-terrorism efforts, drug smuggling prevention and — my God! — It just occurred to me that that lounge could be the most important bar ever to exist!
Sen. Boyd, I apologize for having ever questioned your motives, really I do!

We have the best politicians that money can buy. All the little people that aren't exempted just didn't contribute enough. It's just a little legalized extortion.

boyd is a boob

the government needs to take care of its self and leave the private business owners alone and let them decide who and what can happen in their business.

Being sarcastic can be a public mistake but, it also can be used to exemplify the given point when humor is not available due to the serious nature of the problem. I just want to make one thing clear: the smoking ban was and will never be about health. It's about money and the power that it has over those who are to weak to put principal over convenience.

The smoking ban has never been about smoking, it has been an issue of government appeasement of whiny lobbyists.
