Disabled veterans

James J. Tenant of Centennial writes:

I take exception to Rocky Mountain News’ columnist Peter Blake, comparing (tooting one’s own horn) Congressman Perlmutter to former Congressman “Banker-Bob” Beauprez ($16 million), in his 4/25 column, “In Beauprez’s footsteps". Colorado’s 400K veterans should collectively take notice of Perlmutter and his support for veterans and disabled veterans federal benefits. Perlmutter and State Rep. Morgan Carroll are then only politicians in Colorado, that I’ve seen in the past 17 years, that will truly fight for veterans benefits. I had a front row seat when Carroll took the Denver VA Hospital director to task, because her disabled veteran constituents were waiting excessive amounts of time to get their critical medical appointments. I piled on during this shellacking, that I had to pay for medications to treat my medical injuries, sustained from serving in 3 deployments to Vietnam. The VA said, “my Rx meds were too expensive for them to buy". The Halliburton/Cheney war-time profiteering families, don’t have this little Rx problem. I sought help from Perlmutter out of sheer desperation. He answered my bell. I fought the VA for 17 years regarding my “benefit of the doubt” federal right, regarding my combat disability date of claim.
The VA is thumbing their noses at this federal law, on a daily basis, for thousands of veterans and their families nationally. They even told my claim was denied because the VA physician who diagnosed me, had retired. I also experienced similar results with the Denver Regional Social Security Administration Office-SSA for the past 7 years, who thumbed their noses at taxpayer-funded contractor (cash-cow) medical diagnosis (VA/SSA) of me, where they stated I should be given SSA disability compensation. I landed in Perlmutter’s office simply because Congressman Tom “nuke’em till they glow” Tancredo, shunned my constituent requests for his assistance. He was too busy illegally interfering into Duane “Dog” Chapman’s (convicted felon and resident of Honolulu, HI resident) deportation to Mexico, on kidnapping charges. Also Tancredo was pre-occupied hiring criminal illegal Mexicans to do construction on his primary residence, increasing his property’s value through pimping and exploiting illegals, and simultaneously illegally displacing qualified American workers. Where is Pelosi and Reid when disabled vets need’em?
