Ed Stein & Jerry Falwell
Wednesday, May 23 at 1:51 PM

Jay and Dianne Moyers of Centennial write:

Ed Steins’s 5/16/07 political cartoon has Jerry Falwell asking who is in heaven as he enter its gates. He did not have to ask. The Bible is very clear about who won’t be in heaven and how to get there:
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Well, guess that rules out Jerry Falwell (gluttony), that evangelist from the Springs who was "getting a massage" from the gay prostitute, and the vast majority of televangelists (swindlers), a fair number of Catholic priests and ..well.. maybe Jay and Dianne will be the only ones there!

It really took 2 people to write this stupid letter?

Any afterlife without scum like Falwell and the Moyers works for me.

“In religion, what damned error but some sober brow will bless it, and approve it with a text, Methinks sometimes I have no more wit than a Christian. His worst fault is, he's given to prayer; he is something peevish that way. We are such stuff as dreams are made of, and our little life is rounded with a sleep. Modest doubt is call'd the beacon of the wise.” William Shakespeare

The Moyers must live their life so as to remain sheep Jn.10 and not goats: Sheep go to heaven.

God is the only Being who does not have to exist in order to reign. Charles Baudelaire

If there is a God, and if he really based his religion around Jesus Christ, there is no chance at all that Fallwell is in heaven.

In fact, I'm so personally disgusted with the idea that Fallwell might not suffer eternal damnation for his actions on this planet that I have been trying out Christianity to see if I can fool myself into believing that he will get what he sorely deserves.

I would rather have seen Fallwell get ass cancer like Tony Snow so I could at least be assured he would suffer a little before he kicked the big fat sleazy bucket.

"The greedy" and "the swindlers" pretty much rules out the entire Republican Party. Maybe only Independents go to heaven?

You guys are all missing the point -you don't realize how cool Christianity is! Basically you can do what you want all your life -lie, steal, commit gluttony, rape, pillage, eat meat on Friday, etc - but all you have to do is ask Jesus for FORGIVENESS on your deathbed & YOU"RE IN HEAVEN - it's as simple as that.

So don't worry about it - just become a Christian right before you die & it really doesn't matter that you make Charlie Manson look like a boy scout. Or that you tempted that poor Catholic priest when you were an altar boy!

Dear Moyers.

camel, needle, eye, rich, heaven

Fill in the missing bits and let me know who goes to heaven.

all of you are pathetic, and need serious help

ALL OF YOU!

The word homosexual does not appear in 1 Corinthians or anywhere else in the Bible because the word did not exist until the 19th Century. In fact, it's neither accurate nor honest to offer any contemporary English translation and claim "the Bible is very clear..."

Just the same, if heaven is where the pious charlatans and hypocritical demagogues like J. Falwell end up, make me reservations for Vegas. It's amazing that any Christians would still defend this man who made a joke out of their religion in exchange for political power, although I guess true Christianity involves forgiving him for doing so.

I've always wondered why those aggressive "fundamentalist chistian" missionaries who are so eager to mind my business for me, and "save my soul" in the bargain, have never given a thought to the simple fact that, fhe grimmest possible picture of hell ever painted is the one of having to spend an eternity in THEIR company.

Quote the bible to your hearts content. Falwell is worm dirt.

Dearest Miss/Mrs/Master/Mr. Fresh,

I am indeed pitiful and pathetic, please send money and nekkid girls to save me.

On the help side, I get a little from my friends, so that's ok.

Pro and Con, your all missing the point. Believe what you will in private. Live what you believe in public.

Allen Campbell,

"Believe what you will in private. Live what you believe in public."

O. K. But then - since it is an old principle of life that Nature abhors a vacuum - what would the Je$u$ Bu$ine$$ do without a new crop of Elmer Gantrys, and such like entrepreneurs, to take over its franchises?

Charles B
You said Quote the bible to your hearts content. Falwell is worm dirt.

Falwell's body is worm dirt. His Spirit is with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

You on the other hand, with no payment for your sin, will become worm dirt one day and your Spirit will spend eternity with the rest of the unbelievers of this world.

Asuming we have a spirit/soul. Maybe yes, maybe no.

Sharon B: You are terrific. Shaupeen falls into the same category: 10,000 mourning the Fruit's death with women in attendance. I can understand the ignorant prostrating themselves for the fruit of the tree and the fruit prostrating himself for the fruit of the Virgin as a result of David (of his loins) penetration or the result of spontaneous combustion; however, when the intelligent seek dalliance with a Jew that goad Falwell type characters into existence I go bonkers.

Allsop was indignant that a mummery of an outworn creed (a church service) would be imposed to recognize a man who had fought hard to free fellow humans from the degradation of superstition. Seeing there are no signs nor fruit of religion but in man only, there is no cause to doubt but that the seed of religion is also only in man. They that approve a private opinion call it opinion; but they that mislike it, heresy; and yet heresy signifies no more than private opinion. Falwell was fond of turning other’s opinion into heresy and was surely a reincarnation of the Church’s grand Inquisitionist who loved disrobing women and poking them with prickers (sharp pliar like scissors for excising) in search of devil sign.
