Immigration plan
But what do they do? They add more insanity.
They are allowing illegal alien gang members to become citizens by simply declaring their desire to leave the gangs.
The lawyers hired by the illegal’s for their “application” will be paid for by the legal citizens of this great Republic through our tax dollars.
What about illegal aliens that have been sentenced by a court of law to be deported and have absconded? They get to stay too!
And all of these aforementioned, educated and skilled illegal aliens get to cut in line ahead of all those already going through the legal process!
But we’re not done yet Bob, they get to bring their extended family!
When Rome fell, it fell from many causes. One of the causes centered on a deal struck with a certain “barbarian tribe.

Since Todd Knurr is published on these pages about weekly, one would think he would read (and not just write) to the RMN.
Below the News reports a poll that most Americans favor a compromise bill and a path to citizenship. At least, that's what I think it says.
So how can Knurr make the following statement?
"A majority of this country’s citizens have condemned the idea of any type amnesty or change in immigration laws."
Perhaps it's because the anti-Mexican brigade (no exaggeration too extreme) cares little about truth or honesty, and are fueled, instead, by hatred (by its nature, irrational).
Posted by anderson on May 30, 2007 02:11 PMLeave it to Anderson to try to "clarify" for us what Todd said. Mark Wolf was not much better. The Rasmussen Poll said that 72% want enforcement. Anderson doesn't get it and instead has to spin our wanting enforcement of our current laws as racism. This has nothing to do with race and has everything to do with enforcing our laws, regardless of who is entering illegally.
Typical. If most people don't agree with Anderson and his ilk, WE are the ones with the problem.
Of course, the Mexicans haven't helped the perception of themselves here by their demonstrations, booing the U.S. soccer team, booing Miss USA, flouting our laws, etc.
Anderson - will you pay my share of the tax burden that this sham will impose on all of us? This measure will penalize our children and grandchildren in a big way.
Posted by on May 30, 2007 02:33 PMAnd so what part of my argument (that Knurr misrepresented the view of the public) did you disagree with?
I didn't say mention anything about racism. But now that you've brought it up, what part of racism dont' you understand? The part that doesn't affect you directly?
There is no tax burden of any significance. But feel free to play stupid all you want--that doesn't mean the rest of us are going to play stupid along with you.
Posted by anderson on May 30, 2007 02:51 PMHere a poll that might be interesting
Choose one
A. Deportation of all illegal immigrates
B.Natural attrition through border security and enforcement of current immigration laws
C. Z Visas, Guest worker program, right to bring in extended families, fast track to citizenship, and promise of border security
This should be interesting
Posted by jgd777 on May 30, 2007 03:02 PMYou can get a poll to say anything you want, if you ask the right questions, can't you?
So I assume you would diminish the meaning of this poll, jgd, just as you diminish the intent of Congress to do the right thing. Immigration reform for you seems to boil down to: make it your way, or see the highway (which in this case is more or less a dead end)
Posted by anderson on May 30, 2007 03:18 PMAnderson,
The truth is you have no idea how many illegals there are is this country, no one does Therefore you have no idea how many of them are using social programs, no one can ask. You have no idea how many are using our hospitals or medical care, again no one can ask them they status.
When this bill is passed everyone of them will receive legal status (Z Visa) That could be 8 million, 12 million, 20 million it could be 40 million for all you know. I keep hearing this argument about they are not costing the taxpayers any money or jobs, this from people who don't even know how many there are of them.
Just a suggestion, lets find out how many we are dealing with before we even start to talk about legalizing them. In the mean time we can secure our borders.
Posted by jgd777 on May 30, 2007 03:18 PMHow would you word a poll? What options would you give the people if you truly wanted to find out how the people feel. If you want to quote poll numbers find one that actually offers the people an opportunity to truly express their ideas.
I believe more people would agree with my ideas of how the program should work, than the ones that would agree with you.
Posted by jgd777 on May 30, 2007 03:24 PMjgd, to the contrary, we do know, with some reason, how many undocumented people are here and to what extent they use services--not the least being the comprehensive study by the Natl Research Council, when commissioned by Congress to study these very issues. It's been studied by demographers and scientists. The fact that you hear wildly divergent numbers, doesn't invalidate those who have actually done the science.
Posted by anderson on May 30, 2007 03:25 PMWhat does it matter, NOTHING but amnesty is going to happen anyway so you may as well embrace it. sheep!
Posted by Fresh on May 30, 2007 03:27 PMAnderson,
You are correct with your statement that there are many different sets of numbers floating around as to the numbers of illegals. Here is another suggest! Instead of guessing, why not have the illegals register with the government, and then we can have an exact figure. When doing business or making any decisions I feel it is better to have TRUE numbers than just an ESTIMATE.
Once we obtain some true numbers then we can make an educated decision. The ESTIMATE for the "86" amnesty was 1 million. In fact it was 3 times that amount 3 million. If we make that same mistake the number this time would amount to 36 million plus extended families
Posted by jgd777 on May 30, 2007 03:40 PM"why not have the illegals register with the government, and then we can have an exact figure."
I believe that's in the proposed legislation that you keep saying we should deep six.
Posted by on May 30, 2007 03:54 PMI was talking about registering, not recieving a Z Visa, A Z VIsa is a get out of jail free card.

"Perhaps it's because the anti-Mexican brigade...."
THEN, anderson says this:
"I didn't say mention anything about racism. But now that you've brought it up...."
Who brought it up?!?
Watch out anderson, there's a scary RACIST waiting in the dark under your bed to get you.
BOO!! There's another one experssing views you don't agree with, BOO! and another one saying they want more border security, BOO! Keep jumping at shadows, anderson, BOO!
Watch out for ALL THOSE RACISTS, because that can be the only reason anyone would want to better control our borders, from Alaska to Brownsville. RIght, smarty?
Racism can be the ONLY thing behind this horrifying mentality. BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Yep, the mean ole boogey man racists are going to getcha Anderson. The voices in your head are telling you so, and in Spanish no less!!
Posted by A on May 30, 2007 04:44 PMI've apparently attracted a roving gang of idiots who understand taking sides--but not much more.
