Iraq war & Congress
Friday, May 11 at 11:29 AM

Brian Stuckey of Denver writes:

Sen. Harry Reid may be speaking for himself when he claims that the war-spending bill “was representative of the wishes of the American people,” but he is not speaking for the millions of Americans who support the troops and their mission in Iraq. If the Congress were truly focused on the goal to defeat terrorism, instead of politicizing the war, there would be no talk of benchmarks and timelines. The enemy is not having any such debate.

34% of the american people do not make a "majority" you clueless wonder...

And of course this majority makes up 25% of the people. But you're right he isn't speaking for the millions of people who support this war, he was speaking for the tens of millions who don't. The enemy is not having this debate, very true. They are also not drinking latte's and complaining about Paris Hilton going to jail.

Yes, blank check for the Shrub and his misgotten war of choice. That's what the American people want.

Keith,

I get the impression your three remaining synapses are misfiring. You need to chill out, drink another six pack, and forget about rational discourse and the life of the mind. You don't have one.

Posted by R.S. on May 11, 2007 03:33 PM

Keith: I warned you. I suggested you employ premier scribes like god appoints to get his word out. You are reaping what you sow and you are not sowing anything but ridicule. Me, your friendly deicide.

Where did Keith say anything about Iraq war approval rating? He said people are not for what the Dems are doing. You too are a MORON just like Repugnant is a MORON. You wait to attack with snippets of information. I truly feel sorry for your parents, especially your Mom who has to be reminded of you with a Mother's Day Card. MORONs both. Learn a bit of dialogue without hate. I DO NOT support Bush or his administration. I am tired of your MORONIC rants on here. Civility could help. Grow up MORON

Posted by Soros Mini Mi on May 11, 2007 05:12 PM

Soros, there is no civility amongst morons, especially people like the J-J-jackass You Poor Thing, who obviously didn't read the entire polling data that he/she so arrogantly cites while proceeding to attack someone's intelligence (and for something he didn't say). Obviously the retarded liberals (and there's a lot of them) who didn't learn from Vietnam what happens when you don't follow through with a commitment need a reminder. Now pay attention, OK? It's BAD. Got it? President Bush has screwed up this war in numerous ways, but that doesn't hide the fact that there are immense consequences to not following through. And as usual, he Democrats and the media are falling over themselves in a race to see who can be the best traitor.

Disgusting. You people make me sick.

Posted by Reality on May 11, 2007 09:50 PM

So if you have "bad" but you follow through, you get "less bad"? Maybe you get "a little closer to good".

Bush stuck a stick in a hornets nest, and now all the hornets in the area are joining in. This is a bad situation, but continuing to beat on the nest is going to make things better.?

Posted by Sharon B. on May 11, 2007 10:26 PM

Charles. The insults started above my post. Yes it is hypocrisy at its greatest and boldest. It is ok for you and others to hammer on those you disagree with it, but when I now ratchet it up a bit you call hypocrisy and foul play? Cmon we can try to dialogue and be civil. This goes for both sides of the aisle. I do not accept it from either side.

Posted by Soros Mini Mi on May 11, 2007 10:38 PM

Soros -

You tool!! You flamed on the word MORON. You've ruined my utterly moronic handle, which began as "Conservative Moron." Amazingly, "conservatives" found this distracting, so I just changed it to "moron."

Aside, you really think what you posted is "dialogue"? "Civil"? Please.

moron ----> Con Mor

Posted by moron on May 11, 2007 10:49 PM

Initially not on the dialogue. But please tell me where the dialogue of Repugnant, Charles, M242, and others create dialogue in the name calling? I did not start this and yes it was childish but have been so tired of the Hannity and Colmes act on here, just using Moronic dialogue to make a point.
A question though. Do you find it acceptable when name calling is used against conservatives or is that ok? Sincere question.

Posted by Soros Mini Mi on May 11, 2007 10:54 PM

reid was jumping up and down when he won the fight to let our S.S. run out.But A majority of people want to get there S.S. benefits,oh I must be making things up again about a majority.

Posted by Keith on May 12, 2007 07:33 AM

Soros,

If those of us who post here had a dollar for every time one of the "conservatives" begins a reply - or just a first posting - with some slam and epithet about "liberals", we would all have gas money for the coming Summer.

Now of course, that is not an attempt to use the old: "Other fellow does it, so we can do it to", excuse. It's not acceptable from either side, really. But, if you're goig to be a regular here, you better get used to it. It's there; and for some, it's the only way they have to try to make a point.

Patience may be a virtue; but at times there is an end to even the best of virtues. And that applies on both sides.

If I had a dollar for everytime a liberal repeated a lie Bill Gates would be working for me.

Posted by Keith on May 12, 2007 07:38 AM

Soros Mini Mi,

If a saliant point is made, I will respond with civil dialogue.

If the trolls are out and I'm bored, I will lay traps just for fun.

There are plenty of people who comment here who are willing to have a good discussion about issues, including me.

Fighting fire with fire as your post above did, is only going to get a flame war going. For the record, a good flame war can be fun sometimes as long as it's entertaining and no-one takes it personally.

Posted by Charles B on May 12, 2007 07:51 AM

That's OK. Let the liberals think they have the American people on their side. They will fall mighty hard in 2008 when the US does the same thing France did and gets rid of the take away any incentive to work hard liberals. I for one don't want to work my butt off so I can give more tax money to support illegal aliens. When are we going to say enough is enough and you can't have any more of my hard earned money????? The French lived Socialism and then they found out what a mess it is.

Posted by on May 12, 2007 10:04 AM

Unknown 10:04 poster. France had former colonies such as Algeria. They let those people move to France but did not give them or their children citizenship. Also those imagrants were discriminated against in jobs, housing and education.

France also had a post war agreement with its citizens that if they sacraficed for the war, they would have cradle to grave benefits of some type.

Now France has problems from both of those
policies.

We are not France and our situation does not compare, If Republicans win the White House and take back the House and Senate in 2008, my guess is that it will be because of somthing not apparent now.

Same sex marriage, gun control is confiscation, mothers just want to kill their unborn babies, all that drek has been tried and sometimes worked.

What will the Republicans dream up for the "values voters" that can bring them out in droves to take back power?

Got any ideas? If the illegal aliens issue does it then I predict it will be managed and flamed by the right-wing extreamist.

If voters again elect Republicans on a few ideas, God, guns, gays, or one issue, illegals, then we get more years of these bullys.

Forget illegals and Iraq, just for a moment. What have the Republicans in power for all these years done that you like? What programs, what new laws, what solutions to old problems?

Posted by Sharon B. on May 12, 2007 12:09 PM

Hi Sharon,

Excellent set of questions and responses.

But when the whole set of current candidates for President really resembles nothing more than a gaggle of Tweedledees, Tweedledums, and Tweedledumbers - pretty much on both sides presently - it's difficult to see much real change, or good, coming out of the immediate future anyway.

Posted by Old Grouch on May 12, 2007 01:22 PM

10;04 and sharon,You are both right, first France Germany and Canada with first hand experience realized that liberalism is a cancer that can be cured.sharon the dems. have screwed the blacks ever sense they got there so called freedom. They use self serving con men like sharpton, jackson who personally get million's of dollars to hand them the black vote. But those black's that slip through the cracks and get educated mostly vote republican.Check the facts and then you will agree with me.

Posted by Keith on May 12, 2007 01:53 PM

Anyone who thinks either France, Germany or Canada is going to end up more conservative than the least conservative Democrat is badly mistaken. Some of their socialist programs may be dismantled, but most will continue, albeit with reforms. You can be sure that there won't be any conservatives advocating that we become more like any of these countries.

Posted by Truth on May 12, 2007 02:06 PM

Keith,

Aside from Ms. Rice, and the Supreme Court Judge, please name those "educated blacks" who hold office in either the Republican Party or as Rpublican Party members in a major Federal office.

Or, please name those "educated blacks" who are prominent members of ANY part of the Republican Party campaign staff, or public relations.

Who are they?

Name a black Republican Party office holder, or major worker, in Colorado.

Well, it seems clear that there exists a cadre here who are actually honest.

Charles & Sharon B; Truth, anderson, Bango Skank, Old Grouch among others. (Sorry if I left anybody else out, it's late; I'm tired of working on insolvency issues).

My question is though, do you think having intellectually honest arguments is working? To have citations they do not, nor do they read. (despite the 1 calorie burned clicking the mouse.) Does it work to point out the idiocy of these flaming right wingers, repelete with big guns and ad hominems a staple? (despite statistical studies they don't beleive in) Their raging hypocrisy? I'm unconvinced.

Posted by Con Mor on May 13, 2007 04:52 AM

Con Mor,

Back in the days of such as the Lincoln Douglas debates, when heckling was an art form in and of itself; and the newspapers had never heard of PC, much less ever thought of practicing it, the Letters columns served the purpose this forum serves now. One could use them as means of sharpening one's own wits, as well as offering opportunity to force the opposition to at least give the appearance of "thinking through" a position or argument.

And they were, in their own way, for the day and age, fun too - though that might be an ex post facto judgment on my part.

I sincerely doubt that there was any more "convincing" of the opposition then than now; but there was an open-ness, and exposure of prejudices, etc., that served in a way to keep the political process from being nothing more than the later "decisions in smoke filled back rooms" it degenerated into as time went on.

Today, perhaps, it may do nothing more than allow release of frustrations, and "letting off of steam", that might otherwise be turned into the kind of "political" statements such as cross burnings, etc., that always seem to lurk in the background these days. Better here than there, anyway.

Posted by Old Grouch on May 13, 2007 09:00 AM

con mor,Nice list of village idiots but you left out drew.Your group of village idiots have not provided any intellectually honest arguments, just repeated liberal propanganda lies, some of those lies where provens lies over a year ago.Has your group of village idiots been in prison the last decade with no access to factual news.Did this little uneducated group end up in prison because of your strolls.

No use,

Let me put it this way: The one individual on this whole forum who is the most outstanding, most representative, most expressive, and most articulate voice of "conservatism" is the individual posting as "Keith". No one presents the "conservative" position on anything, and everything, better than he does.

Now of course, that's just my opinion. If you wish to evaluate yourself, or others, in relation to the matter, you are totally free so to do.

Posted by Old Grouch on May 14, 2007 06:57 AM

OLD GROUCH: I congratulate you! Your ability to splice words together scores a touchdown concerning Keith without uttering a word comensurate with the gutter. You have managed to cut into Keith without him shedding a drop of blood. And, possibly, he does not know he's been cut. This is the essence of tact. Thanks for not lowering yourself to his level and that Happy Fool who by now will undergo self-examination and comport themselves with better manners.

In keeping with the common sense herein articulated, I let someone else convey my sentiment on religion. Me, your friendly deicide chosen to rid the swamps of repression gods create.

Caution this post does not occur twice herein:

Keith, my boy, you are courting expulsion. Big Brother is watching. The moderator provides, like cross examination mandates a large berth, the posters in this forum are accorded freedom to say nearly anything they so desire but there is a limit. You are about to be stricken from this forum. You need to chill out and comport yourself accordingly.

We will miss you. Sharon enjoys a good laugh in reading your posts; Old Grouch good naturedly singles you out for ridicule. I am singled out for ridicule; however, my response is not vulgarity or insult; I just hit 'em with chunks of silence.

I'll prophesy that one more vulgar outburst from you will result in your suspension from this forum as the moderator's patience with you will have run out. Me, your friendly deicide chosen to drain the swamp of repression gods create.

FYI Keith: It is "moderator" not "mediator." The mediator mediates disputes; the moderator extricates. Keith: Posting the same words 5 times as aforeposted is abuse of this forum. We don't want to lose you.
