Iraq war vs. Virginia Tech massacre
Monday, May 7 at 9:58 AM

Vivian Taylor of Aurora writes:

I just saw where 99 American troops were killed this month. That story didn’t get all the handwringing and outcry that 35 deaths at VT. Doesn’t the families of these military men miss their love ones and care about them as much. I, too, am saddened by the VT victims, but at the same time I wish our military would get some coverage of their senseless deaths so more people can demand a stop to their killings.

What is with the automatic association that deaths are equivalent? A hell of a lot more people die in cars than have in Iraq or in the VT shooting, but we never hear cries to end the auto violence. Why? Because most rational human beings can see there is a big difference between getting killed in a wreck and being killed by a psychopath. Is it so hard to see the difference between people who chose a duty that they knew might lead to sacrificing their own lives, and people who died because of a nutjob stalker? I guess so.

Nut job stalker, nut job president, nut job road rager and a lot of people dead who need not be. See no difference.

I wish I could live with such a simplistic worldview J. I envy you.

Compare the publicity given to the VT victims and Bush's American GI victims in Iraq. If Bush had his way, we would know even less about the fact that Americans are dying in a failed debacle. Who is the real psychopath?

OK then how about the nearly 200 or so that were killed in Iraq by a suicide bomber in the market on the day after VT? Equally innocent, killed by someone equally crazy. Theres no facebook groups, and within 2 days after you couldn't find anything in the news.

Certainly death from car crashes comes at a benifit, (getting around quick) but VT deaths vs. equally innocent Iraqi deaths from a suicide bomber in a marketplace is apples to apples. It seems you're egotistical and the only innocent lives that matter are yours.
