James Dobson
Wednesday, May 9 at 1:54 PM

Chris Colbea of Denver writes:

Mr. Dobson, I am sorry for what ever happened in your damaged past that makes you wake up everyday and attack gay people. However I have had enough of your antics.
I am a Colorado native and I am gay. My parents were born here, my grandparents were born here and this is my home. I will no longer tolerate your misguided, hateful, divisive, anti-Christian attack on good people like myself. Not in my home.
While you are busy obsessing about what I am doing in my bedroom, we are trying to solve poverty and homelessness. While you are trying to deny me my basic civil rights, we are trying to end child abuse and domestic violence.
While you are worrying about my love life, we are working at protecting our beautiful rivers and mountains.
If you would like to join the rest of us working on these important issues facing this great state, you are welcome to contribute. But I will no longer allow you waste our time, divide our communities, and take focus from the real issues facing Colorado. I will no longer let you spew your hate to fill your pocket book. I will no longer allow you to tarnish the good name of Colorado. I will not allow you to use the word of God to attack good honest people. This is certainly NOT what Jesus would do.
This David has had enough of Goliath. It is time to behave like a good neighbor or go back to your home of Tennessee. This is my home and this ends now.

READER COMMENTS

It is hard to ignore the pious pornography of Dobson. He is a sick man. However, as someone else observed a bit ago, when the Brits were casting off their religious wingnuts and their felons, they sent the first group to America, the second to Australia. Australia clearly got the better deal.

I think maybe Dobson has the same tendencies as Ted Haggard and to compensate he lashes out at gays.

Maybe Dobson will do anything for a "Buck".

Religion has very little to do with God. It does have a lot to do with control and money.

James Dobson, just another closet case who thinks he can hate the gay away. In addition to his umpti-million zombies who insist on taking a literal translation of the Bible, even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff.

I love the attitude of the letter. My opinion of Dobson is "hey Dobs, if you are on fire, call me, otherwise shut up."

"Mr. Dobson, I am sorry for what ever happened in your damaged past that makes you wake up everyday and attack gay people."

He may not be looking so much at his damaged past as he is his financial future.

I was not born left-handed; I couldn't help it: I was born right-handed. Dobson would have punished me for having no control over the way I was born. He and Jesus Christ are a lot alike.

Jehovah sends Jesus (if you believe that) as a Jew for the Jews. Jesus is transmogrified into a Christian god and double-crosses his dad and becomes anti-Semitic.

Hence: Dobson hates gays; Jesus hates Jews, the white sepelchured (sp) fools and liars, as he calls them, claiming anyone who uses the word "fool" to describe somebody is going to hell.

Frau Dobson is a textbook case of latent homosexuality, as is his Kansas counterpart, the Good Reverand Phelps.
That aside, both should at the very least lose their tax exempt status for using a pulpit for political reasons.
If you wanna play, ya gotta pay.

dmz,

Dobson isn't really a preacher - unless someone such as Haggard zapped him into that status in whatever franchise of the Je$u$ Bu$ine$$ happened to be open - and offered on the cheap - at the time. He calls himself a "child psychologist"; and his corporation comes under that part of IRS 501c(?) - Seven (7) I think is the sub-section - dealing with tax exempt bodies (foundations), including political parties, that are "informational", "educational", or the like. No one has to like the "information", or really believe anything presented as "education", of course. But that's how Dobsonism gets away with it.

That he has a cult following does serve to confuse the issue; as does his own form of "preaching" his hate-mongers message from the pulpits of those who themselves are making hay with the hate-monger shtick. But, for tax purposes, he's got it made.

The Phelps gang has made a point of having a number of the family go to law school, and somehow pass the Bar, thereby insuring that attempts to deal with their cult will encounter as much expensive and time consuming oppostion, and counter action, as humanly possible. Even the IRS doesn't have the resources to keep up a siege such as would be necessary to hurt Phelps & Co., in the pocketbook. Remember Waco? And/or the Cyanide Kool-Aid Cult? (Wasn't that guy named "James Jones"? Odd coincidence, if he were.)

Anyway, it all boils down to:

Gimme that ol' Je$u$ Bu$ine$$!
It'll make lots of money for me!
(You know the tune.)

I think James Dobson is little more than a thug.

The mouse named "Faith" answers the Easter Bunny who asks: "Why do you avoid the cat named "Reason" ~~~ The mouse answers: "Even the dumbest animal recognizes his natural enemy."

Happy days, fellow posters: Bush thinks he is the decider; however I know I'm your friendly deicide plotting to slay the fictional assassin in Luke 19:27 who says: Bring them hither and kill them in front of me.

Hey Chris...I don't care if you are gay! I don't need to hear about it....keep it in the bedroom. I don't care if someone is gay...until they start flaunting it in my face!

Hey Chris...I don't care if you are gay! I don't need to hear about it....keep it in the bedroom. I don't care if someone is gay...until they start flaunting it in my face!

Are you ok then with someone like, say, Paris Hilton constantly flaunting her heterosexuality (not to mention her lack of underwear) in the media? Or shows like Howard Stern's and The Man Show that feature jiggling, giggling porn stars?

Are you speaking up against any of that, by any chance? Or do you just have an issue with hypersexuality when it's presented by someone who's gay? (And I can't honestly think of any gays the media features on a constant basis who are vulgarly displaying their sexuality.)

Posted by mytwosense on May 10, 2007 03:56 PM

1:35 poster sounds like a man. Wonder if all that stuff gay men do offends this guy if it is done with women? Wonder if he buys the magazines that specalise in non-vaginal sex.?

Posted by Sharon B. on May 10, 2007 07:47 PM

Aw Allah Christ 01:35: Don't get uptight; however, you mimic Rev. Phelps and Dobson. Only a misogynist would go bonkers over Chris' letter. Me, your friendly deicide.
