Jerry Falwell
Wednesday, May 30 at 1:37 PM

Charlie Donalson of Denver writes:

Honestly, I protest your assumption....that Jerry Falwell was allowed into... Heaven!
Despite “The Good, he is perceived to have done, (Classic example of Opportunisim) His lasting legacy...does NOT MERIT your preposed “Entrance into Heaven", as depicted in your 2 Editorial Cartoons.
How many “Bibical Sins", did he violate?
Where do I start?
Stealing from the Poor and ignorant?
Taking their money and his position of power and fostering Hate.
Doesn’t the “Golden Rule” count for Anything?
Mr. Falwell was sent away at the “Gates of Heaven”
In my mind...God was not pleased to see him.

No I was not pleased, he is currently taking it from the back side with a bigfoot claw for eternity.

It's been said that Falwell had an attack where his heart should have been.

Falwell is chasing a cream donut around in hell - Tinky-Winky keeps it just ahead of his chubby outstretched fingers.

Damn, drew, I nearly shot my soda out through my nose when I read that one! I can just see that fantastic scene right now . . . LOL!!!

Falwell is in hog Heaven

I hate to tell you guys but there is no heaven, no hell either. The sooner we humans get past our ancient fantasies concerning omnipotent deities and life after death the sooner we can all work together to start solving some of the problems facing us in this life.

Dave II,

Would it be inappropriate to say "you're preachin' to the Choir"?

no matter what your belief, i choose to believe hell has a special place for falwell

My God is a forgiving God who cautions His followers
"judge not, lest ye be judged" and
"the measure you use to judge your neighbor will be used to measure your transgressions" and
"you who are free of sin, cast the first stone" and
"why do you worry over the splinter in your neighbor's eye when you have a log in your own."
Just sayin'.........
No comment from you, Richard.

-J- if those 4 things you mentioned ; (1) being judged if I judge (2) being judged in kind (3) only sinless can judge and (4) can`t worry over others splinters if I have one too, are all that keep me from judging falwell, then I will accept 3 of them and judge anyway.

3 out of 4 isn`t too much punishment for the pleasure of judging that man.

Sharon B.-
Just sayin" ..............doesn't mean I don't agree with your judgement, LOL. Not attempting to judge you either. :-)

Hey, "Get Real"-----get real!!!! Opinions are like a@#holes, we've all got 'em. BUT, just cause you have one doesn't mean you have to act like one......

Ah J. let me say: Jesus' mother cast the first stone.

How much ya wanna bet that -J- would be judging J. Falwell plenty if he'd been:
a: homosexual?
b: a woman seeking an abortion?
c: an immigrant who enjoyed speaking his native language?
d: a member of the Clinton family?

Contrary to Mr. Donalson's letter, the truth is that Falwell's works among the poor and disadvantaged far surpass anything that most of his detractors will ever do. Falwell and his church established a home and treatment center for alcoholics, a support ministry for prisoners, a ministry helping young women with unplanned pregnancies find alternatives to abortion, social ministries in the inner city, as well as respected schools including Lynchburg Christian Academy and Liberty University. Those who knew him, friends and enemies alike, respected him and called him a friend. As always, the truth about individuals is quite different than most of the sensationalized mass media portrayals. Visit newsadvance.com (local Lynchburg, VA newspaper) for a balanced view of Falwell's life.

HCB-
Since you are trying to put words in my mouth (thread)........
1. My stand on sexual orientation is "don't ask, don't tell" nobody's business who you sleep with.
2.Women should have the right to choose BUT abortion should not be used for birth control.
3.Speak your native language but learn the language of your "home country" and use it when interacting with your fellow country-men(women).
4.I was a total Clinton supporter (no pun intended), again, I think your sex life is your business even if you are the POUS.

AND, since you started it, I really didn't like or support Jerry Falwell and I was just trying to lend a little levity to the thread......jeeez, crucify me why don't cha? (LOL)

Posted by -J- on June 1, 2007 02:21 PM

-J- all levity will be grounded on this forum. I didn`t get the Clinton pun.

Dave,
Unfortunately, most of the posters in these forums do not want to hear anything good about Jerry Falwell or any other person that professes faith in Christ. If they ever recognize that Jesus is Who the Bible says He is, they will have to come to terms with their own sin. It is much easier to believe that this universe is a cosmic accident, just so much stuff that came together over time to exist as it does today.

Well, -J-, I'm glad someone else is trying to infuse a little levity into these proceedings (although frankly I think my post was funnier than yours). But I have to hand it to your answer, even if I wasn't exactly putting words in your mouth (thread). I merely offered a wager (in the spirit of that upstanding moral Republican Bill Bennett) that you would be more likely to judge J. Falwell if he were a member of a less politically popular tribe. If I misjudged you, I apologize. As for Falwell, I think real Christians (not that "war on Christmas" crowd that Falwell spawned--metaphorically speaking, of course) will be able to forgive Falwell even if I'm not.

I hope Sharon B. is wrong about levity being grounded on ths forum. All these forums could certainly use some at times (even if some of the biggest laughs come from the correspondents who are being deadly serious).

skeptical hilariously acknowledged:

"It is much easier to believe that this universe is a cosmic accident, just so much stuff that came together over time to exist as it does today."

Yes it is skeptical. It's far easier to believe your "cosmic accident" theory than it is to believe all those crazy stories you tell about ghosts and magic. It's entertaining how you try to sound so ominous though. Thanks for being such an unintentional clown.

Now go ahead and mount your steed of righteous ignorance and trot out into the wilderness to live on your prayers and your hopes. The story will one day be told of how they found your bones; still clutching the promise of Pascal's wager desperately to your chest.

I've asked you before: Could you be any more impotent?

"Most people think,
Great God will come from the skies,
Take away everything
And make everybody feel high.
But if you know what life is worth,
You will look for yours on earth:
And now you see the light,
You stand up for your rights. jah!"
