Liberal Democrats
Tuesday, May 8 at 10:44 AM

Bill Horton of Fort Collins writes:

It isn’t absolutely necessary to be a hypocrite to be a liberal Democrat. . . but it sure helps.
For example, you have to advocate stricter gun control laws, but ignore that school campuses, post offices, and New York City are gun-free zones.
You have to claim there is global warming, when snow covered Colorado from before Christmas to early April.
You have to deplore Don Imus as a racist, while honoring the Revs. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakan, who are in the racism business..
You have to deplore the “Religious Right” political influence, while approving the political activities of the above-named “Reverends.”
You have to call President Bush a liar for claiming Iraq had WMD, when intelligence services of several nations claimed they had, and Iraq had used such weapons against Iran and their own people.
You have to favor Congressional control of the Iraq War and forget the record they had controlling the Vietnam War.
You have to favor Choice regarding abortion, but oppose Choice of schools via voucher systems.
You have to explain how killing a day-old child is murder, but deliberately killing a child in the process of being born is not.
You have to claim the economy is awful, and ignore that IRS receipts and the stock market are at record highs, and unemployment is near record lows.
You have to oppose ANWAR and offshore oil drilling and building refineries, while deploring the cost of gas and gasoline.
You have to claim Valerie Plame was a covert CIA agent, when she commuted daily from home to her CIA office.
Life is tough for Democrats, but hypocrisy makes it easier.

Keep up the good work! Nothing gets the job done like a hillbilly from Fart Collins! You are what makes America what it is today!

You missed a few items:

On Global Warning: Perform massive speaking engagments telling everyone to cut down on their carbon emissions while traveling between in private jets and motorcades of numerous vehicles. But since you can buy carbon offsets, you're ok.
On Gun-Control: This only applies to "average" people. You're bodyguards have to be armed to protect you.

Bill, the hypocrisy in your letter is so thick it's delicious.

Posted by conservative media on May 8, 2007 02:57 PM

To summarize:

Guns are great, there's no climate change because we still have snow in Colorado, Dems are racist (funny!), Bush is great - and not a liar, Bush is great & he's done such a swell job that Congress should have no say in his war, saving a fetus is the most noble thing around, fetuses and school vouchers are comparable, the economy is swell (let's ignore deficits), please drill for oil on our shorelines & in Alaska, Valerie Plame wasn't a covert agent because she (gasp) lived in a house in the suburbs & COMMUTED to work (apparently she never lived in a secret underground bunker with Dr Evil on an exotic island & never had a fountain pen that concealed a weapon of mass destruction).

If you want to see a profile of the 25% who still support the imbecile-in-chief look no further than people like 'ol Bill Horton.

Life is tough for Republicans but stupidity makes it tougher.

"It isn’t absolutely necessary to be a hypocrite to be a liberal Democrat. ."

What if you're a not-so-liberal Democrat or a liberal-Republican? Which of these types should we suspect more? But maybe they aren't defined in the talk radio lexicon so we can't know. How about a liberal-on-Saturday night but conservative-on-Sunday morning Democrat? That sounds like someone who could definitely be a hypocrite. Gee, it all gets so confusing.

Does nonsense like this letter make it to the print edition?

Posted by on May 8, 2007 03:46 PM

I'd bet pretty much this entire letter came off the Internet, and the "letter-writer" just affixed his name.

Bill may be right about global warming. It may not come till this summer when the snow in the mountains melts. Those crazy scientists on all sides, with all their computer models and scientific jargon. All they need to do is look out the window at the mountains. Thanks, Bill, for simplifying the global warming debate.

Republicans and Democrats at each others throats.

It's like watching two drunks fighting over an empty bottle while the building around them is on fire.

While Americans bicker with each other, there are countries closing the economic gap and passing America by.
In a few short years, the US will have the third largest economy, and be massively in debt.

Bill Horton, you can see how this liberal anti-american tabloid operates. If you repeat lies you get posted,if you tell the truth you get deleted.

This is a real nice Dem love in you guys have going here. which one of you is lucky pierre?

Posted by No use on May 9, 2007 08:37 AM

Funny how all the left here prefer to insult the letter writer rather than address any of the hypocracy accusations he made. I'm sure I'll hear how the accusations are to absurd to even attempt to address. Usual cop out excuses are common these days. But with such absurdity you'd think you guys could out quip this guy in a flash.

Oh well.

Posted by KW on May 9, 2007 09:20 AM

I don't know about you but I'm insulted when someone cuts and pastes something off the internet and presents it as his own writing. I'm also insulted when that writing is designed to appeal to those thinking at about a junior high level. I don't know about you, but I tend not to believe infomercials.

Posted by anderson on May 9, 2007 10:48 AM

It's even fnnier how nobody on the left has made an insult to anybody on here. kw and keith keep spouting off about facts, but they have yet to share any of them with anybody else. It's simply obnoxious when somebody says something that is true. bush lied to get us into war, that's a fact. It is bush's war and we are killing innocent civilians, another fact. NSA wiretaps are illegal, that's another fact. These guys don't want to accept what has been proven many times over.

Posted by on May 9, 2007 11:51 AM

11:51 - When you say "nobody on the left has made an insult to anybody on here" are you closing your eyes and pretending?

So far I see Grog, conservative media, Drew, Charles B, anderson, anon 3:46 & Ah yes.

So no, it's not "even funnier." Get a clue, you choose to make believe rather than deal with reality. And that's a scary thing considering you have a right to vote.

And don't you ever get tired of repeating liberal mantra (lies) like "bush lied to get us into war, that's a fact." Sounds more like a punch line now that you repeat it so often. Give it to Kerry, maybe he can botch it up for you.

Posted by KW on May 9, 2007 12:17 PM

Since you couldn't find any of these "insults", I'd say yes, it is even funnier. What am I make believing? No, I don't get tired of it because you assume that since I want people to be accountable for what they do, that I am a liberal, or democrat, or whoever you think is out to get you. If you think this whole war is a punch line, then I won't keep you from thinking that. Why don't you help your boy win this war and then tell everybody what a great punch line it is.

Posted by on May 9, 2007 12:27 PM

Funny how all the left here prefer to insult the letter writer rather than address any of the hypocracy accusations he made. I'm sure I'll hear how the accusations are to absurd to even attempt to address.

KW, you actually think everything this letter writer wrote is a fair comparison? You actually think that it's hypocritical to be against drilling in ANWAR if one complains about gas prices, for instance?

I mean, one could turn that around and say the letter writer is a hypocrite if he complains about gas prices but believes we shouldn't concentrate on developing alternative forms of energy besides fossil fuels.

As for the letter-writer's numerous presumptions about liberals, I personnally took afront to being told I "honor" Jesse Jackson. The hell I do! And I don't even know enough about the other two to give any opinions on them, much less "honor" them.

I also can't say for sure I understand all the theories behind global warming, but I'm certainly not ready to conclude that just because it snowed here this winter, that means there is no such thing as global warming.

Those are just a few examples, but basically reflect my opinion about every item the letter writer listed. They were all poorly constructed comparisons with little intention other than to incite just more hate against a good number of his fellow Americans.

Posted by mytwosense on May 9, 2007 12:34 PM

"You have to claim Valerie Plame was a covert CIA agent, when she commuted daily from home to her CIA office."

In a letter full of stupidity, this is the most entertaining. How do REAL covert agents get to work, you flatulent fool?

Posted by B. Drunk on May 9, 2007 12:49 PM

MTS - I made my comment after reading the swipes others were making. They apparently couldn't counter the letter writers argument so they attacked it. They even attacked me just for pointing it out.

You weren't included in my conclusion because you hadn't posted anything yet. Your post so far is the only one to refute the assertions. Good job. Not that I agree but at least it's a start.

Posted by KW on May 9, 2007 01:35 PM

KW

Intelligent people have neither the time nor the inclination to "refute" garbage. And the fact that old Bill's assertions are garbage is self-evident to any thinking person. Plus it sounds like he stole them from the Internet. And plagiarism is dishonest, KW. But looking at Bush, Gonzales, Wolfowitz, etc it seems that honesty isn't a conservative value.

Posted by Drew on May 9, 2007 04:52 PM

Well this post is definitely needed to explain people like drew" So how many liberals does it take to change a lite bulb?Answer:Doesn't make a difference,They still refuse to see the lite.

Posted by Keith on May 9, 2007 07:38 PM

Just like how many conservatives does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: The light bulb doesn't need to be changed, and if you think it does you're unpatriotic and hate America.

Posted by on May 10, 2007 07:49 AM

7:49,You made my point,You could see the bilb was burnt out.

Posted by Keith on May 10, 2007 08:41 AM

And what point would that be?

Posted by on May 10, 2007 09:04 AM

Keith's point was that the "bilb was burnt out" - don't you see?

Posted by Drew on May 10, 2007 09:22 AM

oh yes, of course now I see.

Posted by on May 10, 2007 09:35 AM

I thought Keith was a "dim bulb" but I was wrong. He is actually a "dim bilb."

Posted by Drew on May 10, 2007 10:38 AM

Drew - In my original post I mentioned there would be those of you claiming what you claimed. It's called a copout excuse.

Liberals are too busy for things like liberal radio shows, refuting assertions, etc... or at least that's the excuse you fall back on quite regularly. Pretty funny stuff.

Posted by KW on May 10, 2007 11:34 AM

And republicans are too busy calling people who don't agree with them unamerican, and shifting focus from one scapegoat to the next, and pointing out things that democrats have done wrong in the past.

Posted by on May 10, 2007 11:51 AM

Quit giving your party a pass on every wrong doing and we'll quit having to point out your hypocracy.

Posted by KW on May 10, 2007 12:00 PM

First of all I don't belong to a "party", I simply want people to be accountable for what they do. I know you don't and that's ok. And what are these wrong doings you speak of? Wanting to have an end in sight for this war?

Posted by on May 10, 2007 12:08 PM

KW,

Try posting something thoughtful, credible and original & I'll gladly take the time to respond - I've done it before. Steal a post from the Internet that contains a bunch of tired cliches and it'll be ridiculed.

Posted by Drew on May 10, 2007 12:12 PM

Face it folks, if your comments don't fit rigidly within the "it's liberals v. conservatives and let there be no thought in-between" paradigm, (see Bill Horton, KW, and Keith), then you just ain't communicatin' and some people just aren't going to understand anything you say.
