Public schools

Frederick C. Sage of Boulder writes:

One of the worst things you can do is give someone heavy responsibility, deny him adequate tools and then kick him around when he fails. This is what we have done with the schools. We can disregard Mike Rosen who blames all the troubles in the world, including athletes foot in Hawaiian geckos, on the teachers’ union.
When you have a high percentage of kids who come out of families where education is not a priority you will have problems. A big effort should be made to get people, not only literate, but articulate, in English. I know that people are considered to be racist who think that those who live here need to be able to use the language of the country but, so be it.

It is too easy to blame all of society's woes on teachers. There are more parents that vote than there are teachers. It allows people the freedom to not have to think, and it lessens the responsibility of parenting from their shoulders.

If parents don't step up and take responsibility for their childrens education , I think we should not invest extra funds to educate the child. I'm tired of education funds going to kids who don't want an education and have parents that could care less. These funds should be going to children who want to learn and advanced classes.
Alot of parents send their children to school unprepared, have not taught them how to behave and expect the schools to teach and babysit their children.Alot of these kids cause problems and disrupt classes daily. These kids need to be removed from the class and put into a class away from the children who want to learn.
Stop pouring money into kids who don't want to be in school.Stop catering and begging high school students into going to school. You can't force a kid to get an edecation. It is wasting time and money.
I want my tax dollars to go to teaching my children who love school are well behaved and realize that school is their #1 priority.
If the parents don't care and the student doesn't care then why should we care. Let's just face the fact that some kids and parents are not worth the extra money tax payers have to spend to force them to get an education that they could care less about.
This is my version of cut and run.
