Thank you for publishing part of my letter on April 25 ("Smiley Middle is a DPS shining star"). You did not publish the data that I included in my letter that supported my statements. Without the data my letter is a mere testimonial. With the data included the public would have been informed of the concrete facts behind the success of the Smiley IPM program. I will offer these CSAP scores again: DPS Smiley IPM Reading: Grade 6: 38% 81.3% Grade 7: 36% 78.9% Grade 8: 36% 84.6% Writing Grade 6: 36% 66.7% Grade 7: 31% 81.5% Grade 8: 27% 71.2% Math Grade 6: 31% 74.4% Grade 7: 21% 68.4% Grade 8: 17% 71.2% Science Grade 8: 20% 50.0% Smiley IPM has been actively seeking funding to achieve IBO authorization and expand the program to serve more students in the NE Quadrant. The public deserves all information available as DPS moves forward with reform.
