Vice President Cheney
Thursday, May 3 at 12:54 PM

Tom Harper of Denver writes:

In a parliamentary system, a vote of no confidence would have removed the incompetent and the nefarious among our executive branch long ago. We don’t have that option in the United States. We must wait until we suspect our leaders in the executive have violated federal law before we can attempt to remove them. I suspect that Vice President Cheney fits that bill, with far more dire consequnces growing from his violations than ever followed President Clinton’s reluctance to come clean about a stained dress. Impeachment proceedings against the Vice President would allow the legislative branch to ferret out the truth about the many suspicions that dog him, from Halliburton no-bid contracts to sworn testimony now believed to be lies. If he’s not guilty or undeserving of further sanction, impeachment will not be sustained, but so many questions surround his conduct that they must be answered.

and what makes the Clinton admin. the most corrupt ever keith?

Tom wrote a very well written letter. Too bad his information is poor, or he is unaware of what it takes for The House to bring impeachment charges.

Article II section 4 of the United States Constitution:
The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Should Mr.Harper show cause for such articles of impeachment to begin (some high crime or misdemeanor perhaps), I will be right there backing him up 100% and will write my congressman to draft those articles. Until that time, I would say that Mr. Harper is expressing slanderous statements at best.

I hope the Dems cry impeachment from the rafters for the next two years. It will show them as the petty, vindictive, immature children that they really are. Plus, it will keep them from screwing up the country more than they already have through the decades.

Check your history old double R (yes your hero Ronald Reagon) employed the most criminals ...

"225 different people in the Ronald Reagan administration have either quit, been fired, been arrested, indicted, or convicted of either breaking the law or violating the Ethics Code; Edwin Meese alone, the Attorney General, has been investigated by three separate Special Prosecutors." source Wikipedia

But not to worry I am sure "W" does have a real chance of passing that mark by the time all comes out. The biggest crime will be the war profiteering conducted by the henchies of the Vice President at Halliburton. How does that company get so many no-bid contracts tied to a war without end? I guess using the blood of our soldiers to line the pockets of Neo-Con supporters is not considered a crime anymore.

I usually don't resort to name calling, but here's the truth.

Anyone that thinks one party is 100% correct all the time, and can't see that Bush, et al have made mistakes, is a complete and total idiot.

Posted by BO on May 4, 2007 04:54 AM

Bo you didn't call any names that I could see, and you are right that no party is correct 100% After all even elected officals are HUMAN and in such are limited to the same mistakes we all are. That is why it is dangerous to have a single party system without the checks and balances of Congress and the courts.

Many of the current issues are tied to uncontrolled power, like a spoiled child that gets all it wants nothing is ever enough. So can it be said for this administration, who knows how things would have turned out IF OTHER ELECTED OFFICALS had played their role in government during the last six years and not let the administration run wild.

hey brad go back and check your source wikipedia. It is one source I love because I can go in and change what is there with no problem. why not quote cnn or msnbc or go talk to kerry those are great sources too

Ok let's play Mr. FOX NEWS, since you didn't give your name. Here is a link:

http://www.arikah.com/encyclopedia/Ronald_Reagan

"The Reagan administration saw several controversies unfold in their ranks which resulted in a number of administration staffers being convicted. The most well known, the Iran-Contra affair, involved a plan whereby weapons were sold to Iran and the profits diverted to fund the Nicaraguan Contras.

Several other controversies also occurred in the Reagan administration; one involved Department of Housing secretary Samuel Pierce and his associates. Wealthy contributors to the administration's campaign were rewarded with funding for low income housing development without the customary background checks, and lobbyists, such as former EPA head James G. Watt, were rewarded with huge lobbying fees for assisting campaign contributors with receiving government loans and guarantees. Six administration staffers were convicted.

Also involving the EPA: funds from the Superfund to clean up toxic waste sites were being released to enhance the election prospects of local politicians aligned with the admin"

We then go into scandals to include the EPA, Savings and Loans, HUD, Air traffic controlers, and lobbying. Now your turn to provide FACTS not opinions.

Brad,

I certainly have to admire your courage, as well as your thoughtful postings. But, I also have to add that I am sometimes amazed at your naievte.

The Ruling-Class Party, and its faithful followers, never provide FACTS; especially where emotional rant, cant, and mindless insults will muddy up the waters; and turn debate into nothing more than mud slinging. After all, their own "fearless Decider" gives them the example; and how can they not follow that?

Go all the way back into the 1920's, and the Teapot Dome scandal; or, if you prefer, take a look at Nixon, Agnew, and that bunch. Nixon himself - at the time President of the United States(!) - was named as an "unindicted CRIMINAL co-conspirator", before finally being forced out of office. While Agnew, the Vice President, was convicted in Court of his various felonies.

But, that has never mattered to them. And, it really doesn't matter now. The "spoils system" is their only idea of how to "govern". (Along with a, "Just don't get caught" attitude as well.) That's what makes them the "Ruling-Class party".

There's a special place in Hell for that particular Dick

Old Grouch, thank you. I don't mind having a bit of naievte about me after all life is about learning. Don't we all actually have a lot left to learn? I have been posting today because I enjoy the feedback, I read what people post if they agree or not agree, and in turn I hope they give some thought to things as well. I laugh at the attacks after all if the only response someone offers is anger then their life is truly empty.

Side note, which maybe should be a new topic, but do you have some hesitation about a Democrat winning in 2008? The one party system of the last 6 years hurt this country so much. I don't know about having uncontrolled power again in DC. I wish the Republicans would find someone moderate to run, someone like McCain was in 2000. I think it is too late for McCain now since he as sold his soul to Rove. Witness his vote on allowing torture.

Where in the hell is sharon b.,she knows she is responsible to change little bradley's diaper.

Posted by Keith on May 4, 2007 09:09 AM

Keith for someone with SO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY in this world, and are such a big man you sure seem to spend a lot of time trying to knock others down. Maybe bring some facts to the table and attempt to debat the issues. Otherwise you are leading us all to think you have some real ego issues. Bullying is the first sign of a coward.

Posted by Brad on May 4, 2007 09:20 AM

I am sure that Dick Cheney made some real estate deals, fired somebody at sometime, had sex, used official White House stationary for personal usage, and has had guests over at his official VP residence. If it the reason for the investigation is petty enough for Clinton, it is deserved for Cheney since he seems to be immune from prosecution of real crimes and misdemeanours.

Posted by Sean on May 4, 2007 02:23 PM

What the crime of your terrible grammar or Dick Cheney’s high crimes and misdemeanors. And you are calling me the child left behind? Buddy you got left behind in 1984.

Posted by Sean on May 4, 2007 04:37 PM

Keith, you're such a funny guy - what would this site do without you?

Posted by Drew on May 4, 2007 04:48 PM

Do you use the same language when in church, or do you, like most conservatives, love thy neighbor only for two hours on Sundays?

Posted by Sean on May 4, 2007 05:17 PM

Brad,

I have to agree that the forum can be a lot of fun at times; and I've certainly had some good belly laughs out of it. In some ways, it's what keeps a lot of us coming back, and at least trying to be a part of the marketplace of ideas.

There are those who are just tiresome, and tiring; and I don't need to name names. Humor is one thing, gutter mind and potty mouth are really something else entirely.

But, I do enjoy reading someone who thinks, as you do, when presenting a point.

As to 2008, we've survived the 2 Party system for so long now - under even worse conditions than the past 6 years - that, for myself, I think a complete 'turn of the wheel", Executive and Legislative, is about the only way we can keep any balance at all. Sort of like the old spring wound watch; things only go forward by "back and forth" power generation.

IF the Ruling-Class Party should - even could? - come up with someone other than one of last evening's debate group, it really would surprise me. (Though not enough to catch my vote, I'm afraid.)

Thanks for the reply. Hope to see you again on line.
