Welcome, ICE
Although it seems too little and too late, many of us hope many Immigration and Customs Enforcement substations spring up to fight this illegal invasion (“ICE expansion?/Report sees need for sub-offices in Greeley, Springs,” April 28).
If only ICE had been in the picture more than 10 years ago, perhaps this massive influx of illegals would not be so out of hand.
Welcome to the neighborhood, ICE, and good luck! If you need volunteer help you could recruit area residents to help with this out-of-control problem.

An ICE agent should be stationed at every one of Mayor Hick's eateries. As the mayor gives sanctuary (e.g. jobs) to the illegal aliens who are here to commit crimes, ICE can haul them off and deport them.
Posted by QBT on May 8, 2007 01:12 AMEverytime ICE tries to do their job, someone cries "racism!" They took care of Swift, now they need to hit some construction sites and really make some arrests! Oh sorry..I know...I'm a racist.
Posted by my name 2 on May 8, 2007 02:11 AMWe need to penalize the businesses which hire the illegals (henceforth to be known as illegal employers) - for instance, if you truly believe that Swift has gotten rid of all illegals, buy their products - otherwise, boycott them. Send letters or emails to you Congressional representatives DEMANDING meaningful penalties for hiring illegals. (Remember a few years ago when WalMart was fined $11 million? That year, WalMart made $285 BILLION - you might compare it to a 25 cent fine for doing 50 MPH in a school zone - no deterrent at all.) Between the illegal employers & the corporations which offshore jobs (for instance, over the next year or so, IBM will offshore in the vicinity of 150,000 US jobs) the middle class in this country belongs at the top of the endangered species list.
Posted by Mary on May 8, 2007 04:36 AMCome deport illegals at
1455/1465 Kingston in Aurora.
The Aurora Polce are useless at it.
Its funny when you go to Construction sites and wear an ICE hat, how they scatter, where are the real ICE agents. Why did not ICE round up the illegals when they had the parade to demand their so called rights.
Posted by P on May 8, 2007 06:58 AMAnd when our border patrol does there job the Bush administration has them busted. If ICE needs help doing those jobs, There are plenty of us under paid American workers that could help, BUT ONLY AT THE MARKET
VALUE OF THE JOB. Lets see which party gives a rats ass about us working class voters.
If there were an effort to execute these "raids" on illegal immigrants AND also to penalize businesses who employ them simultaneously, we would gradually see the illegals start to return to their countries of origin. We do not have to "round up" every illegal, nor do we need to go after every business, just a certain number in all the major industries that employ illegals - fast food, construction, agriculture, hospitality, day labor centers, etc. - and the rest of them will get the message that they may be next. It is the FEAR of the law that keeps us all "good citizens" - if we have any moral conscience at all. Over time, most of the illegals will go home and in the meantime we can attempt to overhaul the immigration system so we can get the hardworkers we need LEGALLY and keep out the criminals and predators we do not want.
Posted by Michael on May 8, 2007 07:05 AMI laugh when I hear the illegals and their supporters say our law enforcement officers and the government are breaking the law when they deport illegals and leave the kids.
This happens all the time to Americans who break the law. If a parent or parents are citizens and break the law the go to jail and their kids are put in foster care or with relatives.
Is this another benefit the illegals think they should recieve? They break law after law and because they have children they pay no price? This has gone on long enough.
Cities need all over the country need to do what Hazelton,PA did. Pass an ordinance making it illegal to rent to or hire illegals .
The mayor of Hazelton got fed up with the illegal population costing tax payers millions of dollars. He said overnight almost 10,000 people left.Of course the ACLU is suing but alot of the illegals have left.So the ordinance worked.
JOIN!! AND HELP STOP THE INVASION!!
Posted by MER on May 8, 2007 08:11 AMFrom economics 101, reduce the demand , i.e. employers who hire illegals, and the supply will lower.
Posted by Sean on May 8, 2007 01:35 PMI went to a Cinco de Mayo party Saturday but when I got there everybody took off. I guess I misunderstood when they told me all I had to bring was the ICE.
