Larry Manzanares

Bought any used laptops lately, Brian. Any parking lot purchases?
Your sympathy is duly noted and when some kid gets jailed for a pinch of pot I expect the same response.
Posted by Sharon B. on June 30, 2007 02:25 PMI thought stealing government property was against the law. Does that include Mr. Manzanares? If not than the D.A. needs to release the woman who stole 10 million from the controllers office.Laws should be applied to all the people including public servants.
Posted by Can I get an AMEN! on June 30, 2007 05:07 PMSteno Stuckey has made it clear previously that if someone he knows or admires breaks the law they should be pardoned or let off the hook.
The guy shot himself and left his kids to fend for themselves. He's was a coward.
Posted by Charles B on June 30, 2007 06:08 PMThe I.R.S. worker had her pic all over the newspaper..
I'm sure that was humiliating for her ,friends and fam.
Well, now.I recall reading that the Jeffco DA in charge of the case said he did his job,and I believe he did.I also recall reading of a little influence-peddling done on behalf of the deceased, before he became deceased, that is,no doubt with the intent of hushing up the whole business. What I remember most is the legal/criminal justice/political community rushing,no make that stampeding, to eulogize the late Mr Manzanares,as if to reassure themselves that he and they were just the greatest, most competent, professional, compassionate guys in the world, just brimming with rectitude. They're all,all honorable men.
Posted by Jimminy on June 30, 2007 09:34 PMJimminy, you make crickets everywhere proud. A tip of the top hat to you for putting it all in one letter, why most of us don`t really care what he did. He didn`t need to do it.
Posted by Sharon B. on July 1, 2007 06:22 AMOnce upon a time, it used to be that we had a principle: Innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
Today's rules: Go on TV, and hold press conferences for the rest of the media; proclaim the UNPROVED - even as yet UN-TRIED - guilt of the accused as if it were time for sentencing; add in a smear of something totally irrelevant - such as the possibility of some kind of "sexual misconduct" - and smirkingly go on, all the way to the next chosen political office.
Hercules was given the task of cleaning out the Augean stables. I'd be willing to give long odds he wouldn't even attempt to deal with the cesspool of today's lawyer trade.
Posted by Old Grouch on July 1, 2007 07:16 AMWho are these Manzanares was a "great guy" supporters trying to convince? The public or themselves?
Posted by A on July 1, 2007 08:25 AMA,
Who is in need of "convincing"?
Those who are so perfect that they can proclaim that they alone are good; have never made a mistake - not even one that others may claim they have made - and therefore can pass judgment on others from nothing more than what they read, or hear, in the media?
Those who knew the man, and who are expressing their feelings of love, admiration, and friendship?
To what part of "the public" do you refer?
Posted by Old Grouch on July 2, 2007 07:59 AMBrian Stuckey writes, " The passing of Lawrence Manzanares is a sad chapter in Denver History. "
No it's not.
