Larry O’Neill of Lochbuie writes:

Is Talk Radio running the country? YES but only because newspapers have turned to whatever sells papers. In my eyes newspapers have become slanted in there views of the news they report.
I myself have made numerous submissions that differ with the road the papers seem to be traveling down. Yet on talk radio my opinion for or against is aired shortly after calling. I can also here the opinion of the listening audience which is not owing to an editor. I personally have great respect for someone that provides a outlet for free speech and for some reason is actually dealing with current events that haven’t been dropped from view because some subscribers may not like reading the truth of the issue. One last point America was structured on free speech, and government by the people, if the people don’t like slanted, twisted up, big business leaning reporting of the news, they have the right to protect their freedom in any manor they choose. Politicians must not like finding out that the majority of the peoples view is different from the views of the wealthy and big business that bought them into office.

You are easier to understand on the radio. You make good points but lose then in style and content.

"Politicians must not like finding out that the majority of the peoples view is different from the views of the wealthy and big business that bought them into office."

If money is a concern, why don't you support changing the campaign finance laws. As they stand right now they are useless. Though the courts have ruled that both contributions are free speech, but limits can also be implemented. The current limits are useless. They limit how much Individual donors can spend. This does nothing to get money out of politics, as it simply means more time is spent fundraising as opposed to talking to people about their concerns. The only way to get money out of politics would be to have a restriction (might require a constitutional amendment) on how much money could be raised and spent. This would apply to self-financed (so-called Millionaires Amendment) campaigns as well. This will never happen because the rich want to spend as much money as possible.

It costs of millions of dollars to run for national office. If you don't have vast amounts of personal wealth officeholders must raise it. I

Politicians balance their personal views with those of their constituency. If they did nothing but their constituency they would end up like Hillary Clinton and would be accused of having not "standing for anything." If politicians never concerned themselves with their constituency they would be out of touch.

The democrats are scared of talk radio, because many liberal talk radio shows have gone off the air because people where tired of hearing their outrageous conspiracy theories.

If a cow was found dead in a field,it was George Bush's fault.
If lightning struck a forest and started a fire it was done under the secrecy of Dick Cheney and his staff.
If a dog got run over it was the governments fault because PETA said so.

My point is this. More and more Americans are tired of all of our government. The latest garbage they tried to sell to the American people was the Amnesty, oops I mean the immigration reform bill down our throats.

The democrats didn't like the fact that a grass roots effort was started by people talking. The only place they can be heard? Is talk radio. Talk radio gives us the information of both sides and lets us decide and openly debate between each other.

The Democrats hated that talk radio was instrumental in getting people to call and e-mail their elected leaders to stop the Amnesty bill. The majority did not want amnesty and we want the border closed NOW!!

Where else can Americans express their opinions in an open forum?

The news outlets and news mediums are left slanted.People in the middle or right do not have another place to express their views. For some reason newspapers and news people on TV think they are speaking for us , they think way too highly of themselves.

Poor little Democrats didn't get their Amnesty Bill passed and now are blaming talk radio instead of listening to what the people, the citizens of the United States Of America wanted.

Don't stop the phone calls and e-mails. Keep up the pressure to enforce our border and ebforce the laws on the books , right now.

SHould the fairness doctrine ever be brought back, imagine the logical thought process that will be in place. When asked about who they think ios a conservative, Pelosi, Kicich , Kennedy, and others reply. Why N.P.R. is very conservative and Juan Williams is what we feel a conservative should be.

Juan Williams is often brought on talevision to be a LIBERAL analysis. This is what the Fairness Doctrine will mandate. Amcomplete left of center thinking.

As a Truman democrate I find it all very offensive and long for the days when news was reported as events, not as a political and societal event.

I absolutely agree with the letter writer that talk radio is ruining America. Every day they spout the same old tired.....oh wait a minute.....what?...I see.

Sorry , thought she said "Ruining" not running. My bad.

The Dems want to bring back the fairness doctrine. Their next BIG push ( they influence most of the media) against free speech is talk radio. No one wants to hear their leftie trash talk (Air America)so they decide to try and supress talk radio. Such good Americans!

When all argument is reduced to the level of pointing fingers of blame at each other, the left and the right expose themselves as incompetent to rule because they are blinded by there own opinions to the point that they can't even define what the problem is, never mind offer a solution to it.

dmz' I listened to Rush about 5 years ago for about 5 minutes. That's all I could stand.I don't like him and don't think he represents what my thoughts are.

Actually I'm surprised he's still on the radio.

Posted by Can I get an AMEN! on July 1, 2007 09:13 AM

Hey, Allen Campbell, what a beutifully expressed letter. Both sides are against
tolerance and acceptance of differing views.
We see no solutions from Congress or the White House - only hate for the other party.
I can't even imagine anything of importance being accomplished as both sides will not compromise or even open frank and earnest dialogue. It is time for a third party that represnts the people and not business interests only.

You mean poor little Republics. Bush was pushing very hard this to get the bill passed.

Posted by conservative[ly dominated] media on July 1, 2007 10:43 AM

Thanks JC, I just knew there would be someone who is not blinded by either party's line and also sees they have at least one thing in common. The totally unexceptable idea that progress, in anything, can be achieved by blaming the opposition party
for everything that goes wrong while at the same time claiming rights for everything that pans out right. I agree it is time for a third party but, in my view the various ones that are out there can't unite so to have a viable chance to succeed in undoing the "powerful two" for the very same reason as those two cannot unite to get anything done.

We need a strong leader with a well defined plan who can win the trust of the people by refusing to indulge in sensationalistic politics. There is a way to do that and it is not through the smoke and mirrors agenda that insures deniability of any wrong doing that is the present hallmark of political success.

I don't have a phone; however, if you have a phone and desire to call the Great One, (Mark Laveen) call only if you agree with him otherwise you are a moron, an idiot, a Hilliary Rotten Clinton, an Arnold Jerkalator, and a lot more if you utter one word with which he disagrees by immediately hanging up. Conservative talk-radio is 1000 hours to one liberal hour.

Deicide Corner: Religion stops a thinking mind. Once the tyrant on the pulpit starts talking, the laity stops thinking.

Ms.Amen said ” The democrats are scared of talk radio, because many liberal talk radio shows have gone off the air because people where tired of hearing their outrageous conspiracy theories.”

They are indeed scared, that’s because the format and medium is better suited to concision and the articulation of received wisdom than it is to the expression of anything new.
It is easy to wrap traditional ideas into sound-bites, and it is easy to take simplistic and cut-down representations of reality, and put those into emotionally appealing parcels.

Not so easy to explain over talk radio why something is more complicated than it seems, or why traditional views of something are wrong, and almost impossible to deliver a completely new idea.

Conservative views, which are by nature traditional and well rehearsed thoughts, are easily and effectively delivered via talk-radio.
Progressive and Liberal ideas are not.

And I see it goes on an on in spite of the fact that it is only rational thought and sane consider thoughts that the PAY ATTENTION TO THE POINT IMPORTANT that can solve the problem rather the repeating the tired old point about how it is somebodys elses fault other than your own. Wake up man, it's all of our faults, first for obfuscating the issues with polictically agenda points and, secondly for refusing to admit that there is any other point than yours worthy of consideration

For years our elected officials have been hiding in their Ivory towers and making laws pandering to their special interest groups. They enjoyed treating the general public like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed b......t. The majority of the printed media, fell right in step with them, because they were one of the special interest groups.Talk shows changed that, and our politicians are not happy.

A politicians greatest fear is a truly well informed public, Without talk shows this amnesty bill would have been passed and we would have to live with a 1986 sequel.

Maybe the politicians should go back and reread the 1st amendment, the one about "Freedom of speech". As much as the failed Amnesty bill irritated them, the sheer idea that we may know about any new laws they might be trying to sneak through, has them shaking in their boots.

I see your brain has been thoroughly washed.

Bango Shank is a good example of a liberal. He says that "Progressive and Liberal ideas are not easy or effective to deliver on talk radio". That is because Liberal ideas do not stand up to debate. On talk radio liberal ideas can be countered in minutes and not be allowed to become conventional wisdom. In newspapers the liberals control the flow of information and promote their views.Talk radio welcomes the liberals to call in because they make fools of themselves and are so easy to counter.I myself have been on talk radio thousands of times. The liberal media was lying about the gun issue when they pushed the Assault Weapon Ban.So I started calling talk radio in California to get the truth out about these guns. When I called CBS in LA and told them they were not telling the truth about these firearms they said they would lie if they wanted to.Talk radio gave me the freedom to communicate with the public and bypass the lying liberal media.Talk radio is the best example of freedom of speech we have in the US today. The reason the LIBERALS want to kill it is so they can go back to the days of lying to and misleading the public.
