A DIFFERING VIEW: Senators have squandered many opportunities
The July 13 Rocky Mountain News editorial “The senators’ chance” concerning Sens. Wayne Allard and Ken Salazar is far too kind. Neither has represented the state in a useful or competent manner.
They failed to achieve passage of immigration legislation, health care reform or any other legislation that would benefit the citizens of the state or the country.
One could also challenge their inability to adequately protect our national forests, parks and wildlife. In fact, the only serious business they seemed to have managed to do in the past term is to ignore the almost unanimous wishes of the people impacted by the Lookout Mountain towers and to sell their souls — for what? — to the broadcast interests.
Oh, yes I forgot their stances on the Iraq war. The plague is already on our houses. Let it descend on theirs.
Henry B. Ledyard is a resident of Evergreen.
Its a good thng Henry does not represent Evergreen. His views of typical liberals " I WANT, I NEED, DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO" , prevail in his little rant.
He is correct in the fact the Senators do not have a clear defined record of service in Washington. However Allards record is much better then Salzar. The shamnesty bill that was attempted to be thrust down our throats was simpley bad. The support for redistribution of wealth to pay others bills is not a good policy either when it comes to health care.
However his misleading words on the Lookout Mountain issue is a joke. The towers have been there longer then 70% of those living there now. Henries denial of broadcasting all in the name of eye sore is facist. Nationally it is mandated that all broadcast in television will be HD by 2009. Henry does not want Denver and surrounding areas to have this.
I wonder how long Henry has lived in Evergreen. I have been here over 40 years but didnt object to his home being built, or that he move here. Maybe I should have protested his ruining of the pristine mountain area with his pressence.
Posted by on July 24, 2007 04:54 AMThe letter writer is correct that both Senators have failed to represent our interests.
Allard has been nothing more than a rubber stamp for Bush and pseudo-conservatism. He's a tool and I'm overjoyed that he's quitting.
Salazar has been nothing but a corporate hand-puppet trying to balance subservience to his corporate masters with the necessary pretense that he's got his constituent's interests at heart- another total failure.

This was hardly an "achievement".
Posted by Secure our Borders Now! on July 24, 2007 07:35 AMIt is time to IMPEACH CONGRESS!!! They have the power to secure our borders it is in the US CONSTITUTION; of course the only thing in the US CONSTITUTION that congress believes is true is the part that says they can be paid. However; Article 1, Section 8, Paragraph 15, states that Congress have the power:
To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions.
Now of course Congress does not consider this an invasion......but only that these illegals are only trying to improve their lifestyles...
However, if you do consdier this an invasion, and not that these illegals are only trying to improve their lifestyles....
Well, then my I suggest that if you are trying to improve you lifestyle, go and find out where your US Congressmen live and move into their homes, spend their money, dirve their cars, eat their food, use their credit cards and when they have you arrested for breaking and entering, then sue your congress people for not allowing you to better your lifestyle.

The Congress is not going to impeach itself. You want 'em out,
vote 'em out. They cannot impeach the president either, because they don't have the time or the votes needed.
Oh yes, you forgot to mention their publicly funded socialist healthcare program (including hairdos) which many of them refuse to allow their own constituents to have access to. Can we call that hypocrisy?
