A new precedent
I am thrilled that those folks in Cambridge Park can fly the American flag upside-down (“No penalty in flag flap,” July 14).
They have established the precedent that I no longer have to show any sensitivity to the sensitivities of my fellow condo owners!
Now, I am free to put a 15-by-30 foot portrait of George W. Bush saluting the American flag on the outer wall of my condominium!
This is a great day for us all and for my freedom of speech.

Funny how jimd4x4 advocates free speech in other threads, but in this one??? Oh, it's only those that agree with jim that can speak freely. Delmar, please don't press the intolerance of the left. History shows they very nasty. Besides, such an act would be visually horrifying. Why not a quid pro quo? Hang the Mexican flag upside down and see the response.

Explain to me where jimd4x4 said that he was against free speech. All he did was warn Delmar about potential vomit in his yard, and he was merely voicing his opinion about Bush. He never said Delmar couldn't put the picture up (unlike what many said about the upside down flag). I guess reading comprehension isn't a strong suit of yours or the neo-con right. It appears ipso-facto spin, however, is a strong point among you and your ilk.

How dare people to have so much courage of their convictions that they are willing to upset others who disagree with them. After all, doesn't it say something in the constitution about having the right of free speech but only so long as we don't upset anyone? And when we have a wonderful shepherd like Bush, shouldn't we all just act like good little sheep? Shouldn't we just be obedient about following him over the cliff?
But would it be OK with you if people just whispered to their close friends that they didn't like the way Bush has created a monumental disaster for our nation?

If your HOA allows flags, they have to allow then upside down. But if they don`t allow pictures painted on the side of your house, you are in for a double hurdle. First you have to find a reason to have any picture on your house. Then fight the political battle.
