Enough about Churchill
Ward Churchill has the right to express his opinions to any group that will have him, but there is no obligation to pay him for those opinions.
Universities must allow latitude but are not required to endure incompetence and fraud.
Enough said about this fool.

Congratulations on being one of the first to admit that the whole affair was a "witch hunt", right from the start.
Posted by Old Grouch on July 27, 2007 09:03 AMOG: It may have been a witch hunt; but, they did bag a trophy witch! As someone posted yesterday, WC should have verified that he didn't have any skeletons in his own closet before he rattled the bones of others.
He called attention to himself and invited public scrutiny of his ideals based on his free speech. As a result of that scrutiny he encouraged, his plagiarism and fabrication of scholarly work were discovered.
It's like the old adage of people living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...
Posted by Trinity on July 27, 2007 09:32 AMask .com dictionary.com and I typed in witchhunt: I could not find any correlation between witchhunt, the subject matter of the letter and Old Grouch.
Just like so many opined on "Redneck" perhaps I will be enlightened on witchhunt which alludes to the Salem 19 hung as witches or the New York Blacks in the rebellion hanged, burned, deported.
On the subject matter: Ward should be content with the wages his deception generated along with his enormous pension compared with my SS.
Dennis Sabell is not on a witchhunt in suggesting Ward is incompetent, a fraud, and a fool, is he?
Show me your underwear, Mitt Romney: Now, there you can find a witchhunt: Just a jest folks. I'll spare you the Deicide Corner.
How about witch hunt (witchhunt)?
Is participation in a witch hunt an admission that you wish to blame someone else for your sins?

What's happened to Ward Churchill is called "Karma" the man was out if anything to make a name himself and didn't care who he angered in the process.

Posted by Heather Neil on July 27, 2007 11:20 AMTrinity,
Remember the old joke: "If you steal from one it's plagiarism. If you steal from several - or many - it's scholarship"?
Anyone want to consider that "scholarship" is exactly the offense that Churchill "committed"; and that it is "scholarship" for which good old U of Cowlorado fired him?
Posted by Old Grouch on July 27, 2007 12:08 PMI'm familiar with the old joke you have referred to many times throughout these posts: re if you steal from one.. However, WC has been found to have copied almost verbatim a work published by another. Additionally, it has been determined that he ghosted articles on subjects (i.e., the army providing disease ridden blankets to the Indians) and then citied those articles as independent substantiation of his thesis.
WC went far beyond the pale when attempting to allow him latitude for weak or incorrect attribution.
