Front page appalling
Saturday, July 7 at 12:01 AM

The July 1 front-page Sunday Denver Post article regarding sex changes was appalling! An individual’s lifestyle is his or her choice, but my family should not be subjected to this behavior on the front page of the Sunday newspaper.
It was a poor choice, especially on a day when families sit down to read the paper together. Despicable! I will be deciding soon whether or not to renew our subscription. Increased rates and decreased morality are an equation for cancellation.
Hopefully the Sunday Denver Post will make better choices in the future or it will lose more readers at a time when it can’t afford to do so.

Sex changes are immoral? What?

Posted by Kyle on July 7, 2007 06:10 AM

The fact that the Rocky needs a change in editors is clear. When there are so many other news worthy stories out there they feel compelled to cator to one social group time and time again. It only demionstrates that the Rocky is biased.

Sex changes immoal? Perhaps, buyt then again perhaps not. Bad judgment as a page one cover story? YES!

The Rocky Mountain News over the last year or two has made a clear editorial decision to be a police blotter and sensationalist entertainment rag. It's only redeeming quality is that the sports section still gives me comfort while I do my morning business.

The internet has basically replaced the newspaper as an information source for news-geeks, but I don't quite feel comfortable with my laptop sitting on my knees during morning rituals..

Now the Rocky is equal with the New York Times, aother entertainment rag.

not here:

Equating the RMN with the NYTimes. Get a grip. The only similarity is their equally conservative slant. The NY Post, now that's an entertainment rag like the RMN.

Well, unlike the super market rags, this is the real world we live in.

Some people need a sex change operation to live happier lives. Some need a cleft palate fixed or a nose job or other surgery to correct problems.

Imagine a child seeing this and finding out that there is hope for them, despite what their families say.

This is the real fear:someones kids will get the help and understanding they need even if the parents preach is as a sin to change genders.

The earth and it's people are in bad shape and THIS world shaking event hits the front page? Give me a break ! I will not be renewing my subscription if this is what you call journalism.

Mr. Rheaume

What would you do if your child came to you and made the announcement that he or she was gay, let alone mention that they felt they were the wrong gender?

Conservative media asks a novel question and if I, having sired five from my loins much like David sires Jesus Christ from his loins, would answer: Irrespective of the cost, I'll pay.

Yes the RMN should stick to more uplifting pictures on their front page such as the aftermath of a terrorist bombing, children covered in blood after their parents are shot, soldiers engaged in a firefight, etc. Please leave any reference of sex out since it is harmful to the morality of our young.

To equate the story of sex change operations to earth shattering, hope renewed, saving the life of a child is ABSURD. There is a section called health in the paper that this articale could and should have lead. But to put it on page one is not so.
The fact many feel this to be insulting and inmoral (more then half the population) proves this. However in the articals defense, by placeing it on the cover as lead artical in the health section would be ok.
The fact someone who makes a decision to change their sex and runs off to trinadad to have it done does not compare to say the collapse of a floor injuring what 13 workers.

Then to come out of left field and ask if your child came to you and said they wanted this operation. Well if you want to pay for it thats your choice. I on the other hand would seek out mental help for the child first.

I've read that amongst four people, one needs mental help, or more accurately, clinical help.

Deicide Corner: With religious people, the synapses do not connect.

You folks have to learn to be more understanding. We need to see people on the front page that have sex with children, dead people and let's not forget people that have sex with animals. They should also be allowed to have their partners with them in the picture. We Democrats believe in diversity. What if your child came to you and said" I like to have sex with large farm animals"[as opposed to small farm animals like chickens and ducks].Would you reject your child? We Democrats would not.In fact we would welcome the corpse, if that was their preferense, in as a family member.VOTE DEMOCRAT!!!!

There are some truly strange people out there and True you are one of the strangest.

True...I appreciated your humor..and even got the point. Media...are you the pot or the kettle?

The conservative mantra?

Marry and divorce as often as possible. Marraige is sacred so we need to do it more.

There is no point to "True's" post. It's completely absurd and sick.

Posted by conservative media on July 8, 2007 08:00 AM

Conservative Media.I can not believe that you said my post was"completely absurd and sick".That is the same thing the BIGOTS were saying about the people that were supporting homosexual rights 40 years ago.You are becoming the same BIGOT that you would claim you hate.In fact ,give me the reasons that my post was "completely absurd and sick'. Nobody else has said that it was sick.

I never said I hated anyone. In my opinion you comparing sex with children, corpses and animals to gay life is so far from what gay life is that it's absurd and yes sick.

Posted by conservative media on July 8, 2007 02:55 PM

Anyone who has a child that wants a sex change operation would not find the mental health professionals their allie in changing the child's mind.

A psychiatrist would help the child learn who they really are, they would not attempt to "cure the child" for the parents sake.

You can`t "mental help" a person fit your prejudices.

Posted by Sharon B. on July 8, 2007 07:14 PM

Conservative Media. Please explain why some forms of sex are "sick" and others are not.In the past it was said that "gays" were sick.It was normal in the past to have sex with 12 year old girls. In some cultures they kill wild boar and then have sex with the animal. What rule do you go by?

Posted by True on July 9, 2007 11:11 AM

"We need to see people on the front page that have sex with children..."

Done, Catholic priests have been featured.

"...dead people..."

Geore W. Bush and his zombie wife

"...and let's not forget people that have sex with animals."

If two blubbery Republican swine going at it isn't bestiality, I don't know what is.

Posted by UYRMN on July 9, 2007 12:05 PM

True

One again. I did not say certain forms of sex are sick, nor did I say I hated anyone. I said your comparing sex with corpses, children and animals to gay life is sick. Why is that so hard to understand??
