Listen to your true readers
Every day in every way, the Rocky Mountain News is getting smaller and smaller. Soon it will just fade away into ... what? Cyberspace?
Dusty Saunders, Robert Denerstein, Linda McConnell. Who will take the place of these talented, experienced people? Honest-to-God newspaper people or 20-year-old computer geeks?
Please stop tinkering and just put out a newspaper! The alleged readers you appear to be catering to wouldn’t subscribe to a newspaper if John Temple came to their houses and read it aloud to them every morning.
Show some respect for your loyal, longtime subscribers. It would be nice if you catered to us for a change.
You’ve heard the litany of complaints from your true readers.Stop assuming we’re all going to die soon and our opinions don’t matter. I’m in my early 50s and it’s possible that I could be a subscriber for another 50 years.

People without money are always telling people with money how they should spend it. I'm a happy Rocky subscriber so don't include me in your pronoun, "us" and don't use a pronoun unless you have a rat in your pocket or a tapeworm. No disprespect intended. I just don't like being included in your denouncing.

Posted by Richard Grimes, deicide r22037@yahoo.com (ffrf.org and ask for copy of Freethought Today on July 28, 2007 12:37 PMPrint newspapers are a dying breed which will continue their shrinking tendencies. However, the Rocky and Post are also victims of their own corporate desire to maximize profits. The Denver Newspaper Agency (controls the business operations of both dailies - owned jointly by the publishers) is constantly finding ways to save a nickel or dime -- i.e., the loss of decent TV scheduling.
Like most corporations these days, everything is geared towards maximizing the bottom line. The RMN and Post will continue to scrimp for those pennies until they realize they have hit a point where they are losing more revenue by cutting features than they are saving through such cuts.
Newspapers make their money primarily through advertising revenue. If their readership continues to shrink due to dissatisfaction in their finished product their advertising revenues will decline both in volume (advertisers cut back due to a smaller audience being reached) and, in the rate they can charge per column inch (smaller audience commands a smaller expenditure by advertisers).
The opinions of the readers are secondary to their pursuit of a higher bottom line. Meanwhile, enjoy what you do get on a daily basis before they disappear into history as electronic media continues to advance.

Thank you RU Serious and Michael: Henceforth I will seek your sagacity before I enter veracity and will take Truth's medication (the guy who thinks his Truth is under copywrite protection). For now let me post an innocuous comment to be repeated elsewhere so all will enjoy Susan's vocal:
www.ffrf.org/radio ~~~~ Click on July 21, Brian Flemming ~~~~ interview. During all my epistles I listened to the brand new song yet to be released: Its Only Natural. I have listened 500 times. I've memorized it and though the song is in the key of C Susan sang it in A flat and I articulate it in E flat on piano. As the late Phil who used to work for me said: "It will knock your socks off."
