National health care
NATIONAL HEALTH CARE AND M.A.S.H.
I have come to the realization that many of the younger Americans today embrace the idea of more government services, actually tending toward Socialists ideas as the solution for our present actual and perceived problems. I recognize that when we are young, we are more idealistic; however, the current crop of young people have had limited experience with government run programs and enterprises. They have had to deal with a county or state government to get their driver’s license and registration of their vehicle and perhaps limited experience in dealing with taxing agencies. Maybe they have had to deal with the bureaucracy in high school or college, but not much more exposure to government bureaucracy and inefficiency in matters that affect their lives.
Many of the males (and some unique females) of my generation have had the experience of serving in the armed forces during the Korean War, Cold War and/or Vietnam War and most of us greatly enjoy watching episodes of M. A. S. H. since the foul ups portrayed remind us of our own actual experiences. As veterans, we can relate experiences with other government run agencies to the gross inefficiencies and control we observed in the military.
Now, a group of politicians is promising to provide national healthcare for all Americans and they are supported by Michael Moore who claims that healthcare in Socialist and Communist countries is so much better than our free market system. If and when this group of politicians takes full control of our national and state governments, our young folks will get to experience the full impact of the government running a significant part of our lives and they can join us when we watch the M.A.S.H. reruns. It may or may not be a laughing matter.
This letter has not been edited.
i can tell you I wont be laughing.
Posted by on July 18, 2007 02:33 PMWe need a YOUNG famous person to go to bat for freedom of choice when it comes to medical care. Someone who is high profile and can influence the younger generation and get them to listen-up!!
With the "dumbing down" in the public school systems to accomadate the non-English speaking students, the younger generation is being led by the nose toward the socialistic agenda. They won't even know there was something better out there when they become tax paying adults. I guess that's the plan!
If National Health Care ever becomes a reality in the U.S. it will be a very sad day for future Americans.

Like those 24 year old ideologues filling the roster at our Justice Department.
Posted by Charles B on July 18, 2007 08:41 PMMaybe we should take Walt's advice and put Halliburton in charge of health care. If their contaminated water is good enough for our troops, it should be good enough for us.
And Halliburton could hire Bechtel to build the hospitals.
"The United States is dropping Bechtel, the American construction giant, from a project to build a high-tech children's hospital in the southern Iraqi city of Basra after the project fell nearly a year behind schedule and exceeded its expected cost by as much as 150 percent.
Now it becomes the latest in a series of U.S. taxpayer-financed health projects in Iraq to face overruns, delays and cancellations.
The United States will "disengage Bechtel and transfer program and project management" to the Army Corps of Engineers, the papers say."
Truth, remember "facts have a liberal bias"
Posted by Sharon B. on July 19, 2007 01:22 PMI think there are just so many people that have been Democrats for years they just don't question the radical socialism that has now become the Democrat party and blindly continue to vote Democrat not realizing they are handing the country over to the likes of socialism. Much of Europe has now woke up and are voting in more conservatives (even France) but the liberals in this country are just too wrapped up in their self righteousness to see the folly of their ways.
Posted by on July 19, 2007 01:52 PMTruth... I notice that you spout off about two companies HIRED by the government and are trying to use them to demonstrate that government run health care is the cat's meow. Does this seem strange? I mean, showing that the .gov can't even hire a contractor that can complete a project and yet, you want them managing health care?
Do you actually understand economics and the fact that incentives matter? When the .gov takes over health care, who will create new drugs or develop new strategies for curing diseases? If there is no profit motive, where will the cash come from? Who will determine what can be developed? We pay more for health care in this country as we develop drugs and things for the whole world. If you can name anything developed by the french, canadians or the british in the terms of health care, I would be impressed.
I have lived in a country with fascist health care. It has a cute little system where all the regular people wait in line for treatment, often dying, but the elites and the wealthy buy their own health care from private companies. Do you honestly think the Hildabeast will be waiting in line with the great unwashed to get an MRI? not likely. So, the socialist system sets you up in your caste, until you can buy better health care.
