President Bush
Saturday, July 21 at 2:00 PM

Cheryl D. Breeden of Fort Collins writes:

Bush has demonstrated the lack of care and concern he has for this nation and its people by his ego-driven “do or die” philosophy. Our troops are his personal sacrificial lambs and to what purpose? Do not say “for freedom". Rather, say “for futility.”

Dale, love America and what it stands for, hate Bush. Can I still live here?

Posted by Sharon B. on July 21, 2007 03:24 PM

Hey Dale, this coment is about Bush, not America, this is about a bull headed uninformed shoot first and ask questions later mentality of a cowboy president. I guess by your comment we should all just shut up and do whatever the president (any president) feels is best regardless of how many disagree.

Hey, lets talk to the terrorists right? There is only one thing terrorist know and that is force. Bush is correct on his do or die philosophy. He is better informed on the sbject than all of the posters here. That is for sure!
Go ahead, all of you, get on a plane and go talk to the terrorists and tell them to stop.
Have a nice trip!
P.S. Be sure to say farewell to your life and freedom before you go!

Here is the bottom line. The Democrat party is made up of cowards and people that hate the US.The ones that are cowards can not stand any violence and that is why they are trying to stop the war.The ones that hate the US want our enemy to win because of the old saying"my enemy's enemy is my friend".They see the terrorist as being able to avenge the great satan ,the US.This is why it is so hard to understand where they are coming from on this issue.

Posted by An American on July 21, 2007 04:54 PM

Wow, Democrats are cowards and hate the US? So about 50% of the citizens are cowards and want the terrorsists to win? These posts are beyond rediculious, Why do the Bush supporters turn to name calling if someone disagrees with them? We are financially breaking our country with this rediculious war, if we leave they will follow us home? they should do it now, all of our military is there, why wait for our military to come home. If we leave there will be mass killings? this is coming from the group that said there were WMD's, we would be treated a liberators and they would welcome us. They have been wrong about everything so why would they be right about this!!!

Posted by Michael D on July 21, 2007 05:06 PM

Michael D the Bush ass kissers resort to name calling if someone disagrees with them or Bush , because they know they are wrong and Bush is not only wrong but an idiot besides and could not tell the truth if his life depended on it.

Posted by Ron 2 on July 21, 2007 05:38 PM

People claim that Bush has no supporters. Wrong. He has Dale, Duke and "American". The problem is that he would be better off with no supporters. Sometimes you can tell how wrong a person is by the quality of his supporters.

Posted by Truth on July 21, 2007 05:57 PM

Hey, I struck a nerve with Truth,Ron2 and Michael D.The reason is they know I am right. This issue is not complicated.Democrats do not care about the military or spending government money but they trying to say they do.We can see through them. Also they claim that they do not want the soldiers to fight. These guys volunteer to fight. What happened to the great principal of freedom of choice that these Democrats believe in.Come on guys, tell us are you cowards or US haters. We won't laugh.

Slow down when you post so that you get in all the words. Also hit the space bar a few times.

Read your post out loud and it sounds like a three year old yelling I am right I am right.

Quite a few of our troops joined the National Guard, not exactly signed up to be Marines.

If Democrats are such cowards then why are so many of the Republicans in power or positions of influence not ex-military. Cheney, scooter Libby, and on and on and on.

A well know Republican military man you may have heard of by the name of Colin Powell says he tried for hours to talk Bush out of this war. What a coward Powell must be in your opinion.

I don`t hate the U.S. (please post that correctly) I hate, despise, loath, detest, abhor Bush/Cheney.

Laughing?

Posted by Sharon B. on July 21, 2007 06:53 PM

Sharon B you are correct. The person who calls him/her self An American is a true idiot. This is discernable by the fact the he/she believes everything Bush and his cohorts spew out of their mouths or elsewhere. Those who volunteered to fight did so with the intent of definding this nation, not fighting a private war for Bush & CO. THey are not, I rfepeat NOT fighting for our freedoms in Iraq, nor are they fighting to protect or defend this nation.

Posted by Sharon B. on July 21, 2007 08:29 PM

What a bunch of transparent liars.

"We support the troops but not the mission !"

Is like saying,

"we support the police , as long as they don't arrest criminals !"

"we support the firemen , as long as they don't put out fires !"

"we support the doctors, as long as they don't heal people !"

Anyone who has been closely watching knows the Dems have clearly chosen sides. They have put political aspirations ahead of their own country.
Truly disgusting.

Posted by Get Real on July 21, 2007 08:38 PM

Get Real, interesting analogies but they don`t mean much.

Police, fireman and doctors have specific duties and should always be about doing them.

Our poor troops are fighting, defending one side in a civil war one day an the other side the next.

They are also trying to win the "hearts and minds" Bushes own words, while being shot at in a city setting and dodging car bombs meant for Iraqis.

You would be all bent out of shape if our policemen went to Rwanda to fight one side in a religious war, or our firefighters were in Saudi Arabia putting out terrorists fires while ones burned out of control here.

I could go on with this silly analogy business of yours, but I don`t want to make you look bad.

Our soldiers have specific duties and, withstanding you dems, are trying to go about those. My point is you can't realistically support the troops without supporting their mission, but then. you knew that didn't you? BTW, all our soldiers volunteered and knew the risks involved. Also,re-enlistment rates are at an all time high.

Jonny Vegas-

Boy,

maybe you could tell us all about your masters degree from an Ivy League school and how you were a Governor and a President.

While you're at it, explain again how you can fly a fighter jet solo.

What was that , I couldn't hear you.

Posted by Get Real on July 21, 2007 10:35 PM

Bush supporters should put their money where their mouth is by signing up to fight his war. The military, I'm sure would be glad to have you leading the charge. Our international reputation is completely ruined. Do we care what other countries think of us, you danm right we do. The people of this country are much safer if we are considered part of the world community, not a bully trying to inflict our idelogy on everyone else.
Bush has made this county a very dangerous place to live. Will we be attacked again, most probably, because of this administrations policies worldwide. Bush was looking for a nose to lay one on, for a long time and he couldn't attack his friends in Saudi Arabia, the real perps of 9-11 so he picked a country that wouldn't make a deal with his american oil buddies and went after Iraq. He has also destroyed any civil conversations republicans and democrats may have been able to have about governing this country. Shame on him. I always thought that Nixon brought a great deal of conflict and sadness to this great nation, Bush has pushed this country to a new low. For those of you who support this mad man, I pity your blindness. For all our sakes, impeach Bush.

You know, money can buy a alot in life...station, position and status...but it can't buy intelligence and skill...

however, you're right...bush has done all of those things...he just hasn't done any of them very well (and that's being generous)

Posted by jonny vegas on July 22, 2007 05:45 AM

Hey "The Duke",

We don't have to "talk to the terrorists".

Our president is already doing that.

That's why Osama bin Laden has never been caught and brought to justice.

It's incredibily ludicrous and suspect that almost six years after 9/11, the man behind it is still free.

The reason that bin Laden hasn't been caught is because Bush stopped looking for him...if he ever was.

Posted by Thomas on July 22, 2007 06:39 AM

Get Real asserted:

"...you can't realistically support the troops without supporting their mission..."

Please explain how disagreeing with the policy of their civilian leadership is mutually exclusive with supporting the troops. Just saying it doesn't make it true.

First, consider how the troops themselves feel:

" Only 35 percent of the military members polled this year said they approve of the way President Bush is handling the war, while 42 percent said they disapproved. The president’s approval rating among the military is only slight ly higher than for the population as a whole. In 2004, when his popularity peaked, 63 percent of the military approved of Bush’s handling of the war. While approval of the president’s war leadership has slumped, his overall approval remains high among the military.

Just as telling, in this year’s poll only 41 percent of the military said the U.S. should have gone to war in Iraq in the first place, down from 65 percent in 2003. That closely reflects the beliefs of the general population today — 45 percent agreed in a recent USA Today/Gallup poll."

Get Real you don't speak for anyone but yourself. We all get that you gambled on Bush and now lie prostrate before the King, but the military and the American People stand strongly against the stupidity that is Bush's foreign policy. Unquestioning obedience is not good citizenship.

Time to swallow your pride and quit riding that dead horse.

"hit the space bar" or "read your posting" or "you sound like a three year old" or"why are so many Republicans not ex military".Look at Ron 2s postings"the soldiers signed up to defend our country not fight a private war for Bush&CO".BGs posting is nothing but the rantings of a coward.Everything these Democrat cowards have written more that proves my point. If the postings do not sound like cowards they do show these people hate this country. The reason these people hate Bush and his administration so much is because he stands for the US and our traditional values. This is what these people hate. The US itself and that is what Bush stands for.Come on,guys and girls tell us which are you Democrat cowards or US haters.I think your postings have given us a hint.

An American:

You Sir don't know the Americans I know and, you have no right to assume you know what all Americans should think. It is indicative of zealots to not considered anything that does not support their personal beliefs. If you were truly an American your efforts would be about what is best for America, not blindly defending those in power and control.

Democracy exists because true Americans question the actions of those they elect to represent them. This is only fitting and proper if freedom, Liberty and justice are to survive as the founding principles of this country.

Zealousness and unquestioned belief in power is the bane of democracy in that it blinds one to the wrong actions of those in power. It is always best to apply critical thinking to the agendas of those in power. That is the only way people have of determing the truth of that agenda and the validity of the ensuing consequences it results in. Try reasonable, considered thinking and try to employ that in your writting if you want to have people consider your opinions.

Posted by Allen Campbell on July 22, 2007 09:10 AM

The comments by "An American" and others who blindly suppport Bush and his policies are about as un-American as anything can be. They are all about supporting a political party and idology, not supporting what is best for the country. Their thinking is if you disagree, move. How sad and ignorant. This is as bad as saying if you truly support the war, join the military and go fight. They don't even know or realize that when people enlist, they do so to defend this nation not to fight in some ungodly war in Iraq that was started by an imbecile in the White House who has no clue what he is doing anymore than when he atttempted to be a business man and bankrupted all the companies he founded in Texas.

Posted by The True American on July 22, 2007 09:23 AM

The irony of his calling a majority of Americans "America haters" is no-doubt lost on Un American...err I mean An American.

Posted by Charles B on July 22, 2007 10:10 AM

Can someone offer An American a ride to the nearest induction center? Maybe An American is too modest to let us know how much he has arranged to have deducted from his paychecks to help financially support this war he believes so devoutly in.

A real coward is someone who goes around calling other people cowards to deflect from his own lack of involvement in a conflict.

Democrats don't care about spending government money (says An A. in his/her 6:29 post)? That's a new one: usually Democrats are accused by Republicans--who we all know absolutely love to spend government money--of just the opposite. It is true, however, that Democrats by and large would rather not spend government money on ill-conceived and ill-considered wars; there are so many better uses for the money right here at home.

Touche, Jonny Vegas.

Now, where's James Jones to defend An A.? Maybe James Jones is An A.!

"Democracy exists because true Americans question the actions of those they elect to represent them".

Could you tell me why you haven't questioned the Dems on why they didn't deny funds for the war a couple of months ago. You seem intend on questioning and opposing the current administration's intentions, why not the Dems? They could have ended the war by a simple majority vote, but choose not to.

Would it be safe to assume you only wish to question the intentions of the party you oppose and not the one you support.

"It is always best to apply critical thinking to the agendas of those in power. That is the only way people have of determine the truth of that agenda and the validity of the ensuing consequences it results in".

What was the Dem's agenda for continuing the funding of this war?

What are you so angry about? If you choose George Bush as your hero then live with the consequences of his actions. This country needs to start looking at how we will repair our reputation and dialog with the rest of the world after Bush has left office. Will we have enemies after Bush, you bet, unfortunatley, many more than we had before Bush took office. I was a registered republican who has had enough of a bad president, I am now an independent. This man does not represent traditional American values. You obviously, vote for the "party" not the person.
Incidently, there is noting cowardly about dissent, it often takes great courage. If you want to read about some people who diagreed with their govt leaders, read the bios of Ben Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson......cowards huh?

Posted by on July 22, 2007 11:36 AM

To the posting above. The reason the Democrats did not vote to defund the war is because of the coward wing of the party. There is a conflict between the coward wing and the pro-terrorist[US haters] wing of the party. The coward part won this battle.Look at the postings of the Democrat cowards and US haters above. You can tell they fit what I am saying. No matter how they dress it up it showes.Everything they say is to try the deflect the truth.I can see right through these folks.I think the reason some of them hate so much is because they will not deal with being cowards.I am here to help them.

To An (un)American---You do exactly as all those of your ilk. That is resort to name calling when you know you are wrong. When you refer to "cowards", you are in essense referring to yourself and those like you because you do not have the cajones to speak out about what your fuhrer is doing to this country. You know I am right but can't admit it. Also when frustration gets to you it shows in your comments. For example look at the wording of your posting at 11:44am.

As far as hitting on the truth as you referred to in your comments posted at 7:01am, it must be noted that you have not stated anything truthful yet and I am certain you do not know the truth. Give it up MORON you lost this argument long ago and lack the integrity to admit to that fact.

Posted by The True American on July 22, 2007 12:30 PM

An American, Just exactly what is our troops mission in Iraq this week? How does that differ from what it was, say a year ago?

I find this mission definition to be at the heart of the Repub/ Demo debate as we see the mission as shifting from month to month. Dick Morris has stated that Bushes policy suffers from "mission creep" .

do you agree with Mr. Morris, a Republican?, at least he is at the moment.

The man who admitted that Democrats are cowards was being satiric just to make a point, he should apologize for confusing you.

By your reasoning, if Dems are cowards and want to bring the troops home, then you as a brave Republican American want to keep them in Iraq. That right?

So if you and the brave Republicans here safely at home have your way, say for another 6 months or so, at the current death rate of 50 of our troops getting killed per month then will you personally write letters of condolence to the families who have lost sons or daughters?

As a brave Republican American, if it is your personal bravery and that of your fellow Republicans they have kept our troops in harms way longer then necessary, what is your responsibility to them?

Posted by Sharon B. on July 22, 2007 12:54 PM

An American? and the unnamed person who doesn't have the guts to sign his name.

Once again you get it all wrong, An American, with your spewing of name calling you make it very clear you are not reasonable nor considerate nor able to wite anything that even comes close to being understandable or respected.

Who ever you are, First; Did you fail to notice I did not mention any political party. That's because I accuse them all of deception; Secondly, it is an insult to ask about what was not written or even alluded to by offering a contrived hypothetical question.

Thirdly, it is folly to try to answer an unanswerable question, which is almost always what politicians questions are, and why in the hell should I care what any party's agenda is?, they change in the wink of an eye depending on the political expediency of the times and conditional requirements for insuring they can never be held responsible for anything that may go wrong.

Posted by Allen Campbell on July 22, 2007 01:19 PM

To the American:
There are a couple of things you need to do before voicing your opinion:
1. Go to high school and take a class in civics. Learn about how the US govt should work when competent people are in charge.
2. While your there, take a debate class. You will learn that you cannot change peoples minds by being a bully. It's just bad form and will never work.
3. Admit that Bush/Cheney et al lied about wdm's and now are trying to save face by not pulling out of Iraq.
4. Finally, take an anger management class dude, you need to chill out.

Posted by BG on July 22, 2007 03:17 PM

To "Un American":
If Bush went on TV during his State of the Union address and said to the American people that the surest way to stop terrorists and protect this country was for you to lick the butt of a rabid cheetah, would you do it?

After all, our Commander-in-Chief would be giving you a directive, one that makes just about as much sense in stopping terrorism as the Iraq conflict does (as the recent report on Al Qaeda's potency demonstrates). And would I be allowed to call you a coward if you didn't lick the butt of a rabid cheetah?

As a REAL American, your duty should be to call out your leadership when their leadership is flawed, something just as important as voting and paying your taxes. And regardless of Bush's resume, we have far more qualified people, including retired and still-active military commanders, who have publicly stated that the Iraq conflagration was mishandled by this rather inept administration.

Calling your leadership out, and expecting better of them, demonstrates TRUE patriotism, and TRUE concern for the direction of this nation that every single poster here loves and holds dear. You, "Un American", are a sham, a fraud, and an embarrassment to this great nation of ours.

Michael D,

Unfortunately, sir, it's not "funny" at all. In matter of fact, the poster, "AnAmerican", is an architypical representative of, and spokes-person for, the Republican Party, and the "conservatives" who are its core.

His postings may not exhibit the heights of literacy; but, they definitely contain the real feelings of "conservatives/conservatism", with regard to any and all oppostion and/or dissent.

And, nasty and ugly as they may be in their presentation, nevertheless they need to be taken seriously for what they are, as well as for what they represent.

Posted by Old Grouch on July 23, 2007 11:12 AM

We can see by all the Democrat postings that I am right. They talk about me being angry. My postings have no anger in them.Their postings are full of anger. They say I am name calling but that is because the name coward fits the Democrat party and what it stands for.None of them have even looked up the word coward in the dictionary. There are many issues the Democrats support that show they are cowards or US haters. These are the reasons these Democrat postings are full of hate because they know I am right. One Democrat said that I will not win people to my side by calling them cowards.I am not trying to win people to my side .I am just telling the truth on this issue.
