Scooter Libby
How can the Republicans justify this pardon because of what Clinton did? Does that mean Bush can have a free affair with an intern and it doesn’t count? It counts, W., no matter which president does it.
This letter has not been edited.
I do not justify this with what Clinton did. I justify the commuting as wrong. It should have never been in court. It was a political prosecution, and witch hunt lead by democrats in another attempt to try and make the current administration look bad (as if they need help). There was no crime committed by Libby and everyone knows that.
The real criminal was Dick Armitage and Plames hubby who was negligent in his job. these are the ones who outed Val, not Libby. But hey the truth does not matter as long as you can convict a political opponet.
The democrats will continue to bring every member of the Bush administration to trial on trumped up charges so no one will notice that the democratic controlled congress has done nothing since taking office in January 2007
Posted by not here on July 14, 2007 05:31 PMPoster at 03:52, why do you feel the need to alter the facts? This was no witch hunt, the investigation was started as a result of the CIA being concerned about one of theirs being exposed as well as all those that she had worked with. We will never know who did what because of all the lying and obstructing by Libby and possibly others but Libby was convicted of at least four (4) felonys. Too bad you are incapable of seeing that, but since you are most likely a loyal Bush supporter, you would be incapable of thinking for your self let alone forming a rational opinion.
Posted by Ron 2 on July 14, 2007 06:15 PMHow can this be a witch hunt this was a Republican prosicutor hired by Bush. And for you NOT HERE everyone in Bushes administration needs to be put on trial. THEIR ALL CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by larrymc on July 14, 2007 06:26 PMif Libby is to go to jail for a lie why didnt clinton get any time? he lied too.
Posted by on July 14, 2007 07:48 PMWhen Clinto lied, no one died.
But exposing a covert agent of the CIA could cost many American lives.
Since Scooter Libby lied under oath to cover up Cheney's underhanded activities - we will never have justice.
Scooter is not the one who exposed Valerie Plame, but his lies allowed the guilty party to go scott free.

Because the "Up or down Vote!" Republicans have filibustered everything- even legislation with majority support. This is a strategy designed to lay the groundwork for BS talking points like the one you just uttered.
Posted by Charles B on July 14, 2007 08:53 PMThe CIA never started the investigation because valerie was never ever in a "spy "position. She was a clerk and a speaker. She went around giving confrences on what was happening from released documents not under top secret clearence.
The fact her and hubby went around Washington clubbing and talking about her past long before it was ever covered by the press forced the CIA into adviseing her of her signature about her work.
Witch hunt was definatly the name of the wasted money used in the fraud case against Scooter Libby. Lets remember the fact that the prosecutor was and is jelouse and hateful of Libby.
The fact that the republican party has filerbusted many of the assine bills the democrats have tried to push through is a good thing, unless you are a socialist. Then it is bad. But hey this is a play right off page one of the DNC play book on working the house. Or have you forgotten how the dems did this for four previous years.
11:40:
Could you squeeze a little more ignorance into your next diatribe? I think you're approaching a record for density.
Your close took the cake:
"Or have you forgotten how the dems did this for four previous years."
This is the least accurate statement I've ever read in this forum. It's the kind of boastful and full-throated ignorance that Dear Leader spews with regularity. Thankfully there are fewer and fewer suckers to lap up his vomit as time passes.

And Charles B pretends the reason is:
"Because the "Up or down Vote!" Republicans have filibustered everything- even legislation with majority support.
Maybe you could list the all the filibustered legislation for us, hmm CB?
Other than "the first hundred hours" the new direction congress hasn't presented much of anything regarding promised legislation.
But by all means CB, turn a blind eye and defend away.
Amazing!!!! Just friken amazing. The dems never do wrong in thier socialist adgenda according to the leftists in this country. Thier selective memory is outstanding. The hatred and bias shown by the left in this country is disgusting. People like truth, CB, and others who claim to be open minded and look at all the facts. HA!!!!!
At one time being liberal meant being open minded. While conservative meant not accepting much change. However in todays medium it appears all those liberals are closed minded and hypocritical Thier claim of looking out for everyone is an attempt to shut down free thinking. Look at the educational system. Polluted with only one side. Not allowing the opposeing side of an issue to be looked at.
Scooter Libby's trial was a political WITCHHUNT, run by vindivtive people who are still sore that the vast majority of America does not support thier view.
Posted by on July 15, 2007 09:39 AMWouldn't it be worth noting if dialogue and debate could return to the people of the United States? Wouldn't it be a turn of events if people such as those of you who respond to issues could respond to the issue with civility and respect along with your differing views? Why do people continue to use labels such as "leftists" "right wingers" "conservatives" "liberals" etc.? If we all want the same thing, a better United States, let us all discuss the issues without demeaning others. We see this over and over again with cable pundits and talk show hosts (not all of them but many). The sad truth is that our country is in great need of overhaul no matter where you are coming from. There is little confidence in both the executive and legislative branches of government. There is a lot of fear mongering and denigrating of people who are trying to bring important issues to the forefront. What we need is fresh ideas, dialogue and open minded discussion where people actually listen to each other, not anger. For those who are looking to do just that, how about reading "Where Have All the Leaders Gone?" by Lee Iacocca? Truly our nation is lacking in effective leadership, which is one reason why things are in such disarray. I hope the citizens of this country put a lot of energy and time into deciding who will lead us next. There is much at stake, and in the best of worlds, if we can find a new leader who could unite us all, it would serve us best both at home and abroad with the challenges that lie ahead.

Tell me He Who Has No Name, who was it doing the WITCHHUNTING? Was it:
1) The CIA who filed a complaint with the belief that a crime had been committed.
2) The Republican Deputy Attorney General who appointed a prosecutor to look into the charges.
3) The Independent, Republican appointed prosecutor who found Libby had committed crimes.
4) The Jury who convicted him.
or,
5) The Republican judge who gave him a light sentence according to the guidlines.
I know this is a futile enterprise, trying to teach an Authoritarian Bush Cultist like you, but I keep doing it anyway...
Let's not forget the witch hunt going on against Democrat Jefferson who seems to brought a whole new meaning to the words, frozen assets. It seems the democrats have been real quiet on that little thing.
