THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH REPUBLICANS.

Posted by on July 5, 2007 05:20 PMLet's impeach judge Alito. Alito joined the US Army's ROTC program and got 7 years of college education (JD and undergrad degrees) "free". These gifts were funded by taxpayers. Alito incurred 11 years of active military duty as a result of these gifts. Like Boy-George, he too blew-off obligated miltary service and therefore, like Boy-George, Alito is also a UCMJ felon (illegal separation and discharge).
Alito is the only politician that I know that "served" on active miliatry duty, but it isn't mentioned in his online "bio". Strange, he is affiliated with the GOP who views military service as "noble". The reality is Alito blew off his service under the guise of him being a federal law clerk. Federal law clerk isn't mentioned in the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and Alito is 30+ years AWOLee/deserter.
Posted by fleecedbyritterowens on July 5, 2007 06:24 PMOur media and politicians keep referring to the current court as "conservative." That is a mischaracterization. The current court is reactionary, and in the true sense of that term. Of course, to recognize the difference, it is necessary to know what is meant by those terms as well as history, two things in which most people are not at all well versed, even those who like others to consider them "educated." It may be the core problem in many areas, that many confuse skill acquisition with education and equating the two. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Actually: The Taney Court reflected what the Constitution said at the time. By interpreting the Constitution correctly, the Court brought about seccession driven by a desire to emancipate the slaves by the North. I now stand to be corrected.

Unfortunately, sir, the word, "conservative", is the one currently pre-empted by those on the fringes of the far Right wing to describe their "cause". Just as, "liberal" - or more often, "socialist" - is the way in which they describe anyone and everyone, anything and everything, that offers dissent, disagreement, or opposition. (And, the use of "socialist" is usually accompanied by epithets - presumably for emphasis as to how "un-American" any refusal to swallow whole the reactionary concept of turning the clock backwards to a mythical period of "good old days" really is.)
Welcome to the forum, sir. I hope you will find both a lot of good fun and an opportunity to be a contributor to the market place of ideas.
Posted by Old Grouch on July 6, 2007 10:43 AMAs a matter of fact, politicians have manipulated, spun, reinvented, and even wholly created words for so long now, that a large part of our language has lost definable meaning. Add to that the ever changing slang, coloquialisms, the regional, ethnic lingos and jargons they use and it becomes almost impossible to understand what they are saying which, I have no doubt, was contrived to have that exact effect by who else?,Why politicians of course. It gives them what presidents long for but almost always misuse, deniability.
