Time to impeach?
Time to Impeach: It’s time for Congress to begin formal hearings on the impeachment of the president and vice-president. Not because of who they are, but because of what they’ve done. We are in a constitutional crisis, and the solution to this crisis is for Congress to follow its responsibilities as mandated in the Constitution and begin impeachment hearings. Regardless of whether you are a Republican or Democrat; regardless if you are a liberal, conservative, moderate or independent; regardless if you are a progressive or libertarian— the president and vice-president have acted in direct violation of the Constitution. They believe they can intercept your emails, tap your phones with no oversight from another branch of the government or declare a person to be an enemy combatant. The vice-president claims and then operates from the position that he is not part of the Executive Branch and, therefore, does not need to provide Congress with information it seeks. And now the president claims he does not have to allow Justice Department prosecutors to pursue contempt of Congress charges against the president’s staff for failing to give testimony to Congress. If this president and vice-president’s action go unchecked, the next president, and those to follow, will believe they have the authority to operate outside of the law. If you believe in the principles of democracy, in the systematic checks and balances of the Constitution, you need to demand that the House of Representatives, the body that is closest to the people, begin impeachment hearings. This is not about personalities or partisanship or political ideology—it’s about principles.

Don't worry our sissy mary congress will do nothing . get used to this because we are too stupid and lazy to revolt and take back the country by force!
that would be the only way to fix this issue correctly
Even if the all the Democrats voted for it, it would still fail. To meet the threshold, would require Republican votes. There are probably some Republicans unhappy with the direction their party is headed, but there isn't a snowballs chance in hell the Republicans would vote for impeaching President Bush.
True there's Dennis Kucinich, but most of the Democrats aren't bomb throwers. Most are opposed to impeachment, given that it is a waste of time, and would go against the very principle of bipartisanship they've been pledging.
I've been saying this for a long time. It is PAST time to impeach. We need to join together to convince the powers that be that they MUST DO THIER JOB AND IMPEACH BUSH. One can do more than just hope -- we need to start writing letters and organize protests to accomplish this mission.
Posted by Sheila on July 24, 2007 09:08 PMIts an easy job. Bush and his pappy (Cong. Bush) are both guilty of committing "high crimes and misdeameanors". They successfully conspired and violated President Truman's executive order (XO). This XO "desegregated" all of our military units. The Bushes "resegregated" all of our military units, when they carved out a slot for "W". in the racially segregated Texas Air National Guard. They violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964 too. Every officer in this Guard unit, "dead or alive", should be investigated to determine if they are like "W", UCMJ-felons (40+ years AWOLee, deserter and illegal separation and discharge).
OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE and CONSPIRACY, by Allard and Tancredo. I am a retired US Navy Lt. Commander, paygrade O-4. As a condition of getting my monthly military retirement check, I am required to stay in compliance with the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), just as if I was still on active military duty (all military retirees). 1st Lt. GW Bush, paygrade O-2, is my subordinate or junior.
As a taxpayer paid "decider", I decided, taxpayers expected me to file felonious UCMJ criminal charges against "W". I did file AWOL, deserter, and illegal separation and chrges against Bush. I hand delivered copies of my charges to the offices of Allard and Tancredo (surrender monkeys, communist-siders, bigots, defeatist, and draft-dodgers). These two cowards violated a host of federal laws because they were required to deliver my charges to the US Congress, USDOJ, US Military Court of Appeals, and to former DoD Secy. Rumsfeld. If the GOP doesn't like my criminal charges, then they should amend the UCMJ; "striking military retirees".

Because they're party first and country second.
Then he claimed of Democrats:
"Most are opposed to impeachment"
What is your source for this information?
Just curious.
just remember Bush knows the meaning of 'is'.
maybe howard dean is not really telling you the truth and all of the socialist far left liberals know they dont have a leg to stand on in regards to impeachment and that is why they only say it to make you feel good.
Impeachment does not mean removal. It means very little. Mr. Bush will be leaving office soon. A better question is: When will we stop being subjected to Mr. Kennedy?
Posted by Tom on July 25, 2007 06:46 AMWow, what a load.... If there was an actual impeachable offense, the dems would be on it like Oprah on a canned ham. These "crimes" that the MSM get their panties in a twist about are not crimes, but they want you to think they are. The wiretaps are not illegal and were actually started by Clinton. They involve calls made into this country from an outside source and are not "domestic spying", but the MSM doesn't tell you this fact.
Have you ever wondered why that only the whacko left is looking for impeachment? it's all they have. And if they have to make things up to try it, so be it. In their mind, the whacko conspiracy theories abound and no amount of intellectual discourse will change their minds.
If there was a crime they could pin on Bush. They would have by now. They know they haven't got a thing but smoke and morrors.

Actually, a majority of Americans favor impeachment of Vice President Cheney, and a large number (45%) favor it for President Bush.
I guess a plurality if not a solid majority of us are now "whacko left".
Makes you feel late for the train doesn't it Dravur?

We have a question today, you see,
Between Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
(Or Tweedledumber, as the case may be.)
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
Tweedledum says this;
Tweedledee says that;
Tweedledumber merely sits on his hat
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
The faithful mount up on either side
Their great white chargers, on which to ride
In all directions at once, betide.
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
A war of words is thus begun.
With nary a thought to be found among
The mounting heaps of equine dung.
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
The Left is right;
And the Right is righter.
The loudest mouth is the side’s best fighter.
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
OUR LEADER!, they shout,
While trying to rout
The forces of wickedness all about.
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
The question’ s long lost in all the din
Concerning the PERSON who “ought to win”;
Because He’s the LEADER who is “without sin”.
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
No thought’s involved in something like this.
Blind reaction provides immeasurable bliss.
And solution to problems gets a wide miss.
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
Democrat or Republican,
The end result is the same old one;
Just another round of Dee or Dum.
Politics in the USA
Is certainly lots of fun to play.
chas b. a large majority is not less than 50% and 45 is less than 50 so once again you show your public education and your knowledge do not make you the sharpest pencil in the box.

Having read what Charles B actually wrote, several times now, I think it is not a matter of his "public education and . . . knowledge", so much as it is one of YOUR reading comprehension level that might determine the "sharper pencil"
But then again, one has to remember that "conservatives"/Bushites generally have to depend on what they have read to them; so I guess we'll have to allow for mitigating circumstances.
Posted by Old Grouch on July 25, 2007 01:49 PMCB - Any links to support your claim that a majority of Americans want Cheney impeached? Or for the 45% you claim for Bush?

Poll: 45% say impeach Bush
Even more Americans want proceedings against Cheney

A new poll found nearly half of the American public favors impeaching President Bush.
The private American Research Group survey indicated 45 percent want the president impeached while 54 percent want the House to launch impeachment proceedings against Vice President Dick Cheney.
The breakdown of the 1,100 respondents, however, showed 38 percent were Democrats, 29 percent Republicans and 33 percent independents.
The poll indicated 69 percent of Democrats favored impeaching Bush while just 13 percent of Republicans showed support. Among independents, 50 percent wanted to impeach the president.
The study was based on telephone calls July 3-5. American Research Group said 933 of the people interviewed were registered voters.
With a simple majority vote, the House can impeach presidents and vice presidents for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." Conviction and removal from office requires a two-thirds majority vote by the Senate.
Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson are the only two presidents to be impeached. Both were acquitted.
Posted by drew on July 25, 2007 03:07 PMThanks drew. But without a link I'll have to trust your numbers are correct. I guess I could go to the website you mentioned and find them for myself, but then again, I'm not the one who purported those numbers to be true in the first place.
However, I will indulge you and we can break down those numbers together.
So 45% want Bush impeached. As was stated earlier, that number does NOT represent the will of the MAJORITY of the people.
And 54% want Cheney impeached. What is the margin of error? 3-5%? More?
Why did they poll 9% more dems than reps?
Why did they poll people who aren't even smart enough to be registered to vote?
After we adjust for the numerous errors in this poll, we have large majority of actual voters not in favor of impeachment.
Considering just slightly more than half of all registered voters voted for Bush, he's actually gaining ground, isn't he?

Not that reality will ever tear KW from his role as this board's most prolific Bush apologist.
Posted by Charles B on July 25, 2007 07:50 PMIf the poll on impeachment is as flawed as the one claiming such a low approval for Congress be very suspicious. In the Congress poll they lumped together those who said Congress was doing a fair job with those who said it was doing a poor job. That's dishonesty in its highest form.
Posted by momma y on July 26, 2007 12:32 AMOG may I send a printed copy of your poem to a friend who works for a member of Congress? She will crack up when she reads it.
Thanks
Posted by momma y on July 26, 2007 12:34 AMmomma y,
Feel free to circulate as you wish. Once in a while a sort of "Danny Demon" sits on my shoulder and whispers doggerel verse in my ear. I sometimes put it on the little website my posting signature has here; but this one seemed sort of appropriate for this particular line on RMN's blog.
Thanks for the request.
