I fed up with the advertising stickers covering the headline of the front page of my newspaper. Don’t you have enough space inside the paper to sell advertising? I am making it a point to NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ANY FRONT PAGE STICKER ADVERTISER, and if you keep this up, I will cancel my subscription. I can get most of what I need off the internet anyway.

I agree completely. I will likewise be cancelling my Rocky subscription if it does not stop.

I also take the Post and can get what I want there.

The only way you're going to personally get rid of them is to cancel your subscription. Advertising dollars trumps reader desire every day.

And since the Denver Newspaper Agency controls the business end of the deal for both papers, get ready for the invasion of the stickies on the Post. A dollar is a dollar to the Denver Newspaper Agency, regardless of which paper is adorned with the delightful stickers.

What's next complaining that your yellow pages aren't "yellow" enough. I sure in some twisted way your sure this is a violation of one or more of your civil rights. This is the seventh letter of this type in 5 days. Including this one, there are four on the current scroll. Sort of shows you how much the paper values their reader's opinions.

ENOUGH STICKERS ALREADY!!
These irritating advertising stickers slapped on the cover of your newspaper are becoming a real nuisance. Every moring I have to peel them off in order to read text or see the page one photo in its entirety. This does NOT encourage me to buy a product, in fact it does just the opposite.
Much more of this and I will switch to a newspaper that doesn't force their ad's on me in such a negative way.

Hi all,
Please be aware that the Rocky may have indeed determined tha the "Sticky Note" advertisements are indeed a disservice to readers and, more importantly to the Rocky, may have a negative impact instead of a positive one for its advertisers.

However, advertising contracts for a publication generally include long-term agreements. Therefore, the Rocky may be legally obligated to see the contract out with its sticky note advertisers before eliminating that type of advertising from its publications.

Publications actually appreciate opinions about its advertising-- that feedback helps them figure out which advertising will provide the most bang for the buck for its clientele, who in turn will reward the publication with more advertising if the campaign is successful. Learning that stickies may be detrimental to the advertisers themselves is information the advertisers' marketing departments will be glad to use.

However, a little patience is in order.

No matter how annoying you may find them they are serving their purpose. Even if you hate those pesty little stickers (and certain annoying car dealers that dress up like super heros) the fact that they are so annoying keeps people talking about them and most importantly, the newspaper it's self. Mission accomplished.

I have mailed about a week's worth of stickers to the offending advertisers, telling them I will not give them my business until this tactic ends. I have also sent copies of those letters to John Temple, editor and publisher of the News.

If the News continues to blur the line between advertising and objective editorial content, they deserve what they get -- or don't get: readers.

Wonder why he didn't comment on all of the letters referring to the use of illegal immigrants as delivery people? Hmmmm......

Yes, I am indeed an industry insider. I have been in publishing for over 12 years. I am not and have never been affiliated with the Denver Newspaper Agency. My post I felt was an appropriate comment in regards to the subject at hand.

What my opinions about illegal immigration have to do with this subject is beyond me. It looks like you are trying to start an argument where there is none. However, to placate you, I am against illegal immigration in all instances. Immigrants should be afforded legal status to work here, and enforcement should begin by heavily fining and jailing employers who knowingly hire undocumented workers. That is my opinion. Are you satisfied now?
