America’s good name
Tuesday, August 7 at 12:01 AM

The restoration of America’s good name and standing requires the exercise of the process to eject abusers of official power.
Corruption is inevitable but not incurable. Liberty and democracy are not inevitable but rather require deliberate action.
Government can be clean and healthy only if the people have — and exercise — the power to purge self-serving, warmongering, secret-keeping deceivers.
Those who take roles of public service to serve private ends have no place in office and must be removed. Impeach!

Pete Klammer, Wheat Ridge

READER COMMENTS

Pete, you just called for the righteous removal of all but a handful of the idiots in Washington. But please do keep in mind that it's only 99% of the politicians who give the rest a bad name.

You are exactly right,We need to get rid of reid, pelosi, kerry, kennedy, durbin, all clintons, obamyimpisil, and all these other liberals tying to bring down this great country.

Lets not forget to get the impeachments going on the most corrrupt gang of thuigs since Al Capoone: Bush, Cheney & Gonzalez...then add in some jailtime for Rumsfeld and Rove. It's sad when I miss the honesty of the Nixon years...

Keith:

Could you lay out the impeachable offenses committed by the people you mention?

Thanks in advance!

It is not a disease exclusive to either Democrates or Repulicans, it is endemic to all politicians who attain power and control as a whole, regardless of political affiliation. I don' t know if they go through some form of transformation or metamorphosis when elected to public office but, it would seem sure that something along those lines takes place. How else is their inability to represent the best interests of the public that elected them to be explained?

Or maybe it's not that difficult at all. It might just be the base greed and corruption that goes hand in hand with selling one's self out to the mercantile interests of private enterprises which forgo the challenges of a truly free market place in favor of gaining advantage through influence and interfering in the government's and public's best interests.

Keith, my ranting, misguided friend...this great country has already been brought down by the pack of ReTHUGliCONS in the White House right now, or have you been on the bottle so long, and hooked so deeply into the Fox Noise Channel, that you are blind to the last 6+ years?
I think you're just resentful that your party has lost a good portion of its grip on power (and is due to lose the rest in '08). It sux when a majority of the rest of the country diagress with you, doesn't it!

Posted by Beavis on August 7, 2007 08:57 AM

No, Beavis. It "suxs" when people like you and keith choose to live or die with blind party loyalty to EITHER party.

They both dance to the tune of their own special interest groups and corporate benefactors. The tune is changed just enough to keep the respective party sheep faithful clutching to a concept of distinct differences that WILL result in a difference.

In actuality, it's only one party of political power elites with two wings; a Democratic wing and a Republican wing which enables them to offer the appearance of diversity and offer a comfortable place for the sheep to nest.

Party loyalty is just repeating the same mistakes of history while hoping for a different outcome -- insanity.

Thank you Trinity, saved me from having to type that. All these foolish party talking points are so old, they are antiques. And the word impeach...it's getting to be like calling someone a racist...or calling something "cool." Just a stupid buzzword for those too unintelligent to come up with something fresh. Clinton should not have been impeached, there are no grounds to even think about impeaching Bush....now Nixon...hummmmm

Posted by TMR on August 7, 2007 09:56 AM

Wow Beavis..that was freaking brilliant! Go back to school young man!

"TMR": You're most welcome.

You're absolutely correct too in your comments about impeachment.

We spent what, $40 million on that fiasco with Clinton receiving fellatio in the White House and tied up congress from doing anything except obsessing on the the game of "gotcha" for six to eights months -- ignoring anything of substance which might benefit the country.

Now the Democrats have the upper hand and have launched the "imperative investigations" -- code for their turn at "gotcha" -- into the fool currently in the White House. Nothing will come of it. And while we're going to spend untold millions in pursuing this fantasy, congress will once again be obsessed with the game to the exclusion of any substantial work that might benefit this country.

And before all the Democratic Party faithful start justifying to me how much more serious Bush's transgressions are in comparison to Clinton's, save it. It's all a matter of personal subjective opinion. There are no legitimate grounds for impeachment, only severe, time and resource wasting ,harassment.

Both president's acted based on political biases and expediency. Neither committed a true impeachable offense. It was a total sham, national embarrassment and waste of time and energy with Clinton. It'll be the same with Bush.

Grow up; grow a brain and start pressing your party office holders (both parties) into doing something constructive and beneficial to this country. It's time for the politicos to put away their childish game of "gotcha" and get to work in order to justify the salaries and life time perks they voted themselves.

Don't hold back, Trinity, say what you really mean. Good show old chap in calling a spade a spade. For all you party folks, suck it up and face reality as there both a bust in actually doing anything real.

You're all fools if you think there is no difference between Repubs and Dems.Look at the opposing stances on abortion, gays, war on terror, taxes, health care,education......
All any independent candidate will do is siphon off votes from the dems. Look at Nader in 2000.
Like it or not, we are a two party system and will be for a long time.

Anon 06:01: As log as there are sheep like you who keep believing the same old pablum, the results will continue to be the same -- dismal!

Yes, indeed, TMR. Impeach is sometimes used by those too intelligent to come up with something fresh. You are a perfect example.

Ok,Ok, so I meant unintelligent.

Wow, Truth. Such an insightful and witty retort. I hope when I grow down I can be just like you!

charles b.,on the impeachable offenses.I'm not ready to stay up all night to write. Maybe if I have time tomorrow.clinton has so many that is a night full.Oh chucky if you weren't smoking so much dope in the 90's you would know them!

Posted by Keith on August 7, 2007 10:18 PM

Keith, when asked to support his statement with facts, said:

"charles b.,on the impeachable offenses.I'm not ready to stay up all night to write."

I'll take this as an admission that you can't think of any.
