Bottled water exposed
It was with great gratification that I read The Associated Press story concerning Aquafina bottled water and where it really comes from (“Aquafina just aqua-phony,” July 28). It’s about time this fraud was exposed.
When I was young, I heard a saying that “some people are so slick they could sell bottled water.” And some are so gullible they’ll buy it.

not only are they duped into buying water they also add a lot of trash to the land fills with all of the plastic bottles that never get recycled, or that get used for the famous urine bombs along side the roads.
Posted by on August 2, 2007 05:13 AMBottled water, even from a conventional kitchen tap, costs more than gasoline at the pump. Why don't I hear folks whinning and moaning about the cost of their "must have" tap water as much as I hear those very same folks complain about the cost of gasoline?
How did America ever manage to survive prior to bottled tap water (and the billions of enviornmentally offensive plastic bottles needed to hold it) and cell phones?
Posted by Hank on August 2, 2007 06:51 AMThe bottled water that many people seem to feel is so important to their health was first started by a company called "evian". That company was started because a couple of Frenchmen thought people would be stupid enough to buy bottled water. If you spell evian backwards it spells "NAIVE" Guess they were right!
Posted by on August 2, 2007 09:02 AMAren't all bottled waters filled from taps?
Even if the water comes from a spring, it is pumped into those plastic bottles via a water tap...
Posted by not here on August 2, 2007 11:22 AMWe buy about one case of bottled water a year. We stick the empties in the dishwasher and refill them with filtered water from the tap. We have the convenience of bottled water to carry on the go, and the flavor of filtered water through a one time expenditure of $29.00 (4 years ago, still going strong).
Hell of a lot better than $7 - $8 bucks a gallon from the commercial folks!
Posted by on August 2, 2007 02:14 PMStan, the non-gullible folks, like me avoid drinking tap water that has fluoride added to it because fluoride is an industrial waste product that is generated from the manufacture of phosphate and aluminum. It is added to tap water and toothpaste, not to prevent tooth decay, which it does not, but because it is illegal to dump it into rivers, streams, lakes or oceans as it harms the environment and the wild life living in those waters. It is also in beer that is made from tap water.
Much of the fluoride in tap water comes from scrubbed Tampa, Florida smokestacks where a lot of phosphate is processed. A lot of fluoride was needed at one time in order to manufacture atomic bombs, like the ones dropped on Japan. The public has been duped into believing that fluoride is there to prevent tooth decay but this is another government lie.
Most European countries do not add fluoride to drinking water because they understand that it is hazardous and does nothing for health. I buy Eldorado Artesian Spring water, that has no fluoride, in five gallon plastic containers that are delivered to my house and the empties go back to be refilled and do not end up in the dump until they wear out. The cost is about $1.25 a gallon which is reasonable for my family.
Fluoride accumulates in the bones and will make them brittle over time and is a dangerous substance. Stan, who wants to drink a waste product, no matter how cheap? Also found more and more in tap water is the residue of many types of pharmaceudical drugs that are dumped down the toilet or excreted, as Americans are five percent of the worlds population but consume about 47 percent of all the prescription drugs. These drugs end up in your tap water. If you have time and like to read, go to the library and read 'The Fluoride Deception' and you will not want any more fluoride tap water.
