Catholic priest jogging nude
To the small town of Fredrick. Why are people making light of the fact that a catholic priest is jogging around a school naked. This is just another priest getting away with anything they want to do. If this were any other person, they would be in jail and hopefully, go to jail. Being a catholic priest. I think that he would know better. From what other priest are doing. Send him to jail and stop making this a circus.
This letter has not been edited.
Why is it a crime to jog naked in the middle of the night if nobody is around? It's one thing when there are people around and you create a disturbance, but in this case it was just a bored off-duty police officer who didn't have anything better to do (makes sense since Frederick has almost more police officers that people).
It does not matter if he is a priest or not, being naked should not be an offense, and it DEFINITELY should not put one on the sex offender list. In most other industrial nations they have a more open view on human sexuality and therefore it's us who are the prunes.
P.S. I am NOT defending any of the real perps of sexual crimes, but being naked is not one of them...
Posted by on August 14, 2007 01:21 PMExcept that this guy was reported to be shaving nude in front of 11 year olds at a kids' camp - prior to his nude jogging episode.
Why is it that it's always Christian clergy - especially Catholics - who are always getting up to sexual mischief? I wonder why you never hear of Buddhists or Muslims or Hare Krishnas molesting kids or jogging nude or getting "back rubs" from a male prostitute? I don't have the answer - just wondering aloud.
Posted by drew on August 14, 2007 01:52 PMDrew,
I'm not a big fan a lot of practices of the Catholic Church or most Christian groups, but I imagine the reason we see Christian religious figures getting in more trouble than other religions is that Christianity is the most popular religion in this country. I imagine that in largely Buddhist countries you hear about scandals involving monks etc. Not that I am in any way defending sexual crimes, or the way the religions are dealing with them. I just think that there are bad people hiding in all religions just as there are sadly bad people in every other profession. It is just that these crimes are particularly heinous when committed by a person in a position of power or trust.
Keri,
That's true - however I don't think I can recall one single instance - here or elsewhere of a non-Christian clergyman getting up to sexual shenanigans. Very strange.
Posted by drew on August 14, 2007 02:25 PMA Catholic priest doing something creepy seems to be the norm. I am sure living a life of celibacy has something to do with their creepiness.
Ho Hum, A Catholic priest-o-phile jiggling...er...jogging in the nude. Is he an illegal alien also? No? Still, the Church must give him sanctuary! He's just a poor priest and a teeny weeny(no pun intended) bit of a criminal.
Throw the Catholic cloak upon his naked sweaty body and defend his right to jog like a hog in the fog.
Posted by A on August 14, 2007 03:59 PMSorry, but I think no-nudity laws are idiotic. Lewd and lascivious behavior laws I understand, but nudity? Who's it hurting?
Posted by Charles B on August 14, 2007 05:22 PMI have a problem with this priest ! If he thinks that jogging in the nude by a school is normal , I sure as heck don't want this man to consuel me or my kids.He sounds like a sexual prediter who just hasn't been caught yet. Did he have permission to jog nude in public from his Bishop ?

Posted by Milo on August 14, 2007 07:15 PMCharles, “Who's it hurting?” – my eyesight and my stomach, I wouldn’t want to see your hairyass wobbling down the sidewalk even for a glance. That would surely take my appetite away. You nude in public would be lewd.
Posted by Uno on August 14, 2007 07:26 PMWas it cold out when he was jogging? Could cause shrinkage..
Posted by Mike D. on August 14, 2007 07:52 PMThe Catholic church will protect him like they always do. This time he was caught so it's harder to hide him like they've hidden wierdo priests in the past. As a former Catholic I can tell you as a member of the church you had better not break the rules of the church, (they scare you with the eternal hell bit) and brainwash you into guilt, but it seems OK for priests to commit even the most heinous of sins, the molestation of children. They have, for years, ignored the sins of the priest and just move them to another parish. This time they just weren't fast enough to hide this guy.
Posted by c on August 14, 2007 09:04 PMHere are a couple of items to think about:
1. If he was not a priest then this would never have made the news, just a side note about some dude jogging in the nude.
2. According to article, his church was next to the school and given what I know about Frederick, the track at the school is perfect for running with a smooth surface. Much better than a road.
And c @09:04 pm, being naked is not a sin according to all religions that I know of.
Milo, he was jogging at about 4 in the morning with nobody around, in the dark and minding his own business. Kids were nowhere around so why are you so paranoid. If he was doing it during daylight or with kids around, that's an entirely different matter.

You don't know to much about Islam do you?
Paedophilia is practiced ,usually at weddings,in a tradition spelled out in the Koran and known as "mufa’khathat " .
Just google ISLAM THIGHING and prepare to be truly sickened.
But, I'm sure you , Charles or Old Grouch will simple dismiss me as an Islamophobe and continue defending the indefensible.

Posted by Get Real on August 14, 2007 09:32 PMThe priest's story about sweating too much was laughable. I've heard more convincing lies from a 3 year old.
Posted by Liam on August 14, 2007 09:34 PMWas he wearing shoes? if so he was guarding his most valuable asset, his feet.
Since he wasn`t jogging nude after an alter boy, I would let him off with a fine.
Trust all you guys to get in the penis allusions.

Hmmmmm, very interesting...

Pathetic.
Posted by Charles B on August 14, 2007 09:53 PMCharles B.-
Id hope you find the Islamic practice of mufa’khathat pathetic and comment on that instead of diverting towards an "all religions are equally pathetic " angle.
They are not.
Posted by Get Real on August 14, 2007 10:49 PMGet Real:
Tell me why believing in supernatural nonsense for which there is no proof is not pathetic.
It's typical of religious people: The belief that your ghosts and magic are real, and everybody else's are not.
Like I said, pathetic.
Want to take the steam out of Islam? Give up your religion. All religions are co-dependent.

Odd how a man in leather skanties or drag at a Gay Pride parade is going to warp "the children" for all time, but a naked priest is no big deal.
WHat's next, a "Naked Nuns" DVD?
Posted by Hans Christian Brando on August 15, 2007 07:44 AMWell, Charles B.
Agreement 2 in one day!!!!!!! Naked people are just that, naked people. Only their actions can add adjectives like lewd, nasty, perverted. BUT, if nudity is public, you should have the courtesy and respect to not make the people around you uncomfortable. If you are not bothering anyone, who cares.
However, THE FACT IS, most people would be uncomfortable dealing with a nude person or seeing one, particularly someone old, ugly, dirty or otherwise decrepit. Whether this is a hang-up or not it is the truth. If someone flaunts his lifestyle by clothes or lack there-of, then I have the right to laugh at them.
Just like TV, if you don't like it, Turn it off!!!! This goes for Mr Limbough or MR Roberts or Mr Brokehaw or Mr Henity. They all have equal rights.

Yep, you never hear about Muslim clergy stoning a woman to death, or honor killings, or forcing their women to wear oppressive garments. Nope, never.
The dude is a whacko and should be arrested as he is obviously an exhibitionist and a priest. Remind me not to take my kids anywhere near Frederick.
Posted by Dravur on August 15, 2007 10:31 AMGet Real,
My! My! Isn't it wonderful, the way you know, in advance, what someone else will be thinking, and what they will respond to something you have presented? But of course, as a good Republican/conservative, you have to set up a straw man to knock down, having no other substance to your presentation.
But that aside. There is an old saying - generally attributed to Moslem writers - that goes something like this: "A woman for a purpose; and a boy for pleasure."
Just how accurately this reflects the ACTUALITY of Moslem practice, however, is moot; since I neither live in any one of the Moslem nations, nor do I take for granted that any and all "proverbs" - or "old sayings" - are necessarily always correct.
Also, just what this has to do with the current subject eludes me, as well.
So far, anyway, no one is charging him with, nor has by been caught in the act of, buggering his altar boys - however much this seems to be commonplace among Romans.
There is an old, long time established, nudist colony in Colorado. Perhaps he should just go there when he chooses to jog. I am certain that no one there would even raise an eyebrow.
Or, as one writer has so excellently put it, it is a matter of courtesy - to the rest of the public, who generally dislike the idea of nudity - rather than anything else.
Posted by Old Grouch on August 15, 2007 11:22 AMOoops! Sorry.
The sentence should read, " . . . nor has he been caught . . . ." Different type styles and bifocals don't always manage to produce good editing.
Posted by Old Grouch on August 15, 2007 11:26 AM"Yep, you never hear about Muslim clergy stoning a woman to death, or honor killings, or forcing their women to wear oppressive garments. Nope, never."
That's not what I said Dravur - I said in my post that i'd never heard of Muslim clergy indulging in sexual shenanigans. The stonings & oppressive garments are all tenets of their religion. Which just supports the argument that religions are whacko & the biggest threat to mankind today.
Posted by drew on August 15, 2007 11:45 AMI Went to the site and noticed that a Muslim man may have sex with an animal and then kill the animal. In the OT the man and the animal would be killed by the community. Hard to find the kinder, gentler religion here.
Since the Israelites could take home little girl slaves, " for their own purposes" (OT) how young a girl could they take.? And what for?
All religion is mental illness, neurotic and deadly, but differing in degree.
Christians probably stoned women unless they got the e-mail from Jesus not to.
Go Secular Humanism and Secular Progressives. Get your t-shirts made today. Stone religion.
Posted by Sharon B. on August 15, 2007 03:00 PMThe shoe falls on all patriarchal religions. Catholic priests have been raping little boys for nearly 2000 years. It wasn't until rule of law highlighted the practice that society became aware. Mormons rape and ravage as do the ten thousand mutants of Christianity. FreeThought Today features monthly Black Collar Crime Blotter and though Christianity gets the most press because America is a secular nation dominated by Christianity, you will find monks, muslims, imams, et al preying on children.
Click unto www.ffrf.org and ask for a complimentary copy of FreeThought Today. By oneself plan on an exercise in futility in militating against religion; FFRF is ten thousand strong and growing. Sometimes it is only that all the fools are on the same side and right now the Christian Taliban has 85% or more on its side each sect saving its most vicious attack on each other but joined together by the virgin birth of a baby Jew from the "loins of David," hardly an enlightened concept but more of Dark Ages.
As for the naked jogging priest: His prayer is for prey. Err in favor of the children. Assume Pope Rat is a pedophile as is Justice Scalia's son, the beastly priest.
Posted by RG, Deicide r22037@yahoo on August 15, 2007 03:46 PMRG, what can I do to militate against religion except for corrupting the minds of my friends, relatives and any stranger who can`t get away from me?

With all due respect-
What the hell are you talking about?
Read through the thread-
My initial post was in response to Drew's amazement as how he had never heard about any religious indiscretions committed by Muslims, ie; its always Christens.
I highlighted one of the many DISGUSTING aspects of Islam, dirctely from the Koran, with the hope of putting into perspective the false claims by progressives like yourself that Christianity is the end all evil.
If you want to push your anti religion agenda, please go after a religion that needs it.
The naked jogging freak priest out to know better,
as should you.

"Its typical of religous people"
Sorry Bud,
I'm not a religious person.
I was raised a Protestant, and when I was confirmed at the age of 14 was told by my parents it was my choice if I wanted o go back.
I rarely did-
Maybe an occasional Christmas or Easter service for my Mom.
I always question everything , with the hope of seeking the truth ,and figure what I was taught can only enlighten and not hurt, unlike Islam, that can encourage and teach ruthless violence and unspeakable acts such as mufa’khathat .
After all, its pretty simple-
Treat people as you would like to be treated.
I'm more an agnostic than an atheist-
Its not that I don't believe in a supreme being, I'm just not sure.
My philosophy is go through life striving to be the best you can, instill that in your kids , and you cant go wrong,
Unless you're being taught that dry humping babies is acceptable and normal.
Which, after reading your previous non response, you seem to have no problem with.
Freak
Posted by Get Real on August 15, 2007 09:42 PMSo I`m a five year old comparing thinging or being raped by an Israelite. This religion comparison thing is about the lesser of two evils.
One evil, Christianity, is older and mellower, and the prophet was a creepy old man with a very young bride. Yuck on all of them.

Posted by Charles B on August 16, 2007 08:33 AMActually, an even better combination of jogging and obscenity was the photo--photo op--of Bush jogging on his healthy little legs with two less fortunate Iraq veterans.

You are an idiot bringing Bush into this forum.
As I said in another post on an entirely different subject my spouse and I joke everytime we hear ANYTHING on the news i.e., car accidents, bad weather, burglaries, etc. "It must have been BUSH's fault". When people don't have an intelligent comment on things, they blame it on Bush or make a wisecrack about him. You are one of those idiots.
Posted by c on August 16, 2007 10:33 AMGet Real,
Know better about what?
You indicated that I was supposed to come along and "simply dismiss (you) as an Islamophobe". I didn't. And that seems to have disturbed you.- or somehow attacked your sense of . . . telepathy? . . . or whatever else gives you the insight into what other people are "going to do".
And, as to the idea that I hold that "Christianity is the end all evil", Gee Whiz! You surely are . . . "imaginative", shall we say? Another instance of your . . . telepathy? . . . or whatever?
There is nothing distinctively "Christian", or "Islamic" about paedophilia - if that be what you were sounding off about in the first place. And, rather than remarking about your being an "Islamophobe" - as your imagination would have it - I merely indicated that there were other places than Al'Qran in which to find "admonitions", no one or other of which do I have all that much interest in, or care about.
Perhaps, if you stopped trying to imagine what others might be thinking, or proposing to do, or believe, and attempted to do some thinking yourself, you wouldn't get your knickers in such a knot when what you fantasize doesn't happen.
Posted by Old Grouch on August 16, 2007 10:50 AMMy goodness, that's some little stack c blows.
Actually, the country was an idiot for bringing Bush into the White House.
But I'll make ya a deal, c (or as both your friends undoubtedly call you, ol' lower case): I'll stop bringing up Bush--certainly no hardship--I only did it this time because the topic had to do with both jogging and obscenity--if I no longer have to hear Republican immorality excused away with "Yeah, but Clinton..."
Posted by Hans Christian Brando on August 16, 2007 02:40 PMOh, and for the record, I never meant to suggest that Bush had caused the priest to run around naked. Feel better, c?
Posted by Hans Christian Brando on August 16, 2007 02:48 PMNot that it's apropos of much of anything; but I heard a good one on Leno last night:
