Churchill is no rock star
Mike Littwin’s column about Ward Churchill is so very wrong (“Rock-star Churchill holds court before heading there,” July 26).
Churchill is not a rock star, although he seems to have that mentality, thinking he can do whatever he wants with no consequences.
Churchill was not fired for his political views, he was fired for being a fraud, for his lack of integrity and for his plagiarism.
Going to court will be a good thing. While he stomps all over the Constitution when it suits him, he tries to hide behind it when he gets caught in lies. Maybe being on a witness stand in front of 12 honest people will remind him not everyone is a cheat.

Do you actually think he will dare to face a jury? He will try to find himself a nice liberal judge and hope CU backs down and offers a settlement. Of course if they do it will cost them a lot more money in the form of donations they won't get than in legal services that have already been offered for free. I would also like to see the trial re-visit the issue of paying Churchill's legal expenses. Wouldn't take a genius to see that those expenses are NOT going to include future litigation.

Ward has already “lawyered up.” In fact, he has had this lawyer from the very start of this controversy. His lawyer is the ultra-liberal David Lane.
Although I dislike Churchill, he actually has a good chance at getting a settlement.
In criminal cases where law enforcement officers perform an "illegal search," they cannot present that evidence in court or file charges based on it. It's the so-called "fruit of the forbidden tree" argument.
In Churchill's case, his true "crimes" of misconduct and plagiarism would probably have never been discovered had it not been for CU authorities who launched an alleged "crusade" to "drum him out" after his "little Eichmans" comment incensed so many people.
Basically from a civil law perspective, it's another "fruit of the forbiddent tree" case.
