Citizenship luck
Friday, August 31 at 12:01 AM

I got a chuckle out of Mike Rosen’s Aug. 17 column in which he objects to “birthright citizenship” (“What makes a citizen?”).
I have a hunch that Rosen did not do anything out of the ordinary to earn his citizenship. I’ll bet he got it the exact same way that I and the vast majority of U.S. citizens did: by the blind, dumb luck of being born here.
U.S. citizenship is pretty nice, and I wouldn’t deny this opportunity to others, regardless of parentage. I might not have it if Rosen set the criteria.

So, you would let a billion people become U.S. citizens, if they wanted?

Tired-a$$ed nappy-headed "HO". What a country! 50 years ago I witnessed my black friends dying at hospital emergency room doors, just because they were black and poor. Today I get I get to pay the medical costs of criminal illegal Mexicans. Despite being a taxpayer, I was denied admission to the University of North Carolina (UNC), just because of the skin I'm in. I was also denied enlistment in the NC National Guard because it was a "white" NAM sanctuary country-club. Today I get to pay the educational costs (public schools, colleges, etc.) of criminal illegal Mexicans at UNC, CU, UNM, etc.

I served in the USN for 23 years as steam propulsion engineering officer, and CHIEF ENGINEER, in 3 nuclear powered subamrines, 4 surface combat ships, and 3 deployments to Vietnam. Legal Mexicans like DeHerrera (CEO Denver SBA), Linda "Wonder Woman" Alvarez (former SBA and current Qwest board member), and Alan Ramirez (Colorado Enterprise Fund -CEF), successfully conspired and denied me my $150K PATRIOTS EXPRESS, federal backed business loan. They stole my federal loan, however, they freely disburse federal loans to their legal Mexican cronies, who in return hire criminal illegal Mexicans. US Sen. Shamnesty Salazar blew off me off because he was cashing his $484K federal farm subsidy check, which he intends to use hiring criminal illegal Mexicans to wwork on his farms. Tancredo has no interest because he has already made his NAACP visit.

My national security is also being compromised by these uninvited folks (foreign nationals). Their kids (anchor babaies), are joining our military units and getting unfettered access to highly classifed military information. Those kids return home and discuss their jobs with these criminals. Just maybe, worse yet, convicted felons are also joining and being recruited by all of our military units.

Mike, you're incorrect. My citizenship is the most valuable legacy my parents gave me. No Luck was involved. My parent paid with active involvement in their communities, lots of taxes and military service. My grandparents paid the same price, as did my great-grandparents, etc.

You want to reward thieves and cheats and allow them to let their children get the same legacy my ancestors paid for in time, money and blood.

You are acting as an accessory to theft. Perhaps you must think very little of US citizenship. Perhaps your ploy is make Americans feel they are undeserving of so great an inheritance as our citizenship. Perhaps you have never really thought about how great a gift your parents gave you. You are devaluing MY citizenship in your smirking, guilt-ridden give-away of American Citizenship.

Well said, Dave!

Mike Heiny, obviously lives in his own little world. Shhh ...let's not tell him that anchor babies are being used as an excuse for the illegal/criminal parent to stay in this country and continue to leech off American citizens.

Mike Heiny shouldn't be told that illegals are causing irreparable damage to the socio-economic structure of the U.S.

I have to chuckle along with Mike Heiny when I think of the communicable diseases illegals bring into our country. You know,(hilarious stuff) like antibiotic resistant tuberculosis, hepatitus A-B-C etc. (enjoy that fast food when they hand it to you)

Mike Heiny must be in stitches when illegals murder Americans, rape Americans, and displace American workers from the job market. Heiny should just look the other way when illegals trash entire neighborhoods with their filth and MS 13 gangs.

I know American citizens are waiting in line to pay for the anchor babies education, health care, and general livelyhood.

Oh well, I should save my breath and not tell Mike Heiny about all of these little known facts concerning illegals. I wouldn't want to fog up his rose-colored glasses!

What a lovely festival of hate there is going on in here! Get a life, losers!!

Posted by on August 31, 2007 09:51 AM

I don't perceive "hate" going on; I don't perceive losers; I perceive all getting on with their life. What's wrong with posting? Who knows how many are dazzled by the comments. I have been dazzled several times. I have tried to dazzle and been falsely castigated: So what. Every word I publish is worth $600 and weighs 600 pounds, right? There are no losers; however, I say to Keith: The Saudi Arabians caused 9/11 not Al Qaeda (although God orchestrated the event via a faith initiative similar to Bush's Iraq attack). If you don't get your facts straight the facts are going to get you and still I am under mandate to duel to the death your right to publish falsehood.

Our law ought to read that only the offspring of legal citizens and those of legal visitors, (ie visa in hand), be allowed birthright citizenship. Even that's probably more generous than the law of other countries.

Posted by Gail K on August 31, 2007 10:44 AM

Illegal mexicans should be ELIMINATED from this country.

how do we do it you say ?

well ,

first we COMPLETELY elimintate any chance at getting a job here without valid documentation that can be verified as authentic but revoking business licenses from employers who hire illegals.

COMPLETELY ELIMINATE FREE K-12 education in our schools for any person that cannot provide verifiable documentation of citizenship.

revoke citizenship as a birthright unless one or both parents are legal us citizens or documented immigrants.

DO not provide any NON emergency medical care for anyone that cannot verify citizenship with verifiable documents.

IF our sorry ass government did these things alone, the illegals would LEAVE i guarentee it.

Fresh, you just don't get it!! Our sorry a** government WANTS the illegals to stay it's part of the plan to eliminate all borders including the Canadian border.

Look up the North American Union and come to your own conclusions.

I am the author of that letter. I hear that Mike Rosen read the letter on the air, but I missed it. Today the Rocky printed a selection of the web comments. I'll respond to a few of them.

Mike #1: I said I would keep birthright citizenship – including for the children of illegal immigrants. I don’t see how you can extrapolate that to 2 billion, at least not in a reasonable time period.

Centennial: I can't even tell which side of the argument you're on.

Dave: It doesn’t matter what your parents did, YOU got YOUR citizenship by the pure luck of being born to them. Am I an accessory to theft for expressing my opinion? Can I expect to be arrested soon?

Bumpskier: I’m a pretty serious bump skier, too.

A: How is it that the parents of anchor babies are being allowed to stay? If our government is allowing them to stay, are they still “illegal?” Anchor babies aren’t committing the crimes you mention. They can’t, because they are legal US citizens and you are complaining about crimes committed by illegal immigrants. And, no, I don’t think those crimes are funny, regardless of the citizenship of the offender. For the record, I’m a Libertarian and I strongly oppose government handouts, whether to illegals, visa-holders or US citizens.

Fresh: You showed your hand by specifying “Illegal Mexicans”, instead of “illegal immigrants.” I think you’re just racist.

Mike Heiny.. The current law that allows for birthright citizenship should be changed yesterday!!!!!
It is questionable and has great merit for debate!! I have NEVER agreed with the law concerning birthright citizenship!!!!

Foreign women as far back as the 60's were waiting until their eighth and nine months of pregnancy, hopping a plane, and having the kid on American soil. Once the childs American birth certificate was insured the foreign mother would stash it like gold and return home to her country of origin.

Voila!! a surefire guarantee of sponsership to enter America in the future!

The law was not intended for that purpose!!!!!!!! I for one one do not consider the offspring of foreigners and especially illegal foreigners "citizens"

I don't want to support anchor babies!!!

Mr. Heiny, I suggest you start a group of Americans interested in supporting these children and see how many Americans will sign up....you need to be donating the majority of your salary for the care of these so-called "citizens" ...if you are not, then you are truly a hypocrite!!!

You can "take it to the bank" that if the Majority of American citizens "set the criteria" for citizenship, foreigners would have to EARN citizenship, not have it handed to them!!!!!!
