Comic switch a step up
Saturday, August 11 at 12:01 AM

I usually disagree with the Rocky when it changes comic strips, but it chose well to get rid of Diesel Sweeties and The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee, replacing them with Brevity and Little Dog Lost. Definitely a step up.
Now the Rocky can work toward eliminating some of the other lame strips such as Pajama Diaries and Over the Hedge. May I suggest Curtis, Stone Soup or 9 Chickweed Lane? There are many quality strips out there to choose from.

And further more....

I want Dick Tracy, Superman, and Betty Boop brought back too....

We need quality cartoons....since there isn't any news in the newspaper anymore

Adam 2,

You were looking for the RMN to be a "newspaper"? Or the Denver Post, maybe? For years, the only reason to subscribe to the Rocky has been the fact that it had the best comics. And, with the passing of "The Wizard of Id", and "The Little King", there is no reason at all to have to get stuck with the garbage wrapper - even on Sunday, as part of the unified holding company's strategy to eliminate the Rocky entirely, in favor of a total advertisement throw-away.

The "Diesel Sweeties" won't be missed all that much, I venture to opine. But, why in the name of whatever you want to invoke does anyone hang on to Zippy? And where's my Alley Oop?

Well, anyway; at least the RMN HAS a full comic roster. So, I guess we can all take comfort in the old saying about, "half a loaf" anyway.

Doonesbury used to be funny, (It started as a good comic with polically correct overtones). Now it is a Polically correct diatrab that also should be removed from the "comics". It has a place, but I am not sure where, maybe it really is tongue in cheek and DOES belong on the funny page.

Aw, do the poor widdle gwownups not wike the nasty old funnies (or the dreary new ones, for that matter)?

Hey guys, I don't read the paper paper anymore. I agree OG that Zippy is a waste of time. I go to other web sites and read the comics online. I stopped reading Alley Oop a long time ago. Diversity is necessary in the funnies. But the Post and RMN and don't need my money since they don't really report all the news anymore.
I go to the Seattle PI website because all of my favorites are there and they have one I'm very fond of...Cats with Hands. As the trainer of our cats I admire the sense of humor, the observational talents and the nice simple drawing style they exhibit. I contacted the papers and if any of the local papers add it I'll subscribe but until then...I'm here. Besides, whenever I was in the hospital I didn't miss the paper. I missed all of you disagreable scamps. Argue with you later.
