Computer woes reflect on Owens
Tuesday, August 7 at 12:01 AM

The article about Gov. Bill Ritter’s plans to end the state’s track record of buying computer systems that don’t work was welcome reading (“Governor seeks to bring order to computer chaos,” July 23). My compliments for the in-depth reporting.
This article shows that Ritter is systematically dealing with chronic issues that have plagued the state for years, and that is encouraging. But, it also speaks volumes to the poor management and lack of accountability of the Owens administration.
If it had been just one failed system, that would merely tarnish his legacy; instead, it reveals the Holy Grail was made of tin.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the Owens administration was a dog that couldn’t hunt. As a lifelong Republican, I am disgusted with the tendency of officials to get elected and then act like a confederacy of dunces.I am convinced the Republican Party is not long for this world. It will go the way of the Whigs and the Know-Nothings. I am declaring myself an independent.

Hell, Ritter is going to hire our own 40acres; bad attitude, fabricated statistics and sainted victim hood included, to solve all of us hick's problems! While he's at it he'll toss in lessons for ole' St. Salazar and all them other awol traitors he talks about. He'll even give ole' (PUNJAB) Ritter proper education in being a GOOD governor for all us folks! This will be the best of all worlds.

oh goodie a positive article on what ritter is doing to make you feel all warm and fuzzy. it is nice to know that with a dem at the helm we will not experience any more of these problems and all with be so rosie.
its like the dems have another wonderful way to provide health insureance for kids.. raise the tax on tobacco product AGAIN. this is all after their report that found more smokers in the middle to lower income areas smoke. so now its tax the poor to pay for their insurance that they cant afford. How could Owens be so mean.

"Woody" Owens was a terrible Governor

Well, Praise be! Ritter will become the magical governor, able to magically know when a computer system is going to be a failure or not. Wow, I stand in the presence of a magical being.

Will he also leap tall buildings?

Truth be told, he has no more chance of getting a system in that works than his predecessor. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. It all depends on the sales person's ability to cobble the software together enough to put on a good dog and pony show.

And I am in the software field.

Remember when Owen was being touted as a possible Presidential candidate? That was before the country found out what a terrible leader he was. Owen's best political decision was not run for President. Tancredo is embarrassing enough.

Sean, I remember when they were talking about Alberto Gonzalez as a possible Supreme Court justice?? Mind-boggling, the guy is completely incompetent, dishonest, boot licking toady who almost got appointed to the highest court in the land. Dark days of the Bush Administration.

I was definitely never an Owens fan, but buying overhyped software systems that underdeliver seems to be a general malais throughout corporate America, as well. I blame it on the prevailing attitude that technology can and should replace almost all human processes.

Francis, I agree with you completely.
But don't blame the GOP: Salazar was a Democrat and he was just as awful as AG, and is now as Senator, as Owens was as Governor.
I am a former Democrat who will be voting Independent from now on too.
