Katrina victims
If I didn’t scan the paper from cover to cover I would never have seen it
I wonder what the people on the Gulf Coast, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana and Texas feel about the conservative court. How many Republicans will switch over to the bleeding heart liberals now? At least liberals have a heart.
This letter has not been edited.
Fraki-
Why the hell would any ins. company in their right mind write a policy on anyone stupid enough to build again ON A FLOOD PLAIN BELOW SEA LEVEL?
At least conservatives have a brain.
Posted by Get Real on August 10, 2007 02:11 PMHmmm Have you actually seen the building that is going on in the GC region? Hell they are dozing golf courses on the coast to put up mega houses and condos. None of them are insured?
AND isnt most of the FLOOD insurance done through public entity rather than private Ins companies? Katrina was flood damage right?
Posted by bwr on August 10, 2007 02:21 PMNo private insurance company covers flood damage. Flood insurance is provided by the government through the Federal Flood Insurance Program. The "victims" were suing the wrong entity for coverage they chose not to purchase.
Just as the government require liability insurance if you own a car, maybe it should require people who choose to live in a flood plain purchase flood insurance.
But no one should require the stockholders of State Farm or Allstate or anyone else to pay for coverage they do not provide or receive premiums for.
Posted by Edmond on August 10, 2007 02:36 PMExactly Edmund.
Did they not claim their house was in a Flood Plain when they signed the mortgage?
New Orleans was a Democrat, black city. They don't deserve to have a place to live because they are to stupid and lazy. If they don't have addresses than they cant vote so thats bad for terrorist Liberles and good for the Best President ever, George Bush..

It's one thing to be obnoxious, but when you start with vicious, racist nonsense I think the moderator of this site needs to block this idiot ASAP!!!!!!
Posted by drew on August 10, 2007 03:44 PMMany of you wonder way these Democrats get so mad when they read my postings.Look at the words they use,the anger. This is because I am on target. They are trying to deal with what they know they are, cowards and US haters.I am making them face the truth and that causes great pain.Look how calm I am.I am not calling them names.I am only telling the truth. What the Democrats do and say helps the terrorists and they know it.If you asked a terrorist which party do you consider your friend the Republicans or Democrats they would say Democrats.Everybody knows this is a fact.Ask yourself which party would the terrorists vote for if they could? The Democrat party would be their choice. These are facts .This is why they hate my postings so much.I do not have to debate them on their lies just go to the facts.

I'd bet that 3:11 post is a set up.
Kind of like this.

Regarding 3:11 p.m. post by "An American", I think the post is firmly tongue-in-cheek by a Democrat, with misspellings, racist comments, and supposedly Republican ideals intact.
Posted by Denise on August 10, 2007 04:07 PMHi Rocky Mountain News
Is anyone moderating this site? The 3:11 post is beyond the pale & shouldn't be tolerated by this publication.
Thanks

I really didn't think anyone would make such an ignorant , racist statement.
I'm with drew on this, you ought to be eighty six-ed from this site.

As a black man, albeit not a Democrat, I disagree with you in your call for censor of the fool who goes by the tag of AN AMERICAN. Censorship in any form is wrong. Even an ignorant bigot like this fool has the right to spew his misguided and uninformed venom.
Perhaps just ignoring him would work the best. I usually recognize him within a few words of his posts and just skip the rest.
It's hard to take offense of racist comments derived from a bigot. Such comments only remind us that there is still, and always will be, bigotry in our society; and, it can originate from people of all colors and ethnic backgrounds.
Posted by Thor on August 10, 2007 04:18 PMThor,
I respect your opinion. However, hate speech isn't protected speech - nor should it be tolerated on this forum.
Posted by on August 10, 2007 04:49 PMThere's a difference between hate speech and just plain old stupid ignorance. An American is simply ignorance.
Posted by Thor on August 10, 2007 05:24 PMI've reported Un American. He'd better tighten his tinfoil hat, because here come the black helicopters.
Posted by A Real American on August 10, 2007 05:26 PM"I respect your opinion. However, hate speech isn't protected speech - nor should it be tolerated on this forum."
Wow! Does this mean we can censor the National Organization for Women and other avowed hate groups? Just curious!
Posted by RS on August 10, 2007 05:29 PM"An American" is either a closet liberal having fun, a red-neck trying to rattle cage doors, or an idiot.
If hate speech were monitored and deleted on this site Drew, you would have been out of here long ago.
Posted by skeptical on August 10, 2007 06:47 PMI don’t agree with An American, but I guess since the mayor of New Orleans wants to make a chocolate city out of NO, and got re-elected after that comment, in view of that An American has every right to his comments too. If you don’t like racism, than start by throwing out elected officials like Nagin, and other community leaders who are racist and do have an impact on peoples lives.
Posted by Uno on August 10, 2007 07:02 PMGood Lord. They said leave. People did not. People die. This is personal responsibility in real time. Darwin is right. RIP
Posted by Ben on August 10, 2007 07:38 PMUh, does't anyone understand that hurricane Kartrina did not kill all of those people? The breach of the levy did. Not an overfow, but a collapse in the structure. I guess the firing of the Army Corps of Engineers director, who, three years before, (who was fired three days latter) warned about it to the Congress, could be reponsible? But we needed a tax break. Gim'me a break. Now we're paying for it
He takes the blame, while millons get a $600 tax break which they pay taxes on, while millioniaires rake in the profits!
Our national debt is fast approaching $9 trillion dollars. Let's let our kids pay for it! Great idea.
What happened to the compassionate conservatives? I guess they are only compassionate when the victims are rich white republicans
Ben, yes they said leave, but when you got no wheels or cash to take a plane or bus you stay and hope for the best. Lots of mistakes made. Lets hope Stan, and Ben and Uno, and An American never have to ask for help. Insurance companies, oh yeah, a real compassionate industry. Pay for years and then make a claim"CANCELLED."
If your and insurance company and KNOW that someone is building in a flood zone why would you insure that structure. I think it's called GREED. Just be honest and refuse to insure or inform the insurer that there will be no payment in case of fire, flood, wind, theft, etc. So basically they are giveing the insurance company money for nothing, same as flushing it down the toilet. . Insurance companies, what slimy folks.

There hasn't been a site-monitor around here for some time. Perhaps the old one was a victim of the declining cash flow of the Republican Mouthpiece News--or just an intern.
That's the reason that Keith/Bart is back in. And why they don't make you use the same name everytime you post.
We're on our own....
Posted by Yep on August 10, 2007 10:02 PMOMG freedom of speech people. An American can say and feel however he wants. Free speech- it's not only for liberals.
Posted by on August 10, 2007 10:26 PMIf you're too stupid to find out what kind of insurance you need and then get it, you have no right to bitch when you aren't covered. Flood insurance has been around a VERY long time and should be a mystery to no one. All these people opted out of coverage to save money and now expect us to pay for their greed. Sorry, not on my agenda.

Posted by clyde on August 11, 2007 01:11 AMPeople actually upset about some racist and down right hateful words....I can't believe it.
If you had "monitored" some the language about "illegal immigrants" you would have been ashamed of this newspaper and the people who feel such venom.
As far as insurance companies go....we buy insurance and when we need to collect on our coverage....we find in the small print that says something like...."not liable for damage done by anthing. We collect because people are stupid enough to buy our coverage plan which clearly outlines....(okay, doesn't clearly outline) that we pay for nothing."
But hey, you are in good hands none the less...and lizards and all....you are a good neighbor.
Posted by Adam 2 on August 11, 2007 03:00 AMwow all of you ultra liberal left leaning dums are really up set when some one uses free speech you sho love to protect when it is in your favor.
Posted by on August 11, 2007 07:47 AMAn American is right. He's just telling it like is from his point of view. Then we have the attempts by the"liberals" to censor and oppress.
If Nagin wants a chocolate city, let chocolate Americans pay for it. I noticed no liberal fags mentioned anything about Nagin's racist comments. A bunch of non-credible hypocrites as usual.

Posted by Sick of limp wristed leftists on August 11, 2007 07:59 AMfranki, child left behind. If liberals had a heart the levees wouldn't of fail.Remember that New Orleans recieved money to fix the levees for 21 years prior to Katrina. But the liberals spent that money for there private interest.Which is criminal because all the people who died and the whole country has to par for it.Then the idiots voted in the same liberal crooks,i say no more money for them.
Posted by bart on August 11, 2007 08:36 AM“I've reported Un American. He'd better tighten his tinfoil hat, because here come the black helicopters.” – looks like Gestapo-like tactics are alive and well in the liberal community. I bet Real American was the teachers pet, snitching on fellow students.
Sick –I don’t think Charles is gay, just a cross-dresser who secretly wears his wife’s burgundy brides-maid outfit in the closet, tip-toeing around in high-hills, wondering how he’ll zip the back without tearing the fabric.
How come Florida can get hit with hurricane after hurricane and still be there and flourishing?
Answer: Because people got off their rear ends and worked to rebuild instead of whining ,Where is the Government?

Be patient and you will most likely have your moment to bask in the knowledge that scripture has been banished from society. It will be labeled as hate speech, as you have deemed it, and banned. Your own loving, tolerant (except for scripture), ideals will be given full sway.
However, it will be for but a moment.............

Posted by Charles B on August 11, 2007 02:08 PMWho in their right mind would want to move back to New Orleans? The place was 60% dump (and 10% great) long before Katrina. It is tragic that many lost all they had. The problems are even deeper than many think, entire families have been torn apart. Of course without absolutes; and all things being relative, who’d care.

Posted by Charles B on August 13, 2007 08:22 AMI believe the actual dispute is whether heavy winds or floods caused the damage to homes and businesses. The insurance companies are claiming floods, which the home and business owners didn't have insurance for. And the home and business owners are claiming wind.
