Legislators wanting
Monday, August 27 at 12:01 AM

I question how Sen. Ken Salazar and Rep. Mark Udall can represent us adequately in Congress when they are reluctant to allow citizens and constituents — their employers, since it is they (and we) who pay their salaries — to congregate quietly in their offices while awaiting time with them. (“Udall disingenuous in lauding protest rights,” letter to the editor, Aug. 16.)
Any other employees would be fired for ignoring their bosses! How can we trust them to defend the Constitution when they’re ignoring free speech? (And Salazar has already proven he thinks he can ignore the Constitution with his wiretapping vote!)
Do these employees deserve to be rehired?

Rehired??? They didn't deserve to be hired in the first place, but too many sheep saw a (D) behind their names and figured they were against business (anyone ever have a bad employer?) and for the common man. The sheep didn't see that they were for themselves only.

The sheep went in mass to vote repeatedly for udall and his moronic ways and lack of intellegence. His constituants got what they voted for.

Now they want to try and blame republicans and conservatives for thier ignorance. What a joke. Just goes to prove P.T. Barnum was right. "one is born every minute.

where did you ever get the idea that they give a s*** about what you think? they will tell you what you want to hear and get your vote and then it get out of my space.
i wounder if the protesters that are going to jail for being in his office will sue him? I know that they are doing that to the GOP but will they do it to their own? and udall was wonderful on it wishing only the minimum time in jail.

Ken Salazar (Bush's skipper, S.S. Amnesty -just another slave ship) is in this business to line his pockets with taxpayers gold. He even voted for his own federal farm subsidy to the tune of $484K. This draftdodging wanker didn't vote for my $150K Patriots Express business loan. He allowed his home-boys (DeHerrera, Linda "Wonder Woman" Alvarez, and Alan Ramirez) ) in the Denver SBA and Colorado Enterprise Fund (CEF) to shaft me and my family. I think Slazar should be impeached for federal funds fraud, waste, and abuse. Sen. McCain never votes on anything where he stands to financially benefit (VA disability compensation). I served in 3 deployments to Vietnam and I didn't see Salazar, DeHerrera, Alvarez, or Ramirez there either time.

Black disabled Vietnam veterans like me are being shafted because Uncle Obama's Cabin (Congressional Black Caucus - CBC- comical blacks in congress) are gutless wonders. They physically and politically fear these Latino thugs. When the CBC arrives in Denver for their convention, I intend to arrest all of them and escort them to SuperMax in Canon City, CO.

When are both the republicans and democrates going to finally understand that this zealous fidelity to their party lines does not promote progress toward solutions. Quite the opposite, it only serves to widen the void between them and do an injustice to the people each claims to represent in the process.

Do you really think people can eat divisiveness, live under a roof of distraction sleep on incongruity, put antagonism in their gas tank and work in rancor, while politicians ignore their plight, reduce their freedoms, burden them with taxes, corrupt the constituion and sell themselves to private interests which belies the legal duty they have to represent the best interests of the people.

If you do and you continue in blind ignorance of the consequences that are inevitable, don't be surprised when the whole thing comes to a screaching halt right on your doorstep and your whole world crumbles before your very eyes while you try to figure out why it all is happening.

wow, 40acres is back.... and whining that he doesn't get his $150k chunk of government cheese. Is everyone, including the Olsen twins out to get the black vet? How about you go out, get a job and quit waiting for the .gov to spoon feed you.

As to the OP. As much as it pains me to say this, as I have no love for Salazar or Udall, they have a right to not have people camping their place of business and having trespassers removed, same as you or I do. They have the right to allow in whomever they please. I am relatively sure that if a few people made an appointment to see them, they would see you at that time. Just because you pay their salaries does not mean you get to break a law to protest to them.

They have private property rights just as anyone else. Even though you pay the salaries to police officers does not mean you can camp on their lawn and protest in their yard. You may protest in the public street if you wish, but not on the private property. Businesses and offices are also considered private property.

Always remember, your rights end when they trample on mine.

Seems most posters here missed that part of the letter dravur.

While I don't support these clowns in office, the protesters over steps their bounds by not leaving when asked to.

Although the offices are public property, that in no ways gives anyone a right to disrupt the daily business there.

There a right and wrong ways to protest.

I agree with KW. That said.

This is an awful, terrible day for me. Where did I go wrong?

Dravur:

I've got news for you. The State of Colorado considers all businesses private property except when it come to smoking, then they become public property because people might become exposed to second hand smoke INVOLUTARILY. How one can walk into a bar or tavern that has a sign on the door saying smoking is allowed and be involutarily exposed is beyond me. Like someone is going to put them in a headlock and force them to enter or some such crap.

The legislators don't care one bit if that extends to you car, your house or anywhere else the tobacco control and health police decide should be a banned place. Hell, an AP reported that in Putnam County New York the health cops wanted to ban doughnuts in senior citizens centers because they did not think they were proper food for people over 65. Imagine them arresting some venerable old vet for involutarily exposing people to the deadly second hand doughnut breath. I'm telling you, these zealots are dangerous. It won't be long before bar-be-cueing in your back yard will be a felony and if you also have doughnuts in your possession, that will be an additional aggravating circumstance.

Some one has to stop this BS before every freedom of choice we have now will just become a fond memory.

Posted by Allen Campbell on August 27, 2007 10:22 AM

I agree Allen. I do not support bans on smoking in private businesses. If they want to allow smoking, I have the freedom to not do business with them, but I do not have the right to tell them not to.

So, even though I benefit from the law, I do not support smoking bans as they are fundamentally anti property rights.

I was keeping my thoughts above on the specific topic at hand.

I seem to recall your saying that the protesters at a Private Bushe rally a couple of years ago, did not overstep their bounds when asked to leave a Private function.,. Hmmmm. Isee the old its ok for us but not for them type of freedom advocate here..
