Minneapolis vs. New Orleans
Friday, August 10 at 2:00 PM

Hurlburt Anderson of Arvada writes:

I see that President Bush and Congress are rushing aid to Minnesota to rebuild the collapsed bridge. Meanwhile, people in New Orleans are still waiting for assistance two years later.
The fact that Minnesota is predominantly white while New Orleans is mostly black wouldn’t have anything to do with that ... nah, not possible.

Hurlburt is a Bush hating,race baiting a-hole.

Him not having any brain cells wouldn't have anything to do with that... nah,not possible.

It MUST be race!!! Right? That would be the only difference between 8 - 13 people being killed (and a pretty easy fix) and hundreds of thousands displaced and dead and millions of acres of property destroyed. But, maybe if New Orleans was all white, then the speed and efficiency would have been the same!

What a tool!!!

You forgot about the Republican Convention being in Minnesota. Wouldn't look good to have a crumbling infrastructure as a monument to Reaganomics.

"The fact that Minnesota is predominantly white". This is a fairly accurate statement. However, Minneapolis in not "predominately" white. In fact, the area surrounding the bridge that collapsed contains the largest population of Somolians to be found in the US.

I would agree that the sense of urgency being shown in more related to the upcoming GOP convention than anything.

Maybe he'll fly over the bridge on his way to vacation in Crawford - just to let the bridge fixers know they're doing a
"heck of a job." Maybe he can have "Brownie" supervise the salvage operations.

What a bunch of moronic statements! The people of New Orleans are still waiting? We have pumped millions, maybe billions of dollars into that toilet of a city! A little bridge is pretty easy compared to a whole city. Quit race baiting Hurlbert, you just sound like an idiot.

Or Drew he could throw brownies out of the chopper to all the workers. Reminds me of Less Nessman throwing turkeys out of the chopper for TGiving on "WKRP" sitcom yrs ago

It is a known fact among many liberals that Bush personally made and used his evil weather machine specifically to create hurricanes that only kill black people.

Posted by Get Real on August 10, 2007 03:35 PM

More white people actually died in Katrina than black.

But that inconvenient fact doesn't matter one bit to the BDS suffering Dems.

I'll bet the people of Minneapolis did not immediately begin looting stores, shooting at rescuers, and assaulting innocent victims when their disaster happened.

"It is a known fact among many liberals that Bush personally made and used his evil weather machine specifically to create hurricanes that only kill black people"

yup..and then Bush's evil response team sprang into action and did....nothing. And Bush flew to Crawford & cut brush. That's the one thing that he does "a heck of a job" at.

And when 911 happened he scuttled off to a bunker in the midwest - what a leader! Is there a pattern here?

Hurlburt, there is quite a difference between a bridge collapsing and a major hurricane hitting a major metropolitan area.

The federal government threw literally billions of dollars at NOLA. Now, we see the stories of massive hurricane relief fraud. What do you expect in Louisiana? It's the way it's always been down there.

The slowness of rebuilding NOLA is due to many factors - lack of flood insurance by owners, incredible foot dragging by Mayor Nagin and the city in deciding what to allow/where to focus and general plans for rebuilding, massive bureaucracy, and many others.

The race baiters will continue to ignore these facts and rant on. Some of us can see it for what it is.

Having driven that I35W bridge many times, I can liken it's loss to losing all of I-25 through Denver as to the crippling effect on traffic flow through the city. It is that important to the twin cities.

Um, no. With that kind of statement, I can liken your IQ and knowledge of the Twin Cities to that of a cucumber.

Hey drew what are you doing? this guy is a racist report him. Oh what's that? You're a racist too?

Bush is too guileless to be a racist. This is about photo-ops and closing the barn door after the horse is gone. Thanks Georgy-boy.

This type of letter reminds me of the sensationalism that occurs when a non-white person is vicitimized by a white person.

Then when you look at black on white violence, whites are victimized by blacks at a 17 to 1 ratio. But that isn't front page news for some reason.

To add. Did anyone remember all the school and transit buses under water in NO? Nagin and his chocolate administration were too inept to coordinate these for evacuation. What about the female governess witht the spanish last name? She can't do anything either? If a white man was in either of these positions the evacuation would have been quite successful.

Nagin and the govenor of Louisiana should be in jail for manslaughter. If a corporation owner acted like they acted he would be in jail.

The people of New Orleans including The Mayor and Governor had at least 5 days notice that a category 5 storm was going to hit somewher in their area. They knew the levees were not reliable and their drainage system was in badly need of repair.

They also knew they have a large population of poor people without transportation. They had 5 days to claim a state of emergency and get buses and whatever else to start evacuating people. The people who could have evacuated and stayed were stupid and stupid doesn't pay.

So because of the severe neglect of The Mayor,City leaders and The Governors office to do what they could to protect the citizens and heed the warnings of forecasters, the blame is all on them.,not the U.S. government.

Fema did a poor job at immediate response, but the people that stayed and the Government leaders of New Orleans are responsible for what occured after the storm hit.

As for the people of New Orleans get off your rear ends and go to Ray Nagins office and get your money to rebuild. Pick up a hammer and start cleaning up your own mess and doing the work.

My mother always told me , " You want something done, Do it yourself".
