Owens’ role ignored
The Rocky Mountain News story on how angry state GOP leaders are regarding the Ritter administration’s clarification of union activities (“GOP irate at union access,” Aug. 11) left out one very important fact: It was former Gov. Bill Owens who — in a tried-and-true union-busting tactic — gutted the long-standing practice of union dues being automatically withdrawn from paychecks.
Thanks to Gov. Ritter for the executive order reinstating this practice. In the future, let’s be responsible journalists by telling both sides of the story.

And that is all it comes down to with the Unions isn't it Judy - collecting those dues with minimal arm twisting.
It is all about the money and not the members which explains why unions wanted a Democratically controlled everything - that way they can get their revenue generators running again..
I would love to know Owens views regarding this issue. However, he is hiding under a rock, because Ward Churchill is about to sue him for his dreams. Also Owens is probably too busy to comment, since he and Allard have joined Romney's campaign team (whoremongers, draft-dodgers, communist-siders, and defeatist). Maybe this dynamic duo can get the Mitt-meister to come clean on how he actually sleazed-out of NAM.
Posted by 40acresandmymuleandNAMvetbennies on August 16, 2007 07:16 AMAnd 40acres is back with racism and diatribe... good to see. How in the world is known fraud Ward Churchill suing Bill Owens? What fantasy world do you live in, 40?
You betcha Judy, let's make it safe for the Union thugs to steal from the members. The Dems know who butters their bread, so the Dems know when to get out the mouthwash and kneepads. Let's make sure the unions are not deprived of their ill-gotten booty. Who cares about the worker? The Union cares, cuz that's where the cash comes from.
The dems care cuz thats where the cash comes from. The worker cares, cuz.... um, he's the one they get the cash from. Yep, this is just a shakedown scam by the dems on the hard working union worker.

If Romney wins the presidency he is free to send $billions of our taxes collected to his prophet in Utah so more temples can be built for the spirit children from outer space in the vicinity of Kolog.
Forty Acres serves a purpose. I am able to denounce Romney before he channels from the treasury a direct route into the theocracy of the State of Utah.
The terrorist Supremes, all Catholic, have made such a highway possible in aquiescing to killer Bush whose "final madness" like Hitler's surge: Battle of the Bulge, results in deaths and displacement too onerous and horrific to mention. Posted by tj on August 16, 2007 12:28 PMWhat's your point Judy? Are you suggesting a wrong was righted here?

Posted by GG on August 16, 2007 01:33 PMNope. Risen Ape is still on the same therapy seeking a cure for the goddamn mouthpieces for god along with the proverbial racist who draws a disability pension for feigned disorder in his brain or back wracked with pain. Your job is to identify the consistent complainant and identify my drift, to wit:
The state has eliminated a controversial chaplaincy program, but the man hired to lead it is receiving disability pay -- and will be until he is well enough to be fired.
The Family and Social Services Administration said Wednesday that as of Aug. 1, it had discontinued the program, started last year as a way to help employees cope with the agency's difficult privatization.
The Indianapolis Star reported in June that the program had cost the state $100,000 and had produced little in return.
In nearly 18 months, the FSSA said the program had met few of its goals, including the setup of a network of volunteer chaplain counselors for FSSA offices across the state.
The Rev. Michael Latham, the Fort Wayne chaplain hired at $60,000 a year to lead the program, suffered an undisclosed illness and was granted short-term disability status retroactive to July 30 -- two days before the program was killed.
Latham, 46, can receive 60 percent of his pay until he recovers well enough to be officially fired.
Meanwhile, the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation said it will not drop its lawsuit against the agency until Latham is cut loose. The foundation sued because it considers the chaplaincy program an unconstitutional advancement of a particular religion.
"Our lawsuit continues if they can't fire him," said Annie Laurie Gaylor, foundation co-president.
The lawsuit, filed May 2, began the program's unraveling.
The Star also reported in June that Latham had an aide who was paid $37,500 a year and that Latham had recruited just 21 chaplain volunteers -- none of whom had begun counseling duties.
The program's slow start occurred while Latham was allowed to work from his home in Fort Wayne, where he continued holding down two jobs -- as the pastor of Renaissance Baptist Church and in an unpaid post as president of the Allen County chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Latham's qualifications for the job came under scrutiny when he was made the highest-paid chaplain in the state despite lacking the basic educational credentials to serve in the state's psychiatric hospitals or prisons. Those chaplain jobs require a bachelor's and a master's degree. Latham had neither.
ffrf.org busted this African American in his fraudulent grab for tax dollars to preach Jesus sent me. Now, like 40 acres, he is disabled and probably shouting racism from the top of the mountain. Recommend acres be spelled correctly lest racism be alleged.
