President Bush
P
President Bush has done some outrageous things in his two terms, far too many for me to list here, so, for me, the top three most egregous are: 1): The phony and misleading way he took us to war in Iraq and the incompetent manner in which he managed it and the so called peace. It would take more than a letter to relate the untruths and ineptness.
Two): Sending his White House Consul (at that time), Alberto Gonzales and a top presidential advisor to the hospital room of Attorney General Ashcroft where he lay sedated and seriously ill, then shoving a document in his face demanding he approve of questionably legal, surveillance actions.
3): Telling football star, Pat Tillman’s mother, that her son had been killed by the enemy in Afghanstan and awarded a Silver Star, when, in fact he had been killed by friendly fire, some say, murdered. This lie continued for five weeks and only after a national, televised funeral did our military tell his mother the truth. Worse yet, the president will not release the paperwork documenting the awful event.
All three of these acts were unconscionable and any man of honor would have apologized and resigned. Pity, that honor isn’t included in this president’s moral assets!
This letter has not been edited.
did your boy clinton resign after being impeach for lying about his little bj's with an intern almost the same age as his daughter? nope he is still and upstanding man in your book.
it will be a sad day in 09 when Bush is out of office and you will have nothing to do but look back at the bad old days. either that or you may have to stand on the corner and defend another clinton and her actions. remember she voted for the war at the time and now she wants elected so she is against it. true to her word.
For hating Clinton so much, why would you use him as a crutch?

You moron are you going to compare lying about a BJ and lying and getting thousands of people killed. What a idiot!
Who lied?

Give me a brake are that stupid.
Clinton, Clinton, Clinton, I don't recall that Phil mentioned Clinton at all in his letter pro or con. Oh I see, if you say anything bad about Bush you automatically are a clinton supporter. I see this many times in these posts where Bush is the subject and if written about negatively Clinton is attacked. Now if you support Bush tell the folks why you think they are wrong without mentioning Clinton. Can it be done?
Posted by Mike D. on August 30, 2007 05:44 PMForget Bill Clinton, that should have been a matter between him and Hilary.
If it were your son or daughter dead as a result of this war for profit, you may re think your loyalty to the bastards responsible.
And I'm with the letter writer as to using Pat Tillman the way Bush did.
The man has no shame.
Get ready for Iraq, part deux in Iran.
The same sabres are being rattled as we speak. These guys aren't even smart enough to think of another lie, or lies.
But, still, the hard-core cons are buying it.
As I said, the man ,and his minions, have no shame.
And apparently, think U.S. citizens are idiots.
Posted by dmz on August 30, 2007 06:43 PMAnother attack by al-Qaida on the United States is "inevitable", the head of the National Counter Terrorism Center says.
Retired Vice Adm. John Redd told Newsweek magazine that al-Qaida is actively plotting to hit America, but intelligence sources don't have enough information to issue a precise warning or raise the threat level.
Redd also told Newsweek:
"If we knew where [Osama bin Laden] was, he’d either be dead or captured. It’s that simple. [He’s] obviously a tough target. That whole area is a tough target. And my standard answer on OBL is: remember [convicted Atlanta Olympics bomber] Eric Rudolph. Nobody likes to hear it but, I mean, here’s a guy [who was on the run] in the United States of America. We had unlimited access — the FBI, local law enforcement — and the guy hid out for an awful long time just by keeping a low profile."
"We have very strong indicators that al-Qaida is planning to attack the West and is likely to [try to] attack, and we are pretty sure about that. ... They would like to come West, and they would like to come as far West as they can. What we don’t know is … we don’t have that kind of tactical detail. What we do have, though, is a couple of threads that indicate, you know, some very tactical stuff, and that's what — you know, that’s what you’re seeing bits and pieces of, and I really can’t go much more into it."
"This is a long war [on terror]. People say, 'What is this like?' I say it’s like the cold war in only two respects. Number one, there is a strong ideological content to it. Number two, it is going to be a long war. I’ll be dead before this one is over. We will probably lose a battle or two along the way. We have to prepare for that. Statistically, you can’t bat 1.000 forever, but we haven’t been hit for six years, [which is] no accident."
"We are better prepared today for the war on terror than at any time in our history. We have done an incredible amount of things since 9/11, across the board. Intelligence is better. They are sharing it better. We are taking the terrorists down. We are working with the allies very carefully. We are doing the strategic operational planning, going after every element in the terrorist life cycle. So we have come a long way. But these guys are smart. They are determined. They are patient. So over time we are going to lose a battle or two. We are going to get hit again, you know, but you’ve got to have the stick-to-itiveness or persistence to outlast it."
phil, another "child left behind".All three false statements you made have already been proven false. Why can't you idiot liberals except the facts. How can anybody be so stupid!
Posted by Keith on August 30, 2007 08:21 PMHere's what I read in the letter-
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah - LIES-
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah - LOSS OF OUR 4th AMENDMENT RIGHTS
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah - MORE LIES
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah -
And a liberal who speaks of Moral assets Where would I start with that one?
I'm trying to remember back to when Bill Clinton was in office, was there this much venom towards him? If there was it sure wan't as vocal as it is towards President Bush. By no means do I stand behind all of Mr. Bush's policies or things he has done, just as I didn't for Mr. Clinton but I will always respect the office that these two men hold and will continue to do so no matter who wins in 08.
And no Mike D. it doesn't automatically make you a Clinton supporter if you critcize Mr. Bush. It seems people want to remind you that he was not perfect either and that it seems people from both sides of the aisle have very short memories.
And DMZ, the democrats play the same games as the Repuplicans - you claim the Republicans play the citizens of this Country for idiots - good god if I had a penny for every nannyist law the Democrats have created to protect ourselves from ourselves I'd be a very rich man.
Vote your conscience and values - not party.
Do you really think you are fooling anyone by injecting Clinton into every non answer you write in defense of Bush or visa versa. They are all wrong, both of them and all that surrounded Clinton or presently surround Bush. One of these days people are going to wise up to the fact that no one political party is wrong they all are because they haven't a clue what the people want or need and if they do they still ignore us in favor of the special interests that are their masters.
Posted by Allen Campbell on August 30, 2007 10:49 PMHey Keith, Larry Craig called, he wants you to meet him in the men's room

You can assert anything you want but that doesn't make it true. Also suggesting that any President is personally involved in everything that goes on in his administration or any administration is fiction that should not be dignified.
To suggest Iraq was not a terrorist sponser is absurd. By the way I heard his speech also and I don't feel misled.
In my opinion, other than his immigration stance, I am reasonably happy with the job he has done as president.

"I'm trying to remember back to when (President) Bill Clinton was in office. Was there this much venom towards him?"
Uh.....Yes, there was, only MUCH more.
Most of it false. Perpetuated by republic brownshirts .
My God ,Jack, were you not paying attention?
And no, the Democrats DON'T play the same games as republics,as much as Bush supporters would like us to believe,
The Democrats have too much class, and refuse to stoop to the level of neo-cons.
Besides, they don't have to lie, like Rush, et al did for eight frigging years.
The truth is all THEY need.
And it's catching up to the Bush cartel quickly.
Does that make you uneasy, Jack, and keith?
It should. You're backing a traitor. Wake up.

I'm pearantlee not as smart you.
Posted by KW on August 31, 2007 01:17 PMAs you can see it is the same liberal Democrats trying to give the terrorist aid and comfort while destroying our troops morale. As to Larry Craig I thought that the Democrats believe in homosexual rights.Wouldn't you think they would be defending Craig's looking for a date. Why are they not defending him if he is gay?
Posted by An American on August 31, 2007 02:07 PMYes, dmz the Democrats have Too much Class. That is utterly ridiculous and you sir (or madam, no offense intended) are a party HACK. Get of the the party tails and look at what both sides are doing to this country.
Then you tell me (and Keith) that I'm backing a traitor!
I'd like to know when I said I backed the actions of people like Danny Glover, Sean Penn, Cindy Sheehan and their ilk? NEVER!
I just love the way you put words and thoughts into other peoples posts.
dmz - if you are insinuating our President is a traitor than please define what traitor means?
phil, lay off the dope and get some professional help for your mental illness.
