Rove simply cynical
Another fat rat is leaving the foundering ship of state. Karl Rove was often described as “Machiavellian,” but he actually wasn’t that smart — just cynical.
Rove assembled the infamous Republican “base,” composed of the rich, the racist, rifle nuts, and the so-called “Christian right,” this latter being a classic oxymoron due to the obvious impossibility of being both right-wing and Christian.
The obvious question is Rove’s next position. I’m betting on lobbyist, but there’s always a fellowship at Stanford’s Hoover Institute or the American Enterprise Institute. These corporate propaganda mills are a sort of halfway house for recovering Republicans.
Scott Mock, Boulder
Wow, you'd think Karl Rove was the first political adviser/spinmeister in American history.
Do James Carville, Paul Begala, Ted Sorensen, Bobby Baker, Jack Valenti, John Ehrlichman, Hamilton Jordan, Truman's Kitchen Cabinet and FDR's Brain Trust ring a bell?
Posted by prima facie on August 21, 2007 09:35 AMWhoa, I think you're being a tad bit harsh, but I too find it pretty telling that Rove is jumping ship at this point. I also find it ironic that the (admittedly, smart) man who had the hubris to think he could engineer a near-permanent Republican majority has probably done more damage to that party than any one man has accomplished in quite awhile.
Titanic, anyone?
Rove was a hero,he kept gore and kerry out of the White House. That save so many American lives and our economy.scott is just one of the many village idiots.
Posted by Keith on August 21, 2007 11:03 AMWho wants to bet--just friendly bet--that old cut-and-run Rove will end up running the Hillary campaign? Stranger things have happened.

I sure hope so, we want another Repubilcan President. .

Rove is not fat. He is big-boned.
Posted by StraightRecord on August 21, 2007 01:03 PMRepubs including Bush are always shouting that the Dems are politicizing the War. It was this slimeball (Rove) who first politicized the war. During the election campaign in 2002., one of his powerpooint presentations for Repub candidates was to talk up the war. I believe this to be politicizing it to the extreme. And Keith you are the village idiot.
Posted by A True American on August 21, 2007 07:14 PMKeith, How in the world did having Bush in the Whitehouse save American lives? The Economy is so good foreclosures are up 93% from last year. And you know when the head rat (Rove) jumps ship it's going down fast....
Posted by Mike D. on August 22, 2007 01:17 AMa true american I know not.True Americans get a education.mike d. another "child left behind".
Posted by Keith on August 22, 2007 01:46 PMKeith, you never post with any information or facts, you just make rediculious statements. And if you are going to continually call me or others stupid by stating I don't have an education let me help you out. The statement should be "True Americans get an education" not "True Americans get a education". Also there should be a space after punctuation before starting another sentence. Also begin a Sentence with a capital letter as well as after punctuation such as a period. One more hint, names should begin with a capital letter as well.
Posted by Mike D. on August 22, 2007 05:14 PMI never used capital letter when naming an idiot or corrupt person in our government.I do use capital letters when I name your liberal hero's such as Bin Laden or Al Qaeda. That would get you liberals so upset.
