Sex ads unnecessary
Saturday, August 18 at 12:01 AM

Why does the Rocky Mountain News still put adult “sex advertisements” in its fine newspaper? Adult material and content is difficult enough for grown-ups to handle responsibly, so why does the Rocky make this available to our youth?
Stories that involve sexual activity and sexual crime abound in heartbreak and tragedy. Any person who seeks adult material can probably obtain it with ease. It is not necessary for the fine paper that is the Rocky Mountain News to contribute to this.

A newspaper is a private company and may print anything legally available. No doubt with the extremely high rates they are able to charge since the merged they need to fill the gaps with other customers. As for news they have gone the way of "shock me" and "show me the blood" TV reporters by sacrificing silly for substance. Why do you think so many read the paper here and skip those ads? Not because we object to them but because we object to buying an inferior product. Whatever political side you favor is irrelevant. The quality of the news reporting and other features has dropped to ever lower levels. Don't worry about those ads and stories. You can still train puppies and birds with them. Let the freedom of the press take precedence over dislike of some items and ads.
Frankly, I don't think they are actually getting more sex related ads. They are getting fewer ads from other areas.

There are sex ads in the Rocky? They must be in one of the sections I don't read.

Keith, I know anything that goes against your beliefs is a liberal rag. If that is so why are you always posting and reading it. The US is a diverse place with many different opinions and thoughts thank God!!!

Anything not written by Michael Savage, Ann "Man" Coulter, or Rush "Ass Cyst Deferment" Limbaugh or seen on the Fox Noise Channel is liberal garbage to the likes of Keith. Just read his posts, as they clearly reflect it.

Adult-oriented businesses are legitimate, legal enterprises. Furthermore, the advertisements that appear in the newspaper are always in good taste and will not turn your child into the next Ted Bundy.

If there was not a popular demad for adult-oriented products and services, then those businesses would disappear. Unfortunately for you, not everyone in the world is a Bible-thumping prude who wants to cesor everything that they don't like.

I hope you realize that your newspaper is made affordable thanks to your local purveyors and consumers of smut. Those people are your friends, neighbors, co-workers, doctors, clergymen, etc.

Welcome to the real world. Enjoy your stay.

Newspapers are our salvation. They always tell the truth, and if you're down on your luck, you can always sell them on the streetcorner. Editors have my best interests at heart. I feel warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. I save every edition, and am compiling them into what I call "The Great Book", which will hold all of the great epiphanies and enlightened truths of our day. When I write a dictionary, the definition of the word "God" will be "newspapers". And the coupons help me save me money.

I have looked all over the world for the one thing that can make me feel complete. And I have found it. It is the newspaper. For this reason, I can overlook the "sex advertisements", whatever they are. Count your blessings. They're on page A-6.
