This letter is in response to the column written by Dusty Saunders about CW2 (“CW2 fights to stop ratings slide,” July 14). While we appreciate the notion of the article, we are compelled to point out several factual discrepancies and to expand upon the premise of what was written.
Saunders wrote, “Locally, Channel 2 News registered a 4.3 audience share in the 9 p.m. hour — its lowest in years — compared to Fox 31’s record high 9.4 share.” This, combined with the headline, “CW2 fights to stop ratings slide” implies that there has been a steady downward erosion of the 9:00 p.m. ratings and has no context.
On the contrary, the number posted by News2 at Nine in May 2007 was consistent with the number posted in the November 2006 and February 2006 ratings period and within a share point of May 2006 and February 2007. If anything, the audience profile for News2 at Nine is one of consistency.
To write a column about the birthday of Channel 2 but to dwell only on the 9:00 p.m. news product, discounts both News2 This Morning and News2 at Eleven. In fact, News2 This Morning is the number one ranked local morning newscast from 7 to 9 a.m. both in household ratings and in key demographics. The popularity of News2 This Morning is a significant part of Channel 2’s overall operational growth. News2 now produces as much if not more news each weekday than any other Denver television station with the exception of KUSA.
We are forced to question the shortsighted nature of Saunders’ column with regard to Channel 2’s overall operation and growth in light of the station’s 55th birthday.

Hmmm, if rateings reflect consumer interest then maybe a change is needed in these time slots to improve interest by the consumer. Channel two went down hill when they hired that fraud Warren Chandlier to do the weather years ago, and thier crediability has suffered ever since. Other wise channel two is ok. Being local like it is we do not have to put up with to much of the MSM B.S. and concentrate on the local area.

Would be nice to see a show compareable to Blinky the clown again, but there is and will be only one of him.

Not important. None of our media sources present the "truth" anyway. They lack the collective backbone to say Bush is a war criminal (chemical weps and Rx drugged troops) and he is also a known UCMJ felon (40 years AWOLee, deserter, and he is guilty of illegal separation and discharge). HAPPY b-day Channel 2.

So, what Mr. Zerwekh is saying, his ratings are always that low. A source of pride, no doubt.

I love News2 in the morning. I really do. Especially now that Angie Austin is on maternity leave.

Here's some advice. Ditch Angie, keep Natalie and Tom, and the morning show will be even BETTER!

Her countenance and demeanor have me grabbing the remote every time she is onscreen.

Ya know, if they'd quit changing the name, that might help. It seems like Channel 2 is called something different about every six months. I can't figure for the life of me what CW2 means, or what their programming format is. Local? Not really. Looks like mostly a bunch of second-rate comedies that were cancelled on prime-time, and are now being foisted off on Channel 2.
I remember when Channel 2 was mostly reruns of old shows like Andy Griffith, McHale's Navy, Gilligan's Island, Star Trek etc., kid's shows in the morning.
Man, that'd be great if they brought that stuff back, I'd probably watch every day.

Seems to me the Post and Rocky endorsed W. Bush so to call him a war criminal may impute culpability on the endorsers. As for the letter writer, I tend to embrace 40 Acre sentiment.
