Story about judge sensationalist
Saturday, August 18 at 12:01 AM

As I read “Judge admits strip club visits were human ‘foibles,’” the Aug. 11 Rocky Mountain News article concerning the visits to a Denver strip club by U.S. District Judge Edward Nottingham, I couldn’t help but wonder why this was regarded as newsworthy.
Nottingham’s actions appear to be legal and, as a statement released by the judge states, “private and personal matters involving human frailties and foibles.” The Rocky, as a reputable newspaper, should be above this sort of gossipmongering.
By the way, the involvement of 9News in reporting this salacious drivel shouldn’t be overlooked.
The Rocky should be able to find more newsworthy items (e.g. Iraq, health care, etc.) to run in its pages instead of a lurid story of this nature.
It should be noted that I do not know Nottingham or his family; I want just want a paper that reports real news, not sensationalist nonsense.

READER COMMENTS

Aaahhh Thomas,

You missed the point.....remember the old adage "if it bleeds it leads".....that has been the motto of the newspaper industry for decades. Every news organization wants you to believe they are an unbiased group of journalists working to inform the general public.

The reality is they are a profit-seeking entity and they could care less if they destroy the life of one individual in a desperate attempt to increase sales of their product.

Lets face it, the day to day news is not exciting enough for the general public, so every media outlet has repackaged their product as tabloid journalism.

Judge Nottingham didn't do anyhting illegal but don't these guys KNOW by now that if you get caught in something scandalous and your more high-profile than most of us and the word gets out, you will be smeared all over the news? DUH.

Very intelligent man making very stupid choices.

If you don't approve of the media's coverage, which has died down recently, about the judge, why do you give rise to it now by writting a letter about it.

Not true: His Honor makes very good choices. Have you ever seen those girls? I wish I could mimic Hugh Hefner.

Listen RG-

Anyone who drops $3,000 in one night in a strip cluband has a wife and family, IS MAKING POOR CHOICES.

Think with your head and not your crotch.

Fooled 7:35 am-

While I agree with the thrust of your post the old adage "if it bleeds it leads" has been updated by the liberal media.

It depends on who initiates the bloodletting.

Consider journalist Chauncey Bailey, a black man , murdered by a disciple of a group he was investigating ,Oaklands notorious radical Islams operating out of "Your Black Muslim Bakery ".

This story did make the news but was downplayed and hardly mentioned since.

Now if the perpetrator was a white guy from a whacked out Christian religious group who gunned down a black journalist in broad daylight do you think the MSM would cover it differently?

How about this one- THAT RECEIVED ALMOST ZERO COVERAGE !

A U.S. solider is stalked and shot to death in his own home by a anti-war peace activist on the Fourth Of July.
http://www.newsbusters.org/node/14130

Do you think if the situation were reversed-

Say a U.S. solider hunted down and murdered a peace activist on July 4th-

Would the coverage be comparable?

No way, there would be literally hundreds of news stories and opinion pieces for months to come. And then yearly anniversary followups for decades.

I'll Get Real right now, and tell you you're a funny little pile of crap.

Instead of addressing the double standards found in media reporting that I exemplified , you default to childish name calling and insults.

That's cool though , its just par for the course in the progressive playbook , and expected when you guys cant rationally argue a point.

The only reason the mainstream medias don't put Inquirer in their name is that name is copyrighted.Aside from that minor detail, they live on the same sensationalistic, tawdry and unimportant stories. That is why we never hear of all the political and corporation corruption until it reaches the idiotic level of what Paris Hilton thinks or why some starlet needs help in figuring out why Meg got the staring role and not her.

I think the fourth estate has lost all rights to be called that. The lost estate is more apt in truly expressing the level to which they have sunk.

It appears His Honor's wife no longer provides the crotch; if you can blow so wisely three grand in one night, some terrific-looking female takes it home to feed her Lot.

The best way to take your money with you before you die is to spend it. I recall reading how much pleasure it gave Sinatra, et al tipping one hundred dollar bills.

We don't know His Honor's financial status; however, if he can wisely blow three grand he must have the means and by all means go for it.

I actually know a guy who amassed $millions and never spent a penny on himself except for necessities and died a millionaire.

Think with your crotch, and if you've got a lot, spread it around, these women in stip clubs have kids, trust me, its a win win.

See if you can see it that way C.

How old are you, 18?

Because one "blows" money does not ALWAYS mean they have it to blow. In the case of the judge, he probably does, however, how stupid can one be?

You think someone of his stature wouldn't act like some drunken teenager on hormonal overdrive.

What about the porn on the judge's chambers computer? His job involves a litle dignity of which he has shown little. You want to choke on porn on your home computer, have at it, but not at your place of work.

Like I said before, very intelligent man making very stupid choices.

Take note "c" or rather count and you will find that you are in the distinct minority. Every letter goes against you. Articles in the dailys go against you. It is none of you biz what His Honor does with his money; it is common to click unto porn on the work-place computer. God did not create obscene humans. If you think he created obscene humans you should consider another source of entertainment. As for "intelligent man" take into account that all judges are hamburger lawyers who knew the executive branch. They didn't get their position by being intelligent . It is not what you know but who you know (and don't augment with that "blow crap"). Appoint me to the Bench and people like you will assume I'm intelligent. I enjoy chatting and ask that you do not feel encumbered over my comments. Get a grip; chill out. Don't presume to tell somebody else how to spend their money as is the wont of those who don't have money.

You MUST be 18.

If you read you will see that the site you are on is OPINION>Letters to the Editor.

Have I said in any post that I think he should go to jail or be punished in any way?

I simply stated that the judge has no dignity, that he made stupid choices for a man of his stature. HE even admitted that!

I'll bet that every post on this page is male.
It's a well-known fact that males think with their crotch and get slobbery over strip clubs and porn.

I couldn't care less with the way the judge scews up his life. It's just a shame that he has to put a negative on a brilliant career by bad choices.

Ask the judge himself--he admitted it!!

You can return to your porn now. You're safe--You will never make the paper.

Posted by c on August 20, 2007 07:56 PM

I shouldn't get into this fray; however, it is clear that "c" is a female with a great disdain for a male crotch that gets slobbery while watching a woman induce. Don't you get it "c" ~~ His Honor did not screw up his life and he did not put a negative on a brilliant career and he is not sorry for his conduct. He said that only to appease the "c" seers and revelators with their slobbery crotch never slobbering. Get a grip on yourself "c" ~~ it is you and His Honor's wife that seeks to damage a man who got his position by being appointed to it in spite of his status as a "hamburger lawyer."
