Why is backhoe news?
Tuesday, August 7 at 10:31 AM

The Rocky Mountain News reported on a backhoe that had tumbled partway down a hill in Black Hawk (“It’s a real balancing act, all right, as backhoe slides against house,” July 26), and the article mentions that the accident occurred a week-and-a-half earlier.

I can’t recall ever seeing a story of the incident in the Rocky earlier, and I’m sure that had there been a photo printed before I would have marveled over it. I’m left with the impression that the accident wasn’t news then but the removal of the backhoe is now. Why is that?

The only answer I can come up with is that Lindsay Lohan wasn’t the operator.

Are you thinking The Rocky Mountain News should be reporting real news that matters?

It isn't going to happen.

They were just responding to the human propensity for satisfying it's voyeuristic addiction to human tragedy. Unfortunately, they couldn't find any shootings or blood spots on the pavement so they substituted that picture with the implied caption of "what if".

Don't you people understand that the larger the piece of machinery, the more cool it is to see when it gets in a spectacular accident? Get a clue! This and the classified ads are why rednecks get the paper.

Harry, don't be upset. The RMN has no plans to print real news that matters, their masters will not allow it. So stop wasting your money on the cost of this rag and read it for free for entertainment.

I would rather hear about the backhoe incident in Parker, that killed two guys recently. Were they criminal illegal Mexicans? The media is suppressing a few construction accidents and not telling us if the folks that were killed, were legal or illegal.

The media also conspires with the political leadership in Blackhawk and Central City, to suppress disclosing auto/motorcycle accidents on Hwy. 6 that result in deaths. We don't want to scare off those gambling suckers.
