Leroy M Martinez of Denver writes:

The Colorado State Patrol stopped a van with 15 people in it for a traffic issue. Then found out that they were in the U.S. illegally. When the ICE did not come to pick them up, they were released because the CSP stated that they had not done anything illegal. Then why were they stopped in the first place and I though that being in the U.S. illegal was against the law. Hummmm?

Why are they not held in jail? The feds won't pay for it. They don't want anything done unless we make them do it. I say let's make them do their jobs.

Well Leroy, most likely they were stoped for a traffic offense. Most traffic offenses are not jailable. Secondary, detaining illegal aliens is a FEDERAL mandate, not enforceable by state or local law enforcement. We as citizens need to force the feds to do their jobs, and add personnel if needed.

Leroy, I just can't keep educating you like this. You either need to go back to school, or opena book from time to time.

And when Leroy goes back to school make sure it is with white upper and middle class kids so he can learn something....

Isn't it ironic though that local police will enforce federal drug laws, even though the "legalization" of marijuana in Denver by adults up to an ounce makes it not a crime in the city of Denver?

The real problem is that ICE dodged the issue by making an excuse that the jail available was inadequate. Next time just contact ICE and tell them that the illegals are in the jail and if there is something wrong they are free to come and get them. Time to make the feds do their job. Of course I would pay a tax increase to buy the bus tickets to the south end of Mexico. They like walking..let them walk through their country for a change.

Abolish the Fed Immigration. Let the locals bust them and use the money to ship them home.

By the way, Denver calls Home Rule when they want to ban guns, but defers to the state and feds on pot. It's called hipocrisy. That way you can have it any way you want.

The people voted for the pot initiative, not the elites, so of course it can't be left to stand.

Maybe the immigration police are all out enforcing the pot laws.

Dan2....Denver enforces state law, not federal...which officers take an oath to do. If you want to make a change, try to change state law. Tvert and his band of hooped up morons did nothing to change pot laws in Denver. And Keith, you are just wrong, pot is NOT legal in Denver, or anywhere else in the state for that matter. You need to shut up before some moron believes your drivel and gets arrested.

I am being educated beyond my years at Metro and D.U Law School. Yo Leroy: I heard this on talk radio in which the Patrolman held them for two hours and had to let them proceed: Call it another Bush fiasco. The law is on the books and he won't implement the law preferring to create his own law as is typical of an imperial president, i.e. a president seeking more power than constitutionally granted.

As an Independent I listen to both: Liberal and Conservative talk radio: Keith, I recommend you mimic my M.O.
