Chandler Gafner’s headstone
Tuesday, September 18 at 12:23 PM

Tracey L. Fanning of Thornton writes:

When I read about the little boy Chandler Gafner, who’s short life was filled with misery by evil people, didn’t have a headstone,my first thought was,if the cemetary had a heart they would donate one for the boy.
The next day I read about David Crawford who felt this little boy deserved a headstone. He took his check for $150 down to Mount Olivet Cemetary in Wheat Ridge,They refused his money.Their greed was more important than a $500 headstone?
Mount Olivet Cemetary in Wheat Ridge should be ashamed of themselves! They refused to take a man’s $150 donation, because it wasn’t enough? Then told him to go to the newspapers to solicit donations?
What kind of world do we live in when a business that makes millions of dollars a year off of dead people can’t donate a headstone that probably cost them less then what they are charging the public?
I would hope people remember this story and do business with companies that care.
Mount Olivet Cemetary in Wheat Ridge is not one of them companies. They disgust me.

If you had a heart you'd donate the headstone.

Had I only known this sooner. I was buried at Mt. Olivet two months ago, and now I really regret doing business with them.

Mount Olivet does not provide the headstones. You have to go to a private seller. Mount Olivet is only responsible for setting the limitations on what type of headstone can be used. Next time check your facts first.

Mickey,

While I'm sure the information you just presented is accurate, I would like to politely request that, in the future, you reconsider words like "check your facts first".

Yes, it's sound advice. I don't ask that you give it up, only that you paraphrase it. Because as it is currently worded, it makes you sound like Keith, resident dancing monkey and king of the lame-oids.

I don't even know you, and I don't want that to happen to you. Anything that makes anyone NOT sound like Keith is a good thing.

Some suggestions:
"You haven't done your homework."
"Additional research is warranted."
"You should determine accurate information prior to writing your reply."
"You're laughably wrong."

Hope this helps.

A more fitting remembrance of Chandler would be an effort to prevent such tragedies in the future.

tracey did you check to see if Mt Olivet donated the grave site? I bet they did as that is a practice they have for years.
I have a friend who lost a young child and he is buried there and they refused his payment for the plot because it was a young child.

I remember reading the RMN story and it said the person at Mt.Olivet refused the donors money because he needed at least $500 and told him to go to the newspapers and solicit donations.

Does anyone else remember reading that?
