Fat, dumb Americans
Mike Gravel bestowed his honesty on the American people during the online democratic forum Thursday and reminded us of statistical fact. We as Americans are fatter and dumber than at any other time in the history of our republic. I wasn’t completely behind Gravel’s assessment on what kind of government fatter and dumber Americans deserve until I read a recent Annenberg Center poll regarding Americans knowledge about the Supreme Court. And yep, fat dumb Americans deserve the kind of government that puts it all in the fine print. Most American don’t even know that Supreme Court decisions are final and that there is no appeals process! 15% of the population couldn’t name the Chief Justice (Robert Gates) while two-thirds could name an American Idol judge (pathetic).
So yeah, Mike Gravel is right. Americans deserve the government they get, especially when they are either too dumb or too preoccupied with their lives to know how their government works or what exactly their government is doing.

Hate to tell you, but Robert Gates is not the Chief Justice--he is the Secretary of Defense. John Roberts is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

I shall be honest with you... Mike Gravel stands to gain the dem nomination in about the same way that I have a chance at being shot into space by Xenu and his dancing Thetins.

I suppose that because we are "fat" and "dumb", that means we are no longer qualified to be HUMAN BEINGS or have an opinion for that matter.........
And at the risk of sounding junior high here I will say, as an american, I will lose the weight, and get smarter, BUT Mike Gravel will always be an ASS.......

I don't know the amount of averdupois being currently carried about by the letter writer; but I do wonder where one might consider she belongs when it comes to naming the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in her letter.

I went to public schools and went on to earn a full-ride scholarship at Park University where I majored in business. After serving 20 years as an Air Force officer, I am now retired from the military and work for a major airline as a mid-level manager (on my way up).
I also have raised two (public school educated) straight A students who are both studying engineering at the Colorado School of Mines.
I have achieved all these things, and I am only 45 years old. By the way, I am 5' 10" and weigh 165.
Seems to me like there are a lot of bigoted private-school educated fatheads out there.
