Iraq war about oil
No War for Oil
So when any Congressperson says we have to stay in Iraq to protect our troops or to end the violence, don’t believe it. It’s about oil. That’s why we’re there. That’s why Bush and Congress don’t want to leave. That’s why Congress is willing to vote for more money to continue this crime.
1.2 Iraqis million have died. It’s murder. It’s robbery. It’s criminal. It violates all religious and ethical norms.
It’s up to us to stop it. Please call Senators Salazar and Allard, Senatorial Candidate Mark Udall and your Congress person today (202-224-3121), and tell them “No War for Oil, stop the funding, bring the troops home now.”

Stick with the talking points,
You must be some liberal defeatocrat, surrendercrat, America hating traitor, They are fighting for our freedoms, and Al Qaida and for a free Iraq with a democracy. Oil doesn't have anything to do with it, come on tune into Fox news and Fox news only, otherwise you will get information not in lock step with the administration. Get Hannitized or listen to Rush, stop thinking for yourself or they will find you!!
Posted by Karl Cheney on September 27, 2007 02:09 PMOil certainly was a factor, but it din't enjoy an exclusive. When Bush outlined his case for war in 2003, he provided America (apparently you weren't listening) with about 23 reason's--oil being just one.
But how does seeking oil security for America make big profits for American oil companies? If oil supplies weren't as secure as they are today (and they could be more secure today), then the price of crude would be $150 p/b, not $80 p/b, and oil companies would likely be earning twice as much as they are today. The terrorist premium would be $75 p/b, not $10 p/b--and YOU would be paying the difference.
Carolyn, you are an economic and financial imbecile. A tin-foil-hat wearing nutjob.
Posted by Hank on September 27, 2007 02:10 PMHANOVER, N.H. (AP) - The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.
"I think it's hard to project four years from now," said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation's first primary state.
"It is very difficult to know what we're going to be inheriting," added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.
"I cannot make that commitment," said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.
--------
"...and tell them “No War for Oil, stop the funding, bring the troops home now.”
But don't bother to call any of the folks above---Hillary, Obama and Edwards--- because they just told America that they are keeping the troops in Iraq at least through 2013 and they will require about $1 trillion in funding. I guess that Carolyn doesn't have a TV or any access to the internet.
Nurse Ratchet...Carolyn's meds please.

Posted by Larry on September 27, 2007 02:33 PMNever call a draft-dodger! Don't call US Sen. Shamnesty Salazar. He and his brother are too busy in Congress voiting for their own federal welfare ($484K farm subsidy). Of course this money will find its way back into our economy, they will use it to pay their criminal illegal Mexican farm workers.

Posted by draftdodgingisntafamilyvalue on September 27, 2007 02:52 PMIf your theory is that we went to war for oil then you and the rest of the democrats have to carry the responsability on your shoulders and be ashamed of yourselfs for causing the war. If you had not fought so hard to stop the drilling for oil in the artic refuge, the Gulf Of Mexico and the numerous other places we own then there wouldn't have been a need for war. Shame on you
Posted by Kelvin on September 27, 2007 03:14 PMThe bottom line is that if we didn't fund the war and try to secure our energy sources and supplies and help maintain some sembelance of order in the middle east, then Americans would be paying at least $6 at the pump. You either pay taxes to fund the war or you pay to fill your tank. So what tax is the better?
I rather pay to kill.
Posted by Hank on September 27, 2007 03:21 PMI'd rather pay at the pump and send Hank to die in Iraq.
Posted by Stan Broyles on September 27, 2007 03:44 PMThat was a classic by Kelvin, did you catch it? Democrats are responsible for the war because they opposed drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, thereby forcing Bush to invade Iraq. Good one, Kelvin.

No War for Oil
Former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan has now said what billions of people around the world have known since the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003: the U.S. war against Iraq was about oil.
Stop reading the headlines and read the book Carolyn, that excerpt is taken out of a much larger and more complex context than just "we went to war for oil".
You won't ever do that though because you dumocrats love to take stuff out of context so it will fit into your agenda.
Why if we did are oil prices at record high levels, nevermind, it was so Bush's cronies can profit i forgot.
hank can pump me any time he watns an he dosnt even have to pay
Posted by Keith on September 27, 2007 09:41 PMNo one ever wanted to drill in ANWR. Alaska citizens and others wanted to drill on the plains outside ANWR along the coast which is about 400miles long and up to 20 miles deep. Animals and birds are only there in the summer (very short) same as Prudoe Bay. Pipeline already exists from there to Valdez. Second place Democrats keep insisting Bush and Cheney are oil people. Bush worked oil fields in West Texas as a young man, and Cheney was CEO of the part of Halliburton that manufactured mining equipment. Kennedy Clan are the ones who bought up mineral rights from poor farmers across southern states and rake in millions through off-shore accounting firm. Check it out, They preach renewable energy, oppose wind farm in their yachting ocean, and get richer. George Soros funds Moveon.org that gives marching orders to Candidates who are afraid to refuse. Cindi Sheehan and Michael Moore are the face of the Democratic Party. Do some research using google and think for yourselves. Don't wait for Oprah, Jay Leno, or Letterman to tell you who to vote for. And we only have about 3,000 Generals and Admirals (1 thru 4 stars) but you choose to believe the 8 who criticized their superiors and entire chain of command right up to Commander in Chief. We only have one of those, not 545 Representatives and Senators who think they are President. And I am an unaffiliated voter, upset with both major parties at present.
Posted by Frank25 on September 27, 2007 09:57 PMAlan Greenspan is a well-known committed, America-hating, Clinton-adoring leftie. He's just desperate to sell his little book.
Posted by Liam on September 28, 2007 06:00 AMAlan Greenspan should know first hand, no recent wars are fought unless the worlds bankers put their stamp of approval on it.
He is a theif as is anybody that is a top official in the Federal Reserve. Which by the way is an not even part of the Federal Goverment.
Just a bunch of corrupt bankers. They have no Gold to back up the money they print up and then lend it to the Federal Goverment at an highly inflated interest rate.
They are the reason homes, automobiles and other large ticket goods are so costly. They are the cause of the souring infation in this country and it does not matter which political party has a president in office.
Greenspan is a Conservative for finacial reasons and a liberal for in his political views except if there is a dollar to be made. He must have lost a bundle in this fiasco of a war and that is why he turned on the Bush Administration.

Really you think he turned on Bush? It couldn't be just because it is a "fiasco of a war" as you put it. I think Bush has made the biggest foreign policy blunder in the last 50 years. I blame Cheney and the neo-con agenda that could not be more wrong. Bush is just an electable stooge that they used. Bush and Cheny will go down as the most despised administration in history.

Your irrational rant and over exaggerated claims are common for the rabid left to spew and your psychotic hatred of this current administration is proof of your twisted perceptions which if not contol leads to insanity and then anarchy.
I agree Bush is Cheney's puppet but as my pot stated there are other powers dictating what is driving this war.
Don't convienently forget to include the Clinton Adminitration for their part that finally led up to this war. His immoral buffoon filled administration Is still in the running for most corrupt and despised depending on who you ask.
Don't be a liberal hypocrite and take a chill pill before you have a aneurism
Posted by The Truth Detector on September 28, 2007 09:47 AMWowie, this particular thread has decended into a LaLa land I did not know existed. I always thought that eventually if the left went far enough and the right went far enough they would wrap around the back. But here I find postings indicating an orange sky and turtles that fly. I am starting to believe M theory with 11 deminsions and alternate universes where anything can be true. This crowd is coming from many different universes with each having a different truth and none questioning there own.
You guys were fun to read though. Kinda like "Through the Looking Glass".

Posted by rick on September 28, 2007 07:11 PMIf you care to call Salazar, Allard and Udall it's your dime.
My advice is not to waste that dime, THEY DON'T LISTEN TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
Posted by c on September 29, 2007 08:05 AMFrank25, you are the only person to ever discuss the location of the potential oil in ANWAR correctly.
Thank you for that little knowledgeable tidbit.
