Karl Rove’s two acts of ‘treason’
My fellow Republicans who are trying to create a new history for Karl Rove are forgetting that his actions to out Valerie Plame were Rove’s second act of treason. Rove’s first act of treason was dedicating the last seven years to changing Lincoln’s, “Government of the people, by the people, and for the people” to a government of the Republicans, by the Republicans and for the Republicans. In doing so, Rove betrayed the more than 70 percent (and growing) of the population who are not Republicans.
The percentage of those betrayed by Rove’s first act of treason is actually higher, because Rove tried to achieve a government of, by and for only Bush/ Cheney/Rove Republicans. In addition to the Democrats, independents, Libertarians and Green Party Americans, Rove also betrayed those of us who are Eisenhower Republicans, Goldwater Republicans and any thinking, nonhating Republicans.
Michael O’Brien O’Connell, Westminster
please put your foi hat back on as they are coming for you today.
and you believe a government of hillary by hillary and for hillary will be so wonderful.
Michael maybe you missed it, but Valerie Plame was not "outed" by anyone as she was not undercover nor did the administration have anything to do with her "outing".
However I believe the focus has been all wrong from the beginning. If an employee of the CIA; (Joe Wilson) is out there saying something different from what the CIA is telling the adminstration there damn well should be an investigation into the CIA.

Posted by GG on September 11, 2007 07:26 AMGood point GG. Mike probably didn't know, after all of the time and money spent on that investigation, Fitzgerald never found the underlying crime (outing Plame) had been committed.
Another fact that Mike seemed to have missed was that the Bush administration was elected by the people.
mikey, another dumb-ass liberal.Did you hang your white flag out today to honor the great Bin Laden?
Posted by Keith on September 11, 2007 08:12 AMRove's first act of treason is his actions as a surrender monkey, draft-dodger, communist-sider, and defeatist. Heck! That even applies to Rudy, Mitt, Huckabee, McConnell, Lott, Bush, Cheney, Frist, Hastert, Owens, BoPeep (haven't passed "gas" in 40 years), Allard (communist-sider), DeLAy, Boehner, Card, K. Slazar (priest-hood), Richardson (Oakland "A's" dreamer), BILLARY, Bill Gates, etc.
Posted by 40acresandmymuleandNAMvetbennies on September 11, 2007 08:30 AMI wonder if this liberal Moonbat knows why Scooter, Rove, nor anyone else for that matter, was ever charged with "outing" V. Plame? How could that possibly be?
Well, nobody was ever charged with "outing" Plame because she wasn't a CIA agent that was subject to any "outing" protections, Plame was no "007 secret agent" as he would have you believe. She didn'tn't qualify under the "outing" law as written by its author Victoria Toensing, who frequently stated that fact. Check this out, its all over the internet. But this Moonbat has Rove guilty of treason for outing a "007" ? Unbelievable, a parallel universe must exist somehwere out there--take me to your leader!
Posted by Hank on September 11, 2007 08:31 AMThe letter writer speaks of "Eisenhower Republicans, Goldwater Republicans, and any thinking nonhating Republicans."
However, he gives no indication as to where any of these might be found. And he also fails to tell us why, if they even exist, they remain "Republicans". It is quite obvious from the postings here, that the Party spokes-persons have no use for them; and it is equally obvious that, if they exist at all, they are never heard from anyway.
The "blame", if any, certainly doesn't belong exclusively to Carl Rove. The Nixonite convicted felons - including the then Attorney General of the United States - under the leadership of the unindicted CRIMINAL co-conspiritor, Nixon himself, did a good job of molding the Republican Party in their own image years ago. Rove has done nothing more than follow in the footsteps of his previous mentors. And the Republican Party has simply given him its preferred kind of politician to work with, and keep up the traditions.
Posted by Old Grouch on September 11, 2007 08:51 AMKarl Rove is a hero because he kept kerry and gore out of office.
Posted by Keith on September 11, 2007 09:24 AM"Karl Rove is a hero . . . etc."
Now you know exactly what the Republican Party and this Administration really have as their programs, "principles", and positions.. You've read it from the hand of the most Architypical Republican Party spokes-person posting on the website.
I have never read another Republican here who actually attempts to refute the man, or deny that he posts the TRUE Republican Party, and "conservative", positions.
From time to time, someone might urge him to moderate his language a bit, or improve his spelling and/or grammar. BUT, when it comes to presenting the Republican Party's agenda itself, HE stands out as being always supported as spokes-person.
All anyone needs to do is go back through the postings and see for himself. Perhaps the letter writer never has logged on to this website; which may be the reason why he mentions Republicans who don't even exist anymore.
Rather than using the rumor mill spurred on out of bigotry toward the Bush administration, people should use a bit of intellectual honesty by listening to what Robert Novak has to say about this issue since it was Novak who first heard about Valarie Plame.
On Monday, July 7, 2003, the last thing on Robert Novak’s mind was Joe Wilson. Francis Townsend was. She was a Deputy National Security Advisor in the Bush administration who was a hold-over from the Clinton administration. She was an insider with former Attorney General Janet Reno. Novak decided to write a column about this curious situation of a known liberal holding such a high position in the Bush administration hired by the CIA. During his investigation about Francis Townsend, Novak heard a lot of talk about Joe Wilson and found it curious as to why someone like Joe Wilson would be sent to Niger by George Bush and Dick Cheney. As the story unfolded, Wilson was not sent to Niger by anyone in the Bush administration. That is very relevant to the truth of this entire story.
When talking to people to gather information for his column Novak interviewed Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage. That interview was scheduled long before Wilson’s trip to Niger was unveiled. But after the trip was unveiled, Novak decided to ask Armitage about it. He asked why if the CIA wanted to get information about yellow cake uranium in Niger and its possible connection with Iraq they would send someone with absolutely no background in intelligence gathering, no knowledge of WMD and who had worked in the Clinton Whitehouse. Unbeknownst to Novak at the time of the interview, Wilson had also worked as advisor to the Gore campaign for president against George W. Bush.
Novak: “Armitage answered off-handedly, ‘Well, his wife works for the CIA and she suggested it.’
Novak: “She works for the CIA?!”
Armitage: “Yes, she works in the Division of Weapons Proliferation. Her name is Valerie.”
Novak said that is as far as the conversation about it went.
Conspiracy theorists spin the story that there was a concerted effort on the part of the Bush administration to uncover Valarie Plame’s identity out of revenge for Wilson’s criticism of the Iraq War. Armitage was not part of any Bush conspiracy, but just was answering a question about why Joe Wilson was the one selected to go to Niger.
Novak: “Of course, the irony is that Armitage was an internal critic of the Iraq policy inside the administration. That was no secret to anybody. And I was an outside critic. I had both in my column and on television said that I thought it was a bad idea to attack Iraq. So, the idea that we were punishing anybody for being critical of Iraq is shear nonsense.”
Scotter Libby was also simply answering a question posed to him by Judith Miller about why Joe Wilson was chosen to go to Niger. All Libby did was explain how that choice was made. Novak went on to say that he tried to get Libby to confirm information on Valari Plame, and Libby was not helpful with Novak’s request.
How it is that Libby got confused about what he had said to Judith Miller a few years hence is not clear to me. But what is clear is that he was brought up on trumped up charges for something he did not do, and that is uncovering the identity of Valarie Plame. In fact, he was trying not to uncover her identity to Robert Novak, as Novak himself has stated.
Rove also betrayed those of us who are Eisenhower Republicans, Goldwater Republicans and any thinking, nonhating Republicans.

Michael must think we are all idiots to take this letter and accept that O'Brien O'Connell is a Repubican.
This is a letter of a left leaning writer most likely a Democrat. I say that because it makes charges without anything to back it up, doesn't understand our political system, and certainly hasn't a clue about the Plame affair.

I'm a conservative Rpublican but I don't defend fools. Nor do I give them undue mention. They are fools and the best way to get rid of a fool is to ignore them.Too bad others reply to nonsense with sense. It always gets muddled. Let the mental cockroaches face the light all alone.
Posted by momma y on September 11, 2007 11:25 AMCan it be said it is treason to have orchestrated the election of the first female President of the United States?
Posted by JVB on September 11, 2007 12:53 PMTo the posters who are saying Valerie Plame was not covert, I have a question: are you saying the current head of the CIA is lying when he says she was?
Also, how do you explain Bush's initial promise to fire anyone in his administration who was behind outing her? Doesn't that promise alone imply that he knows she was covert?
These questions are not meant to rile you up. I would honestly like to know how you can explain both of the above. If you want to see where the CIA states she was a covert agent, all you have to do is visit the CIA's website and read it for yourself:
This is a transcript of an interview with General Hayden, the current Director of the CIA. The interview took place early this summer. He was asked:
"Do you have anything to say at all about the way the Valerie Plame situation, and the trial, turned out? Did it set an example? Did it send a message about the importance of the integrity of your people -- covert people?"
His response: "I’m not comfortable talking a great deal about it. But let me share with you something I shared with the members of the House of Representatives as they were about to hold open hearings a month or two ago. And that’s simply this: The people in our Agency are either not undercover or they are undercover, they are either overt or covert. And then that’s a binary choice for us. And there isn’t a whole lot more to be said once someone has been identified as one or the other category. That is the role the Agency played in this whole national debate, and I’ll let all of the other elements about that…I’ll let other people talk about that. The role of this Agency was simply saying that Ms. Plame’s relationship with this Agency, as a covert CIA officer, was a classified piece of information. "
Posted by mytwosense on September 11, 2007 01:33 PMmts - A better question. If what the CIA head says in retrospect is true, why are there no charges being brought?
Posted by KW on September 11, 2007 02:43 PMKW, before we go there, I would really like an answer to the questions I posed first.
Posted by mytwosense on September 11, 2007 03:37 PMThe Bush brigade here gives a good sampling of what sort of individuals support an administration of cowards and criminals, headed by a moron.
Posted by on September 11, 2007 03:39 PMmytwosense, and now you see how it goes when you pin these squirrely conservatives to the mat. They call the head of the CIA the chief spy spook and don`t even use capital letters. Such disrespect.
The man could only say Plame was covert, after the fact anon. That was when the CIA spoke up about this.
Now, Plame worked openly for the CIA but something she did or parts of what she did , THEY considered covert.
Remember how someone debated the meaning of "is"?
Now the new word to debate is "covert."
Posted by Sharon B. on September 11, 2007 07:27 PM"my fellow republicans"... please, you are no more a "republican" then the dog sh%$ that is on my shoe, next time just be honest in your letter and maybe, just maybe we will take your thoughts and OPINION with a little more respect.
Posted by jeremy on September 11, 2007 07:37 PMKW asked:

Obstruction of justice and perjury.
Posted by Charles B on September 11, 2007 09:43 PMcharles b.,You are such a moron. You still repeat made up lies from liberals that have been proven ages ago that they were made up lies.Don't you have a floor to clean?
Posted by Keith on September 12, 2007 07:36 AMEven when these people are convicted the followers keep on defending them. What is this, 29% now for Bush? or is it lower.?
